Is Tatcha water cream worth the price? Looking for a good moisturizer

I really want to try this moisturizer out but I want to make sure it is really good before I spend all that money on it. I was think of getting the Tatcha Water Cream or the IT Cosmetics Secret Sauce. What are your thoughts? Looking for a good moisturizer.

Re: Is Tatcha water cream worth the price? Looking for a good moisturizer

OK, babe, I got you. SO... my FAV moisturizer is the Neutrogena Water Gel moisturizer (its only like around 15-18 I recall) and I have gone thru 5 pots of it already!! The water gel from Tatcha isn't worth your money  (don't get me wrong... it is a great moisturizer but it's not worth the high price its sold at) the Neutrogena one is just as good.

There are 2 different Neutrogena water gel moisturizers..

Water gel- normal skin... I like this one. it's very light-weight so when I don't need to be that moisturized I just massage this into my face and I'm good to go. (this is slightly scented but the scent is very lovely... AND the color is a light blue)

Gel- Cream- this is for "extra dry skin"... I have combination to oily skin and I unintentionally purchased this not knowing it was for dry skin... I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! the consistency is EXACTLY like a gel-cream... idk how to explain it... but the color is a white and there is no scent. Honestly, I like this better than the water gel but both are still great... I normally use this when my face needs more moisture.

SO.. to compare this to the tatcha water gel... its basically exactly like the Gel-Cream... I don't know if the tatcha one is scented but I swear to you that the Neutrogena one is LIFE-SAVING and it is a trustworthy moisturizer.

(and I believe both.. if not one has hyaluronic acid in it. )

Hope this helps!

@MakeupMegan18 Special Sauce also got 2/5 stars:

Spoiler

Secret Sauce Clinically Advanced Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer has a name that sounds so impressive, we can't help but wonder why IT Cosmetics keeps selling their other anti-aging moisturizers. If this is really miraculous, why bother with any of the others? That aside, this creamy-smooth moisturizer ends up being "advanced" and "miraculous" in name only.

Formulated for normal to dry skin, this moisturizer's downfall comes in two forms: jar packaging and fragrance. The jar packaging keeps this moisturizer's best ingredients from working all of their magic, while the fragrance is present in a greater concentration than practically all of the anti-aging ingredients. How disappointing! See More Info for explanations on why jar packaging and highly fragrant products are not the way to go for maximum anti-aging results.

There are some brilliant anti-aging moisturizers out there whose "secret sauce" is their combinations of antioxidants, skin-restoring, and skin-replenishing ingredients all wrapped up in ideal packaging. You'll find those youth-reviving options on our list of Best Moisturizers, Nighttime.

One more comment: Like most skincare from IT Cosmetics, this one's ingredient list is lengthy. It looks like you're getting a lot of great ingredients, and you are—but in amounts that are likely lower than what research has shown works best for skin.

PROS:
  • Hydrates skin.
  • Provides lasting moisture and a smooth feel.
CONS:
  • Contains more fragrance than state-of-the-art ingredients.
  • Jar packaging won't keep the antioxidants, ferments, and plant extracts stable once opened.
  • "Advanced" and "Miraculous" in name only.

@MakeupMegan18 It got 2/5 stars on beautypedia:

Spoiler

Tatcha's The Water Cream is a product that has a beautiful texture and feel, but ultimately fails to make the grade because its packaging won't do its best ingredients any favors.

This gel-cream for normal to combination skin feels luxurious without being heavy, melting into skin for an instantly smoother appearance (but skin won't look poreless as claimed as this won't make pores disappear, we wish it did!).

It contains antioxidants from plant extracts (which are the "Japanese nutrients" referenced in this product's advertising), along with some hydrating and skin-soothing ingredients. One note: Japanese nutrients are no better or worse than any other nutrients; this claim just falls into Tatcha's branding of using Japanese-derived ingredients.

The problem is that the antioxidant ingredients are packaged in a jar, which means they'll encounter light and air, which will decrease their effectiveness over time. If you're spending this much money on a skincare product, shouldn't it be packaged in a container that means you'll get the most from it throughout the time you're using it? We think so!

The Water Cream also contains potentially irritating fragrance and gold (which can sensitize skin and has no benefit in a skincare product), so even though this feels amazing, you'll find superior, wisely-packaged fragrance-free options on our list of Best Moisturizers.

PROS:
  • Luxurious texture feels moisturizing yet lightweight.
  • Contains antioxidant plant extracts.
  • Rich in hydrating and soothing ingredients.
CONS:
  • Packaged in a jar, meaning its ingredients won't remain effective throughout its use.
  • Contains potentially irritating fragrance.

I’ve tried both and personally I’m not a fan of Tatcha products. Thy aren’t bad by any means, just really overpriced for what they are. It’s like you’re mainly paying for the fancy packaging rather than a great product.

Re: Is Tatcha water cream worth the price? Looking for a good moisturizer

@MakeupMegan18

I have the Tatcha Water Cream and really enjoy using it on a daily basis on my oily skin. It is very hydrating and is absorbed rather quickly so there is no need to wait for it to get tacky to move onto primer. I'm not sure what your skin type is but if you have combo or oily skin, you might enjoy it as much as I do! I can't speak for the It Cosmetics cream since I haven't tried it yet but I do recommend you give Tatcha a shot 🙂
