Please help

So I’m 14 years old and I haven’t had like “acne” just 1 or2 pimples when I’m on my period and I started to use the Kate Somerville acne cleanser and the tatcha water gel moisturizer and I started to break out well idk if you could call it break out but I have 2 pimples in my forehead and 2 around my mouth I have combination skin any recommendations on what should I use

RE: Please help

No no no!!! Using an acne wash will only make it worse! Using products with salicylic acid all over your face will prevent the production of oils and lessen your acne for a short time but soon your skin will be starved of its essential natural oils and in turn start over producing oils to compensate causing more breakouts. Your best bet will be going for a natural face wash with no salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, moisturizing toner and serum if you can afford them, and a lightweight moisturizer for overall skin health. Use a salicylic acid spot treatment on your blemishes and I found dabbing some lemon juice on top helps with the redness just avoid using it all over your face. Hope this helps!

Don't treat problems you don't have, doesn't sound like you need acne cleanser but rather spot treatment. Try Clean & Clear Invisible blemish treatment, it works really quickly. Using products that are too harsh for your skin will create problems.

Re: Please help

I am 15 and I for sure understand what you are talking about. I also get that not a lot go 14-15 year olds can afford expensive acne treatments, but there are so many great, cheaper options out there.

Personally, my favorite brand in Mario Badescu for just about anything. I love their enzyme cleansing gel, rose water, and face masks. They also have an AMAZING spot treatment that really just clears out that one gross pimple in just one night. It is so great. It is super affordable and I bought the whole set for only a little over 30 dollars. But you can also just get one of those things and see how it works for you.

I also SERIOUSLY love Nuetrogena Deep Cleansing acne soap. It clears out pores and smells so good! It is drug store so it is super affordable.

Hoped this helped!!

RE: Please help

hey, I'm 15 with combo skin and terrible hormonal acne too. for me, Lush's Coalface facial soap followed by The Body Shop's Tea Tree Toner usually clears up my breakouts within 1-3 days. make sure you moisturize especially after any drying acne treatment to prevent even more oil building up.

RE: Please help

Hey I’m 14 as well, and I had terrible acne since forever. What I find that helps the most is just keeping your skincare routine simple. And really research what works for you! Also don’t use masks everyday and aloe Vera gel works as a really great mask for inflammation.

RE: Please help

Hey there! You're never gonna be able to completely avoid acne, because it's your hormones (esp around your period!) What you want to do to minimize them is wash your face regularly (personally, I like both Origins cleanser, First Aid Beauty, and The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil collection.) Some stuff can dry out zits, but be careful - if you use products, esp w harsh chemicals, too often it can make your skin produce more oil. Look for face masks with anti-oxidnets. Wear sunscreen to help make acne scars go away. Never pop pimples, or they'll mark. Change your pillow sheets often and make sure your phone screen is clean. And don't feel self conscious about acne! Everyone gets acne eventually.

Re: Please help

If I were you, I would invest in a spot treatment! There are couple of spot treatments that are good out there.

When looking for acne treatments look for ingredients such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. I personally would lean towards to salicylic acid treatments because they don't dry out my skin. I have dry skin and I find benzoyl peroxide a little too harsh for me.

And again, everyone has different skin and I'm sharing what I know!

Hope this can help you 🙂

EDIT:

Also having a good skincare regimen really helps. I would suggest adding an exfoliator in your regimen. Using an exfoliator can help removed dead skin cells which can build up and cause pimples. You can either use a chemical exfoliator or an exfoliating scrub. When looking for an exfoliating scrub, avoid abrasive beads which can cause micro tears in your skin which can cause more acne (from what I heard). So stick with a gentle exfoliator and exfoliate 1-3 times each week. Or you can buy a daily exfoliator (which are really gentle enough for daily use).

I also heard witch hazel is great for acne. I personally use it too, there are toners out that include witch hazel. My personal favorite is Thayer's Witch Hazel Toner (Rose Water Version), it doesn't dry out my skin (I have dry skin by the way), and it works great!

To conclude this, I highly recommend for you to get an exfoliator and a spot treatment because I think these products can be really efficient at clearing your skin up. Also don't forget to avoid comedogenic products (products that can clog your pores).
