Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream - Under eye area

I was wondering if its safe to use Drunk Elephant's A-Passioni Retinol Cream in the under eye area? I would start off using very small amounts but I wasn't sure if its even safe to do so. I read mixed opinions online. Let me know!

Thanks!

@brittanyhoekst  It depends on how sensitive your undereye skin is. OTC retinol serums like A-Passioni are generally okay to use under the eyes, depending on oneโ€™s skin tolerance.

Iโ€™ve used The Inkey List Retinol serum for a year. I didnโ€™t start using it under my eyes until last fall, after the rest of my face (well, not my eyelids or brow bones) was plenty used to it. My undereyes had no objections, and by that point I was using the retinol every other night. I should mention that my undereyes are the driest skin on my face and are so sensitive, my own tears sometimes hurt. Last week I tried A-Passioni on my whole face one night, including my undereyes, and I had no issues with it.

So, I think youโ€™ve got the right plan: start with just a tiny bit under each eye at first, and donโ€™t bring it all the way up to your bottom lash line (just to make sure you donโ€™t accidentally get it in your eyes).

I advise against putting it on your eyelids though, mostly because thereโ€™s a chance anything you apply to your lids might slip down into your eyes. I donโ€™t know if retinol would actually damage your eyeballs (I doubt it), but itโ€™d probably hurt.

Good luck!

Re: Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream - Under eye area

I would not use this product for under your eyes personally. I mistakenly put it on my eyelids and under my eyes because I misread the label and thought it was eye cream. My stupid mistake, I know. Anyways I ended up with a chemical burn on my eyelids and underneath my eyes. Now that I'm using this product properly I love it, but if I were you, I wouldn't try it under your eyes.

@brittanyhoekst

The retinol that I use states on the packaging that it CAN be used on the face and under eye area. Unless it specifically says so, I wouldnโ€™t.
