Comparing balms - clinique, drunk elephant, and farmacy

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone here has tried all three cleansing balms? I have tried the clinique take the day off and farmacy green clean but not slaai. I currently use the clinique one which I feel is a little better at taking every last bit of makeup off, even waterproof. I liked the feeling of the green clean but it had some problems taking off mascara and waterproof makeup. Neither leaves much of a residue on my combo skin. I am wondering how the slaai compares to these two?

I feel like the heavier balms are the DE and Ren rose centfolia cleansing balm. These two you have to use a washcloth to remove.  I feel like the farmacy and Clinique are more lightweight. The farmacy is nice and emulsifying. Clinique TTDO is great at removing eye makeup. I’m using up a deluxe sample but have also used the oil which I prefer.  I also like DHC cleansing oil.  So depends on your skin type?  do you double cleanse etc.  I can see the heavier ones for the winter/drier skin types.  There are lots of options!

Re: Comparing balms - clinique, drunk elephant, and farmacy

Lol, i just posted a question about the Slaai cleansing balm too.

I'm on my 3rd Farmacy and it's fantastic at removing my makeup and washes off easily with water. However, I'm likely going to stop using Farmacy even though it washes off well because of the polyethylene (plastic) going into our water systems.

I'm very iffy on keeping the Slaai that I just ordered. I got a sample before purchasing and tried it twice, but each time I rinse, it doesn't come off easily like the Farmacy one. There's a film that feels quite greasy (feels thicker than if I straight up use coconut oil), but i'm not sure if i'm the only one that feels that way. Sometimes I have to use my Kiehl's ultra facial cleanser twice to make sure my face feels clean. Maybe this helps?

I haven't used the clinique one, but I just bought Slaii and found it does an excellent job of melting all my makeup. However, I have to double cleanse with it because I find it seems to stay oily for me. It doesn't emulsify with water like Green Clean did when I tried it. I still love it, though! It feels so great on my skin.

Thanks for the feedback! I have breakout prone skin and I am worried the residue will make me break out. Maybe I'll stick to the green clean...

@SurprisedLemur Both the Clinique balm and Drunk Elephant balms have ethylhexyl palmitate, which I personally avoid with my combo, sensitive skin. I really like the Green Clean and the Clinique Take the Day Off *oil*.

Oh I didn't realize they had an oil version! Thanks for the suggestion @tastelikewater !

I haven’t tried them all but have heard really positive things about all of them. I use Jane Scrivner’s balm, and I love it. It’s not available on Sephora though, you have to go to her website.
