Best mask for acne prone skin

Hello! I have acne prone skin and couldn’t decide which mask to purchase. I have narrowed it down to fresh Umbrian clay mask and Kiehl’s rare earth mask. Was wondering which one worked the best. Thanks!:)

Also also @jen733 (sorry I keep adding) you may want to check out the new The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque 1.7 oz/ 50 mL !It's got acid and charcoal together id salicylic acid works for you, even if it doesn't the exfoliating effect would be great for keeping your pores clean and clear

Hi @jen733!

I love the PETER THOMAS ROTHTherapeutic Sulfur Mask Acne Treatment Mask! It really helped clear my acne and absorb excess oil.

Always,

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

@jen733 I tried the umbrian clay but it was a little overly drying IMO.

I would second the Origins Charcoal or Caudalie Pore Minimizing Instant Detox Mask 2.5 oz/ 75 mL . The Caudalie mask doesn't necessarily work better, but you can see the oil it pulls out of your pores when you apply a thinner layer (all you need) and for whatever reason I just find that super satisfying

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

Seriously @Brutalitops 😳? Because that is all I needed to know, must try this Caudalie mask ASAP (I am not one of those that looks at their Bioré masks due to a weak stomach, but this sounds lovely).

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

@eshoe Yes! I always have some darker spots around my nose, but if I use a hot towel on my face beforehand to really open my pores up I'll get dark oil spots on my forehead/jawline too. Super gratifying to see it working because honestly sometimes I feel like it's hard to tell

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

I remember watching my Mom using a pot of boiled water with a towel around her face to open the pores, @Brutalitops😄 I forget to do it more often than not. @Kim888 tried a mask that was like a tea sachet in water that you breathe in. Makes it even better.

@itsfi is a fan of the Caudalie mask and I’ve almost purchased numerous times due to her. Thank you again, I’m too curious now to pass it up again!

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

Also @jen733 depending on what your acne responds best to, I've had great luck with KATE SOMERVILLE - EradiKate™ Mask Foam-Activated Acne Treatmentand the cleanser from the same line, but salicylic acid has never been a winner for me though I know it does wonders for others as a spot treatment/whatever

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

Hi @jen733,

A clay mask is perfect for oily skin because it will detox and clear your pores. I highly recommend the ORIGINS - Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores.

Stay Gorgeous,

Penelope

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

@jen733  Have you tried a clay mask before? I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and I can tell you that the shortest road to a breakout for me is 95% of clay masks out there.

Of course, this is definitely not the case for everyone. We all have different skin types. However, if you have a Sephora near you, I’d highly recommend going in-store and requesting a sample of each one on your short list, before taking the plunge with your wallet 😉

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the one clay mask my skin actually does really like is:

OLEHENRIKSEN - Cold Plunge Pore Mask

Re: Best mask for acne prone skin

Thanks so much! I’ll have to check it out😊
