what are your THREE fave skincare products that you absolutely CANNOT live without & how have they changed your skin!?
My three are:
1. Josie Maran Argan Oil: I have been using this as the base of my skin and body care routine for probably 4 or 5 years now. It keeps my skin nice and moisturized, and I really haven't aged at all... Granted, I am in my 20's, but I'm in my late 20's now, and I'd say my skin condition has actually gotten better as I've aged.
2. L'Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil: This seems to be the only cleanser that doesn't dry out the skin around my mouth in any way. My skin feels very comfortable and I can take a few minutes before I feel like I need to apply the rest of my skin care.
3. Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Pads: I started using these to help with any texture issues I may face getting older. I don't really have any right now, but they have smoothed out my cheeks and over my nose a bit, and I feel very confident going makeup free.
Murad Clarifying Cleanser - though I still get acne, this helps keep it at bay
Sheet Masks - just to make my skin softer, brighter, and forces me to relax for 20-40 minutes whenever I put it on
Eye Cream - haven't found a favorite, but I definitely recommend starting to use one if you don't! I'm glad for no undereye circle/bags or wrinkles
Special mention - Tea Tree Oil - gets rid of that acne quick!
Fresh Gentle Soy Cleanser - this is my HG morning cleanser. It's pricy, but I have yet to find a cleanser that is similar to this one. It lathers well, doesn't strip my skin, and played a huge part in my acne going away.
belif Aqua Bomb - my favorite moisturizer ever. I wish there was more product for the price point, but I have found that no other moisturizer will skin in so quickly and semi brighten my face.
Pixi Glow Tonic - I feel like this is a cult classic and it is rightfully so. The Glycolic Acid in this toner has tremendously helped to fade my acne scarring and introduced me to acids. I noticed that if i do not use this, my skin gets little white bumps.
1. Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Vitamin C+ Serum - I have tried many vitamin C options and this is my all time fave. It makes my skin feel so soft in the morning. After a lifetime of battling dry skin that alone justifies the price tag.
2. Paula's Choice 8% AHA Gel - I like exfoliants that give me a percentage on the label (take note marketing lurkers). It just helps make things fool(me) proof. 7-8% appears to be my daily sweet spot for exfoliation and pore cleansing without the onset of dreaded Flake Face.
3. Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm - OK, maybe I could go without it for a few days; but only because I don't wear make up every day. I've tried alot of cleansers, and this one removes make up without drying me out or creating an oil slick.
For me, I'd have to go with:
1. Paula's Choice 2% BHA - this stuff has been keeping my pores clean and controlling oil for 2 years. I keep repurchasing and always pack this with me if I go away
2. CeraVe Foaming Cleanser - the beauty community seems to be very polarized about CeraVe, but this stuff works for me. I've checked the ingredients and there are no harsh surfactants in this cleanser, and never strips my skin of moisture. It's also pH balanced (I believe 5.5) which is very important to me. I can actually use this AM and PM; quite often this is the only cleanser I pack with me on vacation so if I had to choose one cleanser it'd be this one!
3. Face oil - I would keep at least ONE face oil. Can't decide--it would probably be the Biossance Squalane & Vitamin C Rose Oil, or Herbivore Lapis. Face oils have changed my skin completely. I used to consider myself combo normal/oily with a fairly oily nose which would cause makeup to separate but since introducing oils into my routine, I haven't had any experience with foundation separation. I am more like combo normal/slightly oily now...even my chin and forehead are no longer oily, so I can't even say I have an oily t-zone. I don't think the beauty world uses face oil enough yet. Too many people are still staying far away from oils (oil-free moisturizer, oil-free foundation, oil-free everything!), which I don't believe is the answer. There's an oil for everybody...you just have to find the right one.
i always find myself reaching for belif aqua bomb water cream, belif hungarian water essence, and may coop raw sauce
I recently discovered these three and they are my lifesavers:
Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil: It doesn't make break out or leave my face feeling greasy, it washes off very easily, and it lifts makeup right off my face.
Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder: It is such a gentle exfoliator! It actually does polish your face. No irritation whatsoever, it just lifts off the thinnest dead layer of skin right off my face.
Boscia Deep Pore Buffing Brush: It lifts off anything that's settling right in the top of my pores before it turns into a blackhead. It isn't good at removing fully formed blackheads, but it's amazing at preventing them.
1. JOSIE MARAN Whipped Mud Mask Argan Hydrating and Detoxifying Treatment - it has helped keep my skin super clear. It really gets deep down in the pores and removed the dirt and oil that is deep set. I love using this after a week of excess sweating or like when I came back from Mexico and had put sunscreen on my face three times a day this saved me from getting huge pimples. It detoxifies but simultaneously hydrates because of the Argan Oil. It's gentle so I will use the unscented one (no dyes) and leave it on for up to 30 minutes.
2. OLEHENRIKSEN Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer - wow it is so light and still so hydrating. It has helped slowly break down old sunspots and acne hyper pigmentation. I use it every single morning and every single night.
3. Anything with pure Retinol in it - there are a ton of products so you can choose your favorite brand. Retinol has helped keep the size of my pores looking their smallest, reduce the beginning signs of wrinkles, and again helps break down my hyper pigmentation from acne scars. I will never go to sleep without putting retinol on my skin.
Hi Emily
Im 30 now and have been using retinol in mild forms since 25- i dont have any problems with acne scarring anymore either or Acne for that matter .. hail Retinol!
Fun topic @aamrita!
1. Sarah Chapman The Ultimate Cleanse: I've used this for about a year now and I love how my skin feels after I use it. I'm feel my skin is clean and moisturized.
2. Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: I love the glow I get after this mask.
3. May Lindstrom The Blue Coccoon: what a lovely moisturizer! I absolutely adore how plump my skin looks and the scent is amazing!
Currently it's:
the aqua belief cream - it proves the perfect light weight moisturizer for summer and I love the smell
the milk makeup matcha toner stick - perfect for right after I clean my face and am feeling lazy and my skin has been way clearer since I started using it
farmacy eye dew- I just started using this but i think it's helping with my dark circles
Hi Kim!
i have a problem with Dark circles (anemia) and can never find anything that helps drastically- ill deff check out the eye dew
I am still searching for my perfect skincare. these will be stables but im still looking for a good moisturizer and makeup remover.
1- caudlie vinoperfect radiance serum - this literally made me believe skin care is actually effective.
2- Glamglow supermud - best face mask I ever tried.
3- Glamglow thirstymud - I used this as a moisturizer for a while its so hydrating and amazing.
Ive tried a few products from the Vino perfect line- it didn't do much for me but i wasn't consistent with them TBH , ive heard they are amazing!
i love their beauty elixir and i have a few bottles EVERYWHERE . I have a serious problem constantly spraying my face =P
Love this aamrita!
Currently could not live without my Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil - I mix a few drops into my moisturizer in the morning, but go to town at night. It's really helped keep any blemishes at bay!
Also obsessed with using Kate Somerville's ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment once a week to really brighten everything up.
Finally, I've been loving Algenist's SUBLIME DEFENSE Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid SPF 50 because it's non-greasy and sits well under any makeup I apply. (And we could all be more diligent about SPF, right? :P)
Bisous,
Sian
we are skin sistas! im loving the SR Luna & Good genes together! Ive been eying the Exfolikate for a while- i always keep getting the little samples and they have lasted me for a while lol
My sister wanted to try the luna but has acne prone skin- ill suggest the UFO oil instead for her, it seems more catered to her needs
