Is Drunk Elephant Protini polypeptide cream really worth the money?

Has anyone used this cream long term? I recently used a sample of the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream and I liked it instantly. However, lately I feel I’ll find a moisturizer see some results and then within a few weeks it stops showing any sort of results. Is this cream any different? What are your thoughts?

Re: Is Drunk Elephant Protini polypeptide cream really worth the money?

I didn't like the cream, i got it from the birthday gift and was a bit reluctant to finish it (but I did anyway because i didn't want to waste it).

It didn't feel hydrating enough, left a bit of a tight film on my face.

I find that I see more results from serums than results from moisturizers.  Moisturizers tend to just provide moisture to the skin and don't deliver on other promises as drastically as a serum would.  I've gone through mini jars of Protini and don't notice anything different from the results of my full size of  Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL .  I got Lala for the texture.

You could also be experiencing the 'honeymoon phase' with each new moisturizer.  New product, you paid a pretty penny, of course it's going to work!  And then as time goes on, you slowly come back to reality.

I am going to have to agree with you 100%. I get so many more benefits from using serums than I do with expensive creams. Most cream products have tons of fillers in them and have ingredients that are not so good for the skin, like alcohols, dyes and scent. You can get way more peptides from a serum for a fraction of the price. Take THE ORDINARY - products as a prime example. I use several serums from T.O., like Buffet with Copper Peptides, also their Niacinamide, Matrixyl and Argireline solutions to name just a few. They cost only 35-40 dollars for all four products. Less that half the price of one product from brands like Drunk Elephant, Kate Somerville, Dr. Dennis Gross, ect. it all depends on your budget and how much you are willing to spend. There are also some fantastic drug store brands that, IMO, far outperform these rather expensive brands. You just need to know what to look for when it comes to ingredients. A fantastic moisturizer from the drugstore, that I use daily, is Olay Regenerist night recovery cream. Does a great job to hydrate and nourish the skin while you sleep. I use the day cream as well. My skin soaks it right up. It is silky smooth and it doesn't pill up under my makeup. It's half the price, less I think, then D.E.

Thanks for the feedback! I am always willing to invest in skincare especially a clean skincare line like Drunk Elephant.

@gennyftb  I have been using Protini for a little over a year and I still love it. I haven’t noticed any decrease in performance.

I am curious what other skincare products do you use in addition to this? Toner? Exfoliant?

Re: RE: Re: Is Drunk Elephant Protini polypeptide cream really worth the money?

@gennyftb  I don't use toner but I usually use an essence, then DE TLC Framboos mixed with DE Marula oil, then Protini.

@gennyftb I've been using Protini for over a year (almost two, I think?) and can't imagine ever being without it. I haven't noticed results diminishing with time, my skin always looks and feels great after applying it. 🙂
