Order of skin care products

Hello!

I’m newer to using a multi step skin care routine.  Could someone help me in terms of what order to place the products on? I’ve spent a lot of time googling this but I’ve read a lot of conflicting answers. I use the following products: cleanser, toner, a serum, retinol and moisturizer.  Also an eye cream.  The main concern is when to apply the retinol.

Retinol should be applied after you cleanse. Then wait 20 minutes before applying toner, serums and moisturizer etc. Retinol is strong, but can't assist your skin if other products are in the way (could also have a bad reaction). Check out Caroline Hirons' blog and/or YouTube for a professional's tidbits regarding skincare!

I guess for treatments, everyone has different steps. As myself as having dry skin.

I usually go cleanse > water spray (for dry skin) > toner > eye cream > serum > treatment ( as you add such as retinol) > moisturizer > sunscreen

Hi @ktktmjones

It is most likely to be cleanser --> toner --> serum --> moisturizer.  Your retinol then can go either before or after your moisturizer depending on how sensitive to the product you are. If you find the retinol is too strong apply it after your moisturizer (its called buffering) but if you are happy with its strength you can go before.

My understanding is cleanser-toner-serum-eye cream-moisturizer-retinol. Someone please correct me if this is wrong!
