Need a good replacement moisturizer!

I have combination skin.  I was using the Sephora Collection Instant Moisturizer + Cream but it has been discontinued 😞 I recently purchased the Sephora Collection Nourishing Moisturizer - Hydrate and Repair but am not liking it.  This is thicker than the cream I was using and I am not getting the same great moisturizing results that I was from the Instant Moisturizer.  Is there something similar in the Sephora collection or any recommendations?

RE: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

You should try the C.E.O rapid flash brightening serum , it moisturizes skin and clears acne marks.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

I adore Farmacy Honey Drop. It's moisturizing but absorbs super fast.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@jennifermleach My favorite is Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL

It doesn’t make me oily but it is still very hydrating.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@faeriegirl Thank you! 🙂

RE: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

I use the YTTP superberry glow mask at night, and during the day I’ve started using Drunk Elephant’s LaLa Whipped Cream.... both of these have helped my combination skin.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@jennifermleach As far as traditional moristurizers, I use Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL for my oily skin. To be honest, as of late, I have been using The Ordinary’s Squalane Oil. I take 4 drops and press it into my skin as the final step before my SPF. I have been loving the dewy, healthy glow it gives my skin...not oily. It’s perfect for the colder weather we have been experiencing in Southern California. It has been dipping into the 30’s here. That is just so unheard of and I’ve been enjoying bundling up and keeping the fireplace lit.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@darlyndar Oh my that is unheard of for Cali! Here in Kansas we are getting lots of snow!  Several ladies are recommending this Squalane Oil, I have not had great luck with oil but I am thinking I will give it a whirl.  Thank you 🙂

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@jennifermleach What's your budget?

I have combination of oily and dry skin and currently use FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream

since it's light and moisturizing. Then if I need a little more moisture, I add several drops of The Ordinary's Squalane Oil

(If you have drier skin, look for facial oils with higher oleic acid content like camellia seed oil or marula oil (The Ordinary);

if you have oilier skin, facial oils with higher linoleic acid content like maracuja oil (Tarte)).

For even more moisture, sometimes I use the TATCHA - The Indigo Cream Soothing Skin Protectant

Some other moisturizers I've liked / popular among the combo skin crowd

Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL

CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator

FIRST AID BEAUTY - Skin Rescue Daily Face Cream

LANEIGE - Water Bank Hydrating Gel

BELIF - The True Cream Aqua Bomb

TATCHA - The Water Cream

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@RNGesusPls Thank you so much for your advice and recommendations!!  I have also heard good things about First Aid Beauty cream.  I have not had good luck with using oils but I had a friend who just tried several products from the Ordinary line and she is loving them!  I am a huge fan of Laneige and use several of their products and was looking at their moisturizers and saw the Water Bank Hydrating Gel.  You ladies have given me several wonderful products to try 🙂

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@jennifermleach Yeah, oils aren't for everyone. Squalane oil is the most similar to the oil your skin produces and is more easily absorbed, 1-3 drops are enough! Good luck and hope you find your mositurizer soon!

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@RNGesusPls ahh yes the Barri-AIR and TO squalane are so so gooood! I wish Sephora carried the squalane. I live for that stuff haha

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@jennifermleach I always rec CeraVe PM as a moisturizer.  It's lightweight, so it should be good for combo skin.  If you want something heavier, I've been using Cetaphil Night Moisturizer this winter.  I've also heard rave reviews about DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream

Best of luck!  🙂  I'm sorry your fave was discontinued.  I hate it when that happens!  It's always difficult findings a replacement!

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@Anonymous07 thank you very much!  I am hearing very good things about the Drunk Elephant 🙂  I think I will stop in Sephora and see if I can get a sample to try before making the plunge!  I know I was bummed that it had been discontinued and you are right it can be hard to find a good replacement but it's much easier when I get such great recommendations from you lovely ladies!  Thank you again 🙂

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

Hi @jennifermleach , @cianni ,

Hi Guys,

I’m going to ask some friends to weigh in on this, I have heard of Drunk Elephant Protini Cream, as well as First aid beauty, face moisturizer & First Aid Beauty Hydrating Serum.

Do you guys have any input?  @WinglessOne , @faeriegirl , @darlyndar , @txcatx , @greeneyedgirl107 , @veronika23 , Hi Guys any input you have for Jennifer would be greatly appreciated, These girls are so wonderful Jennifer, as well as @cianni , she is awesome too, happy she replied to you so quickly, I know a lot of people will use a light moisturizer if they have combination skin & many of these knowledgeable women also use Kora, Noni Eye oil, which I will be getting right away, I wanted to help, but I have dry skin & hoping they will have confirmed options for you.

❤️‘S, SuzieQ.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

Hi @jennifermleach , @greeneyedgirl107 , @darlyndar , @faeriegirl , @AlixMarie711 , @RNGesusPls , @trojanchick99 , @glamorstars , @RebeccaBT , @LaurieBT ,

 I just wanted you to get multiple suggestions from the best informed girls, Thanks Guys For All Your Help!!!

Drunk Elephant has a product called “The Littles”, it’s great because you can use more or less of 8 products that you can try, the other day I saw a new one was added, it was more of the ones used for combination skin & I was really happy they came out with one, when I went to check it to recommend it to you, it wasn’t there, I am not sure if it was so popular it went out of stock right away?  Hopefully some of these wonderful Administrators can help answer that question?  I personally lately have started Drunk Elephant - The Littles & Lala Retro, it would be great if the 2nd one came back and you could try it - just for reference it has Protini Cream instead of Lala & a couple other changes, I think you would love it, I have also started using CeraVe & I will be ordering First Aid Beauty Face cream & Serum, however just from beginning these products I am seeing amazing differences in my face, (I do think it best if you could get the new Littles), or at least until they get it back, you can order Drunk Elephant - Protini cream & there is a C - Firma & B - Hydra, you can get a smaller size to try for $29, actually it’s more cost saving to get the smaller ones & you don’t need much).

Hopefully the Administrators can help regarding the New “The Littles”, at any rate, I think you now have a better idea where to start, even which samples you would like to ask for!!!  Let us know how it goes!

❤️‘S, SuzieQ.

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

Hi @RebeccaBT ,

Hi,

Do you have any information for Jennifer?

❤️‘S, SuzieQ.

Also in the last few days I saw a new version of the DE - The Littles, the one with Protini and it looked like it was more for combination skin & I was going to recommend that, but when I looked again it wasn’t there, do you know anything about that?

Thanks

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@jennifermleach I have combo skin that tends to be combo-dry in the winter, and more combo-oily in the spring and summer. I find the Ole Henriksen Sheer Tranformation is  really really good! It’s loghtweight, absorbs quickly and I have no problem layering it under makeup. I don’t find it’s enough on its own in the winter, so I’ll either use something heavier, or add a couple drops of squalane oil. I usually get the 15ml and it lasts a few months because I don’t use a lot and only on my face!

Re: Need a good replacement moisturizer!

@cianni Thanks! 🙂
