Accidentally over-exfoliated

I accidentally over exfoliated my chin area and now it's super rough and dry feeling. I know it'll go away over time but anyone got quick fix tips? thanks!

Re: Accidentally over-exfoliated

@Jennifer95, I second @greeneyedgirl107's neosporin recommendation.  I've also used Aveeno with good results.  I just did this two weeks ago by applying two serums that obviously do not react well with one another 😛

Re: Accidentally over-exfoliated

@Jennifer95 When that has happened to me, I've applied a very thin layer of Target brand Neosporin.  It's worked like a charm.  I think everyone should have it in their arsenal.  It also works for dry skin, razor burn, and open areas from extraction.

RE: Accidentally over-exfoliated

@Jennifer95 I picked up the Dr. Jart Cicapair to have in my collection just in case I have any reactions to anything and since I use acids daily. It truly calms any irritation, redness or dry spots. A little goes a long way and it won’t clog pores. I definitely recommend it.

Re: Accidentally over-exfoliated

Ouch! Flaky skin is the worst - I get it around my forehead and nose all the time. I like to use aquaphor ointment (brand - eucerin). I find it not as thick or greasy as vaseline and it works really fast! I also tend to use coconut oil as a makeup remover/cleanser when my skin flares up.

Re: Accidentally over-exfoliated

Well if you still have the problem, I suggest using Vaseline. I over-exfoliated this week, but after using Vaseline for one night, almost all of the dry spots were gone!

Re: Accidentally over-exfoliated

Lots of hydration and moisture! Make sure you step away from the acids for a while and focus on adding moisture back into your skin. When my skin is angry, aloe-based products help with the redness and calming.

Re: Accidentally over-exfoliated

Ouch! You could try a gentle treatment like the Ren Evercalm rescue mask or the Farmacy Honey Savior salve... that sort of thing will give your skin enough moisture to heal faster without lots of extra ingredients that might irritate it while it's more sensitive. Also, make sure to be drinking a lot of water to help the cell turnover.

Whatever you do, you definitely don't want to use any other exfoliant until it's fully healed... it might be tempting when it's almost done and the texture is really annoying, but you'd be undoing all your work and re-injuring it!

Agreed on the Savior Salve! 🙌I also use the Avene Tolerane for those emergency overnight fixes, mixed with a touch of polysporin.

I'd go a basic eucerin or CeraVe moisturizer with nothing active, just emollient. Also do you have a hyaluronic serum? That would be good. Also ceramide and collagen would help.
