PLAY! by SEPHORA has some exciting news to share with you. Starting in May 2016, we’re expanding PLAY! to the lower 48 states and giving our PLAY! boxes a makeover!
For those of you already on the waitlist as of April 8th, 2016, we will be sending out invitations in waves until all available spots are filled. Invitations will be sent based on when you joined the waitlist. Spots are still limited, so please act quickly if you receive an invitation. As a reminder, when you receive your invitation to join, be sure to enter the same email address used to join the waitlist. If you don’t receive an invitation this time around, or you joined the waitlist after April 8th – don’t worry! As more spots open up each month, we’ll continue to send out invitations on a rolling, first come, first served basis.
If you would like to join the waitlist, please enter your email by visiting www.sephora.com/play. You will be included in future months’ invitations.
A: The first wave of invitations for signup will be sent during mid-April 2016. They will continue to be sent out in monthly increments as the program grows.
A: PLAY! by SEPHORA is currently only available in the U.S. and can ship to any address in the contiguous 48 states.
A: Box quantities are limited each month. If you are invited to subscribe to PLAY! by SEPHORA, please redeem your invitation and claim your spot as soon as possible so that you don’t miss out on that month’s box.
A: PLAY! by SEPHORA is not currently available in Canada; however, we will keep you posted on any plans for expansion.
Q: I am a US resident and do not live in one of the contiguous 48 states. When will PLAY! be available to me?
A: We are currently exploring ways to expand our shipping capabilities to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and US Military Bases. We'll be notifying clients as soon as we have an update and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

KeelyBT , a moderator, did reply. Here is her response which is listed on page 2. Sorry for the confusion! Our Play! subscription is full for the May box. We will be sending more invites next month, so please add yourself back to the wait list and keep an eye out.
Yes but that seemed more of an attempt to passify people. No information was given as to if we were put on the bottom of the wait list, if this will be happening again, how many boxes they underordered, no apology for actually screwing up, etc. It's totally not her fault, I don't fault the mod since they don't have power to do anything but it seems like a rude reply and a very poor attempt at calming the situation when an email and ACTUAL apology would do them much better.
My issue also...why invites us if there are no openings? Why not invite the number of openings and then more if those expire.
I got the email that I am off the wait list but when I click the link and put in my email it just puts me back on the wait list! This is frustrating!
Hi Antoinette11,
I am very sorry for the confusion and for the inconvenience. I understand that this is frustrating. At this time, the spots for our May box are now full. Please add your registered email address to the waitlist here > Sephora.com/PLAY so we can invite you again as spots will open up again very soon. Thank you for your patience! If you have further questions, feel free to send me or any available moderator a private message. Thank you!
Best Wishes,
Janean
My invitation had not yet expired and when I tried to redeem, I was waitlisted. WTH, Sephora! Are you going to explain this nonsense?
Same situation
SAME HERE WTF! Got invite email, tried to claim spot, back to the waiting list.....BUMMER!
I received and invitation and it hasn't expired and makes me sign on to the wait list again..
Well the same thing happened to me. You would think Sephora would learn from the mistakes of earlier subscription services.
My invite hasn't even expired and it makes me go to a new wait list. Ugh
Same here! Omg it's so frustrating!!
Adding my frustration as well - Rec'd my invitation - was so excited - went to subscribe and I can't - called cust serv and was told all spots filled up...UM my invitation hasn't expired how can everything be filled up? Waited 45 mins on hold for a supervisor - finally was told I couldn't hold any longer and they would call me back (doubtful) - this is like having a ticket to a concert and getting to the area and being told - sorry we are at capacity....Uncool Sephora - If I have an invitation with an expiration date then that spot should be held for me until the expiration date!!!! Was so excited I even let my youtube subscribers know we would add this to our monthly unboxings - well now I have to tell them we can't and why.....I almost feel this was false advertising on Sephora's part!
Adding my voice to the long, long list of people who have been trying to get into Play for a while and for whom the link taking me "off the waitlist" isn't working. Very annoyed.
Also, quick additional note... I tried to sign up immediately when I got the email. Sephora's response below indicates that even if you were sent an email saying you were off the wait list, that there were only a limited number of spots available. If it filled up within an hour of the email being sent out, Sephora misled people into thinking they could get into Play, and there were far, far fewer spots available than emails sent.
Geez, we all sound like a broken record. This is so darn frustratingl Well, I was going to cancel my IPSY account, but this has changed my mind completely. I too received the same email stating I was "off the list!" only to receive the same frustrating response as you all did. Well, May's IPSY is supposed to have an Urban Decay sample which I love; March's IPSY box was very cool, so maybe May's will be even better. Check it out everyone - it's only $10, you can cancel anytime and there's NO waiting list.
SORRY Sephora!! As much as I love your store, we, your loyal customers, have to go somewhere if you are unable to fulfill your original intent.
can Sephora at least explain to us WHY there is a waitlist and a time frame for us to 'secure' our spot only to be told it's filled up?! I had to rejoin a waitlist that I had already signed up for. Now I'm at the bottom again?
Terrible customer service. Why even call it a waitlist if once you've received the email, you're not guaranteed a spot?
I agree!! I had the same issue!!
Hey everyone. VIB Rouge +++ here. I logged on an hour after I received the email that my spot was open on the play by Sephora waiting list, a list that I have been on since before the box was available in my market. When I tried to subscribe using the email that corresponds to my Vib account I was told that there were no spots available and that I was put back on the waiting list. I called special Vib Rouge concierge line, and was told that there was a technical issue regarding the most recent set of emails sent out to people from the waiting list and that Sephora knew about it. The woman that I spoke with advised me to try again within 24 hours and that my spot should open up. It's been 48 hours and I am still getting the same message that I am added back to the waiting list. I plan on calling the Vib Rouge concierge line tomorrow just see what the communication might be from them. I just really want to get on the list for the Box.
What did they say to you the second time you called?
Well, I guess I'm not the only one. I signed up for the wait list MONTHS ago. I got the email on the 16th saying I was in! I was SUPER excited! Because of financial reasons, I had to wait until tonight to actually sign up, which I thought would be fine, after all, the timer still had four plus days on it. Nope. I clicked the link, was brought to the page, put my email in, and it said THERE AREN'T EVEN ANY WAITLIST SPOTS OPEN ANYMORE!!! I am so utterly disappointed with this. Sephora is a major company, you would think they were more organized than this! I've been a beauty insider for years...now I'll have to wait until June to MAYBE?? get a spot? Don't call something a "WAITLIST" if being on it doesn't guarantee ANYTHING.
