OILY SKIN AND ACNE!! HELP!!

Hi you all,

So I'm 25 and for the last 5 months or so I've been suffering from acne and really oily skin. Not sure what has caused it. Can anyone recommend any face wash and a toner that actually works?

LOVE clinches acne solutions products they work amazing I had terrible acne prone skin, and the last two years using it I’ve had 0 out breaks and can go a few days without washing my face if absolutely need to,

I have oily skin and acne as well. What has helped me to reduce the acne and the oily skin was to use the Clinique moisturizing gel it helps a lot and using the clean and clear face was is very handy

I would recommend the Clinique oily skin facial cleanser and Clinique #3 for a toner, and a gel type moisturizer. I only get oily in the summer time and that’s the routine I do and it helps a lot!!

I've had luck with La Roche Posay Effaclar Gel Cleanser. I would follow up with a hydrating toner after since your skin may feel a bit tight after cleansing. Currently, I am enjoying the Kiehl's Calendula Toner. Make sure that your skin is well hydrated to combat the oiliness. Good luck!

I'm sorry you have been getting acne lately! I am 23 and I didn't break out until I was in my 20's and it has been a problem ever since and it is so hard to find the right products that won't further aggravate your acne or break your bank. The product that has worked best for me is Drunk Elephant Night Serum. I purchased the $28 mini kit with the oil and it changed my life. I still have acne but it is very controlled and I try to use minimal products on my skin.  I have found that the more cleansers, toners, moisturizers, etc. I use, the worse my skin gets. I use a gentle cleanser on my skin at the end of the night, like  Skin Laundry's face wash, and  every other day I used the L'oreal Clay Mud Mask to clean out my pores and get excess makeup off, and I use MINIMAL moisturizers or oils on my skin after and I do the same in the morning. I have found that letting my skin breathe and wearing minimal makeup, or wearing it for short amounts of time works best!

I'm sorry to hear that you've been suddenly experiencing a lot of acne and oily skin.  Aside from treating the acne, I think it is important that you take a critical look at any changes you've had to your diet, stress levels and of course products that you use on your face.  Because you can treat all you want but if there's something that is causing it and you're not eliminating that, then you will be in a vicious cycle.  There are many products out there that are for acne but I would recommend to be cautious about which ones you decide to use as many contain alcohols that are very drying and/or other products that can be very drying (such as salicylic acid, glycolic acid and others).  My recommendation would be to use gentle cleansers/moisturizers but to add a product that will treat the acne.  This way you can decide when to use the product or not.  I'll share a post I wrote about my skincare routine and this has helped minimize my breakouts and for the past 2 months I haven't even had a monthly hormonal breakout.

I highly recommend Ole Henriksen skin care lines. I’m quite fond of their Oil Control line (green containers) because they’re gentle and don’t cause additional oil production. The face wash, toner, and moisturizer in this line are all amazing. For something a bit more potent, you can try their Face The Truth line of products which have vitamin C in them (orange containers).

I recommend the Umbrian Clay line from Fresh and their Soy Facial Cleanser. The clay mask has become a holy grail product for me.

Hi! I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I am now 30 and still have acne trouble. But I started using Proactiv and can honestly say that the original system completely changed the look of my skin. It is harsh, so if you have sensitive skin, I don’t think I’d recommend for you. Also, I started using the Kiehl’s gel moisturizer (in blue tub). It’s lightweight and doesn’t feel like it clogs my pores. Hope this helps!

Hi there! Check out the Sunday Riley Space Race Kit! It comes with Martian Toner, UFO Oil and Saturn Mask! The Martian Toner will be great for combatting excess oiliness and make your skin a little more matte without drying it out. The UFO Oil will sink into the skin and deliver the salicylic acid to the root of the problem. It also contains licorice root to help with past acne pigmentation and milk thistle to prevent over drying. Lastly, Saturn is a great acne mask that we recommend as s spot treatment a few times a week. For a cleanser we recommend Ceramic Slip cleanser because it is great for oily skin. It contains different types of clays to remove bacteria, and clarify the skin without over drying.

I second the Sunday Riley products. Cleanse with the Ceramic Slip clay cleanser, tone with the Martian toner and apply UFO oil before applying a moisturizer of your choice. I found the Sunday Riley tidal moisturizer not as effective for me but I’ve started using Kate Summerville oil-free moisturizer which has been great. Use the Saturn sulphur mask as a spot treatment because it tends to dry out the skin very much and will increase your oil production but it is so effective to decrease acne, especially my cystic kind.

I have the same problem. Currently I use the Sunday Riley UFO dry oil which helps the acne among with the glycolic foaming cleanser from Mario Badescu in the morning and at night the Sunday Riley Luna dry oil and good genes. Seems to be helping my complexion and not causing more issues.
