Allergic reaction on eyelids

I have been having so much trouble now with products. The amika purple conditioner started the trend of open sores on my eyelids, but now the sores pop up now and again with my regular products (I eliminate all and have slowly introduced each until I have a breakout again). The sore is a thin line that follows the crease of my eyelid, sometimes in combination with a swollen eyelid, pain, and itching. My dermatologist said it's contact dermatitis, likely from any number of products I use on my skin and hair. I've been using Cera-ve and Clean and Clear for hair and skin care to help my skin heal but these products are not remotely as good as my favorite regular products. I've now determined my skin care is fine but my shampoo or conditioner are the cause of the reaction.  Can anyone recommend a clean, fragrance free, hydrating and high quality shampoo and conditioner?

RE: Allergic reaction on eyelids

My understanding is contact dermatitis can come from a foreign object rubbing or touching repeatedly or be an allergic reaction from something that come into contact with the spot. I wonder if you have seasonal allergies to plants and if so, if it could be the buckthorn berry in the conditioner you’re referring to. I have had problems with my eyes and lips swelling from a product called carmine aka cochineal extract aka a “natural color” product found in make up and food that gives pinks, purples, and red coloring. It’s actually an insect, some people have very sensitive reactions to it and it’s quite common in make up. Check for that ingredient as well. Stick with products that smooth and heal your skin for a couple months.

Thank you! I had a feeling it had something to do with the purple color. At

some point, I'm also going to an allergist. I'll have them patch test me for that.
