Hey Savvy Shoppers 🙂
I know that many of you are big fans of using Ebates and other cash back sites to make the most of your purchases. I've been an avid Ebates-er since 2014 and can confirm that the hype is real!
A little birdie in the office let me know that they are planning another big cash back day in the near future (this week or next) so we wanted to ask when you'd like to see cash back!
Is there a particular day you prefer to shop online or do you enjoy the surprise of extra cash back? Does it just depend on your schedule? We do have a couple blackout dates but please share your feedback below so we can get some cash back!
Bonus questions:
@mermadelove you can either go to the Ebates website first, look for where you want to shop and then it will take you there OR you can download a little icon (the extension) for your browser: Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox. With the icon, it will blink or pop up (depending on your browser) each time you go to a website that has cash back,
Let me know if you have more questions 💜
@ElleElleG Thank you! That helps a lot! And Ebates got back to me and deactivated my account!
After you sign up for ebates you can add a chrome extension. When you visit a website offering cash back the extension will create a popup to activate cash back, click activate and then you just shop as usual (I've never done in store cash back so idk how that works)
And ebates offers a $10 sign up bonus
Oooohhhhh, cash back...a favorite topic of mine 😃
As for the main question of when folks want this specific promo, I don't have much input...CB isn't typically a main driver for my purchasing decisions. I adore CB and it's a fabulous bonus (and I am good about using it 99.9% of the time), but it isn't an upfront discount; budget and wants vs needs come first for me. If I have a need coming up, then CB (along with other factors) can play a role in helping me decide where to buy as that affects my final deal. For wants, crazy high CB could possibly sway me, but I'm trying to do better about not buying wants in the first place 😛
As for tips and tricks and how I hear about CB, I use a site called cashbackmonitor dot com. They update daily (or more frequently during heavy shopping seasons, like around Xmas), aggregating CB info from various sites so I can find the best one quickly. I keep a tab open to them, and any time I'm ready to make a purchase, I search the store(s) I'm interested in to see what's what.
I don't automatically go with the highest site because I don't want multiple accounts with $2 and $3 and $4 balances 😄, but I do have a few CB sites that I will pick from...Ebates, Mr Rebates, and BeFrugal are the ones I use most often, and they are all dependable. Giving Assistant and Upromise are also good ones that I've used before...if they ever had a stellar %, I'd use them again (but they tend to hover around the average going rate, so there's not much sense in splitting up my CB earnings). If you do decide to chase the highest percent and spread your CB around to multiple sites, be sure to pay attention to payout schedules, whether or not they have a minimum, etc. There's not much worse than having a $19 balance and finding out the site requires $20 before they'll actually cut you a check 😒
There are limitations here, of course. CouponCabin does a lot of flash offers that won't show up here, and I believe RetailMeNot does some as well, so this isn't perfect for finding every single CB provider out there, but it's a great place to start if you want to find a better rate without hitting lots of sites one by one.
Today's Sephora list; if I were making a purchase today, my personal choice would be BeFrugal
Sorry, I know the topic was ebates, but that whole "tips and tricks" question got me going 😜
If anyone wants a referral to ebates, Mr Rebates, or BeFrugal, shoot me a PM. I don't know what any of their referral offers are off the top of my head (or if all of them even offer anything) but many sites offer both you and me something for it, so I'm happy to do it 😃
Thanks for sharing sharing the site so you can check across various cash back offerings @RGbrown; very helpful.
I'm with you as far as shopping practices. Cash back is not enough incentive for me to make a purchase. Now if I "need" something and/or there's another deal that interests me at the same time then I will absolutely take advantage of the cash back. Back in the day when Sephora would keep the higher cash back percentage while running the Spring and Fall sales.....THAT'S when I would often purchase way more than necessary.
@jbean90 I like where your head is at 😄
Maybe I need to finally snag myself some Jo Malone and / or Tom Ford... Which fragrance are you interested in snagging with your 3x points?
I love using ebates for sephora, i think it would be nice during a weekly wow or special event sales since we tend to treat ourselves more.
I definitely always try to remember to use ebates plus they usually tell you the coupon codes as well which is convenient. Getting the cash back check after the holidays was super nice! I don't mind which day really but I do wish we got warning! I would hold off ordering for a few days if I knew a big cash back day was coming!
Gosh darn! I totally forgot about Ebates 😟 @veronika23 told me about it last year and I signed up and forgot all about using it.
@GG84maybe get the app or the browser reminder? Once you start using it you usually get into the habit of checking for it. Especially if you do a lot of online shopping and see how much cashback you get 😉
@GG84 I agree, the app is the best! Good call @veronika23 🙂
@KatieBT I'd kinda rather be blissfully unaware of how much money I spend at Sephora until that lovely year end reminder you guys send us that gives me heart palpitations lol
I love Ebates. I think it is the best cash back company out there. I always choose Sephora eGC with bonus % whenever they offer. Please have extra % cashback for online shopping and before/around Mother Day @KatieBT. Thx you thx you 😉
1) Not sure i have any tips or tricks but i consider cashback as part of discount (not as good since we pay less tax on discount items) I am less likely to be strict on budget when higher % cash back are offered.
2) Didnt we have 16% cash back some years ago 😉
3) BT lovelies introduced me to it couple years back 🙂
