Clean at Sephora products- anyone know why First Aid Beauty isn't apart of it?

By their product description, they advertise that they include only the best and clean ingredients in their products. Why would most of their products not qualify or be considered part of the other clean products sold at Sephora?

@Lolo518

That's a good question; I checked out a few products and none of them seemed to have any of the ingredients that the Clean at Sephora label excludes, as best I could tell.

I'd almost imagine there's a buy-in to this label though. Sephora provides nothing for free to brands when it comes to extra marketing, so there may be some sort of fee or cost-sharing arrangement in place that some decided to skip. That could potentially be the case here (or not...I certainly don't have inside info...just wondering out loud).

In any case, my personal opinion is that this is nothing but a marketing gimmick. Folks should do their own research and decide what's best for them, and not rely on what someone else says is "clean" (which also kinda implies that everything else is "dirty"...).

I was wondering the same thing! I think the "less than one percent of authentic fragrance" gets a lot of the companies like FAB and The Ordinary.

@wolbre

FAB doesn't use synthetic fragrances at all; it's on their "no-no list" of ingredients that they refuse to use. The following blurb came from the hydrating serum product page, but it applies to all of their products. https://www.sephora.com/product/ultra-repair-hydrating-serum-P403739

"First Aid Beauty provides everyday essentials and targeted skincare solutions that deliver immediate relief, lasting results, and feel-good textures. Their products are formulated with only clean, skin-loving ingredients that are carefully selected so you don’t have to worry about what’s in (and not in) your skincare products. There are over 1,300 ingredients on FAB’s no-no list, including artificial colorants and artificial fragrances, parabens, ethanol, ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, methanol, n-butyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, sd alcohol, lanolin, propylene glycol, phthalates, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehydes, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban, talc, and sulfates."

@RGbrown You make excellent points! I still don't understand why alcohol isn't on the list of ingredients.

ITA @RGbrown. Well said. This “clean” label is honestly more misleading than “natural” or “green” beauty IMO. Just because something is more natural or clean doesn’t mean it’s better for you.

If you’re really concerned about the ingredients, run it through the CosDNA database, do research and see what works for you. Lots of these ”clean” products have a lot of essential oils which are potential irritants for some skin types so they could be “clean” but still mess up your skin. I’m not saying all essential oils are bad but for some, it could be.

@Lolo518 The brand must use some of the ingredients on this list
