Where to start if new to makeup?

As a parent who has ignored the idea of makeup for 20 plus years now, my kiddos are finally getting older. I want to start focusing on myself and that includes feeling beautiful again. Makeup has changed so much that I feel lost in a makeup store now. What are the essentials I should get to start a skin care routine? What basic makeup products should I start with for a day to day look? I turned 40 this year so have combo skin with pores and fine lines showing. Skin care is washing face 2xd with dove sensitive skin bar soap and lotion after. Help me step up myself care please 🙂 any advice is welcome!

For skincare you can start incorporating vitamin c serum, retinol, sunscreen. Strivectin is a great brand along with Glow Recipe.
