How do I properly layer skin care products on my face?

Is there an application process when it comes to applying spf, moisturizers, primer, color corrector, on your face? Which goes on first? Last? Does it even matter?

Re: How do I properly layer skin care products on my face?

This is the order that I use! I keep this little graphic saved to my phone so that I can pull it up and double check that I'm layering my skincare products. Our skin is a barrier designed to keep things *out,* and so it's really important to make sure that we are applying skincare products in such a way that critical ingredients can get *in.* I layer my skincare products AFTER cleansing and AFTER any masks (which I do about 2x a week). At night, I double cleanse with an oil-based cleanser first, to get all that pollution and makeup off my face. Once you've got any cleansing and masks out of the way, you can jump to toner and go from there. Primer & any color-correcting makeup should come after your final skincare layer, which during the day is sunscreen!

@MurphyMac Ordering your products correctly can definitely affect how they work for you. Depending on what type of item your color corrector is, the general order for what you listed would be:

-moisturizer

-spf

-primer

-color corrector

@MurphyMac here’s a general guideline. You start from the thinnest to the trickiest consistency
