Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I know I have more samples that I will ever be able to use ( I am an old lady after all) but I can't stop.  I love getting my grab bag every month but then they just pile up.  I do give some to my daughter, but even parting with those is traumatic.  What do others of you do?

I made a little bag of samples and minis for my sister when she went away to college. I also bought a couple of full sized things to throw in there. She loves Sephora products but she can't afford to buy them very often. I thought it would be fun for her to move into her dorm with a goodie bag of beauty products. She loved it.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I use most of mine, but once a year,  I give dry shampoo, perfume, along with socks, new sneakers, and underwear to the women’s shelter I send money most months.

I like to buy those grab bags of socks and underwear at my local 99 cent store, clearance rack sneakers along with Toiletries and a check for Thanksgiving. It’s a birthday present to myself.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

Great ideas!!!  @howconnie I didn’t think of giving the perfume samples to the women’s shelters. I have a huge bag full of those and mini mascaras Too

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I figured they could use a little fishing up in between showers, they like to receive any new beauty products

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

Yes good thought @howconnie

A couple years ago I bought a ton of mascaras and blush/lip color pots for the women’s shelter. I think the perfume vials would be fun for them! In fact I also have a huge bag of Ulta an Sephora little GWP zipper bags filled with deluxe samples that I’ve been hoarding for a few years as well. I should take all of those there too.

Oh I’m sorry @Anonymous I didn’t see your post. I’m so lazy that way.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

Want to give up any of those little eyeliners/mascaras? I am almost blind and the shorter sizes, make them the perfect size for me.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I know how you feel about sample hoarding. I give extra samples to nice people I meet. I actually started giving out my samples to adults for Halloween. I usually put together Christmas gifts with samples for my loved ones. Please don’t feel bad because they are your samples. But, if you don’t use them all maybe you might get some ideas from the ones I just mentioned above.

RE: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I saw the empties thread and now I'm determined to use them. I do love hoarding them though

RE: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I can’t help myself, I get so excited about getting stuff for free, samples are my joy in life!!! LOL I try to go through them frequently and be realistic about ones I will never use (for example, I already have a moisturizer that I absolutely love, so I give away a lot of my moisturizer samples because I don’t see a point in trying something new when I’ve already found my perfect product). I also put together a monthly box of samples I push myself to use so that they aren’t just sitting around. But I still end up hoarding samples anyway, I just love getting them hahahaha

RE: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

Me to. Lol. I’m on sample overload! I’ve given the duplicates away to my best friend but I still have a bunch of samples left. But, I just can’t unsubscribe.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I love getting so many samples.  I know I would not even give some of these a 2nd look in the store, so I get a chance to try new things sometimes with pleasantly surprising results.  Since I'm a chocolate girl, there are lots of the samples that just wont work for my complexion or hair type.  I give those away to friends/family/co-workers  better suited for them.  People love getting an unexpected little, no reason at all, gift. Having the samples also lets me play with looks, try out new things, and wipe it all way without feeling like I'm wasting money.  Don't hoard them...have fun with them daily!!

RE: Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

Same here. The samples that don’t fit my complexion or products I cant use in my hair I give away to my best friend since she is a lighter complexion than I.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I organize mine, store them in plain sight and make a point to use them before opening a new full size product. No rinse / pre makeup skincare goes in my vanity. Cleansers, masks and exfoliators go in small bins in the bathroom. Perfumes are in a cute box on my dresser. If its easily accessible im more apt to use it. *Some deluxe samples go to my teenage daughter. Deluxe samples make great stocking / gift basket/Easter basket stuffers. Keeping a few essentials in a bag in the car foremergencies seems like a good idea. Ive left the house without mascara a few times.Just try to use them up as fast as you can. Samples have a shorter shelf life.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

They make great gifts to friends on samples I will not use or don’t like. I have sold these samples at flea markets (both my parents passed away and I am unloading other stuff) but women can’t get enough of buying high end samples and this pays me back since I subscribe to so many boxes. The products do take up space this moves them along everyone’s happy

I love getting the samples but I don’t use most of them.  They’re nice for when I DO need them.  The rest of them I send to my daughter who loves them.  She has them sorted into pouches by product type.  With 4 kids she can grab what she needs in a hurry.  We talk about the samples we try and buy the full size products of the ones we really love.

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I am in my 50s and just discovered beauty boxes this year.. so much time wasted!!! I use about 80% of what I get, and have found neighbors or friends who I can share the items that I dont need (the dry shampoos are what I seem to have a ton of) but I like the idea of donating to a battered womans shelter!!! Thanks for that worthwhile idea, guys!!!

Re: Does anyone else feel like a sample hoarder?

I donate my extras to a battered women’s shelter or I sell them in goodie bags on eBay 😉
