Need a new face cleanser & moisturizer routine

Hey beautiful people! My current face cleanser and moisturizer (not from Sephora) are starting to feel less satisfying and I’m looking for something new to try. I find after using my current products that my face is a bit red looking, like I’m angry or slightly sun burnt. I have mainly dry but sorta combo skin that seems a bit sensitive. Any recommendations for a good cleanser on the lower price scale that will help reduce redness (or at least not cause it)? Also looking for a good lightweight moisturizer that gives intense moisture renewal without feeling greasy or without making me sweat easily? I need something that will still allow my skin to breathe. Thanks in advance!!!

@celticdreamer30 You may also want to consider adding a hydrating toner to your routine. I have very sensitive skin and have recently fallen in love with MILK MAKEUP - Matcha Toner. I honestly can’t believe the huge difference it has made to my skin’s quality. I apply it after cleansing in the morning and evening and it quells any redness and irritation so fast.

My favourite cleanser isn’t on the lower price side, unfortunately, but I’ll mention it just in case: MURAD - Essential-C Cleanser. I use that in the mornings. In the evenings, I use SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cleansing & Exfoliating Wipes - Coconut Water to remove my makeup and cleanse my face. I know many will frown upon not using a full-on cleanser, but my skin just can’t handle it most of the time. The coconut water wipes allow me to remove my makeup thoroughly without upsetting my skin too much. The watermelon wipes are quite gentle as well. If my skin is oily, the yuzu wipes are great.

As for a non-greasy moisturizer that allows my skin to breathe and doesn’t break me out, my favourite is URBAN DECAY - Rehab Makeup Prep Hot Springs Hydrating Gel. They recommend using it before makeup, but I also use it before bed.

Hope this helps!

Your skin is probably red due to irritation or an allergic reaction. Does it itch/sting/burn? If you use products that contain common irritants like essential oils or fragrance, you should switch out those products for ones that don't contain those.

Some Sephora cleansers include

BOSCIA - Purifying Cleansing Gel

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser – Gentle Hydrating Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL

or Clinique. Some drugstore cleansers include Hada Labo foaming cleanser, Cerave hydrating cleanser, and La Roche Posay hydrating gentle face cleanser (most of these don't remove makeup so use a makeup remover or a cleansing oil beforehand). Cetaphil is also gentle and can remove some makeup but might be slightly drying for skin.

For moisturizers,

CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator

FIRST AID BEAUTY - Skin Rescue Daily Face Cream

BOSCIA - Tsubakiā„¢ Swirl Two-Part Gel & Cream Deep Hydration Moisturizer

or facial oils like squalane oil (or oils higher in linoleic acid for oily skin, or oils higher in oleic acid for dry skin). You can mix your facial oil and moisturizer before application too. I like the facial oils from The Ordinary. As long as they're unrefined and cold-pressed, they're good.

Your skin could also be red due to dehydration, so once it's hydrated, the redness will most likely disappear!

@celticdreamer30 I like using Origins Frothy Face Wash and Fresh Rose Deep Hydration cream on my dry/combo/sensitive skin.  For redness relief I use Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream.
