Anyone out there with some love for the Playbox??

I feel like every time I check in with this group, people are so angry about Sephora Play and every comment is about cancelling! And while that is obviously their right, I am always confused and kind of bummed to read all the negativity. I never assume I'm going to love every single thing in my box--that's the whole point of the subscription, imo, to find out what I do AND don't like. If there's one great product in my box, great! I can give the rest away and not feel bad because really, this is not very expensive. And I still get excited to get my box each month and read all about the products and give them a shot. Anyone out there on the same page? Would love to see some non-bummer reviews on here. 🙂

I just got my first Sephora Play box. Never done a monthly subscription to any beauty box. I was pleasantly surprised. I could use every item and it gave me good ideas of products I didn't know existed. It's inexpensive and fun. It's also fun to see all these fellow girls on here trying out these products. 🙂  I'm honestly excited to get my next box and I'm glad I subscribed. Go positivity!

Obviously not everyone is going to be satisfied with the products in every box but ive noticed some of the same people are unhappy every single month with the products in their play box. Maybe it's not so much about the play box received, maybe it's that some people refuse to look for a positive in any situation. For me personally, the play box is fun & exciting and full of surprises. I love the feeling of opening that box every month and trying something new and potentially finding a diamond in the ruff. It really doesn't upset me if I receive products that I can't or won't use or even repeats because I know that I can and will really make some girl or woman's day that may not have the means to buy such things for themselves.

Totally feel the same! I adore makeup and part of my job as an MUA is trying new stuff. I’m not going to love all of it, but this is a fun inexpensive way to try out a few things each month! I’ve had my box since it first started about 2 years back and I really enjoy it each month. And I agree, that ALL I see is people saying they are canceling which is why I kinda don’t come here often. I’m a positive girl like you!

@mmck07 YES!! I love my Sephora Playboxes. No, I don't like everything in each playbox and wish I received different products featured in the YouTube video, but oh well. Surprisingly, I have been convinced by a product or two it works well with my profile. Those finds are always the best. I appreciate what the curators do because I know they are not just throwing random products in each box. Otherwise, the Playbox would not survived this long. There also would not be a waiting list. So that tells me Sephora is doing something right. The Playbox has stepped up from their first year. Those around at the beginning know. Sample sizes and brands have improved. Sephora Playbox cannot make all of us happy, but their effort shows. I choose to continuously pay $10/month for this reason. The box is meant to be fun!!

@mmck07 I agree about not getting everything you want. I mean, if you could choose what you wanted wouldn’t that be the same as buying the product? Plus, $10 is a really good deal for all this stuff. Last month I received a mini Nars lipstick that was valued over $10! Since these are SAMPLES, basically, I’m completely fine with them being a little small. If I like it a lot I’ll just go out and buy it!

Yes, I wish the samples in january’s Box were a little larger so I could have gotten a few more uses out of them. And although I wish I would have gotten some different products in my jan box, my December box was awesome and I am still using those products daily. My January box wasn’t bad, I do like the products, they were just small. I’m definitely not going to unsubscribe because Of a few small samples.

I enjoy my play box. There are hits and misses, but i can gift items I don’t care for. For me, the reason I prefer play over the other subscriptions is quality. Yes I could do another subscription and get full sized items for the same price, but i don’t want a full sized lip liner from a brand I’ve never heard of. Subscription boxes and mystery bags should only be signed up for with the acknowledgement you might not like everything, and a willingness to not have control. If you’d rather spend the 10 dollars and pick out your own items, that is a fine choice, but being upset that a bag or box did not have everything from your loves list on it is silly. 

To me, I think there a legitimate complaints about occasional repeats ( I’ve had it happen, not enough to cancel), sometimes the samples not matching a profile at all (I’ve gotten devacurl products and do not have curly hair, which is clear on my profile) and they should definitely allow you to redeem play passes online, since there are plenty of people like me who live hours away from a Sephora. But with all that in mind, I still continue my subscription.

I loved January's box! I've used everything except the eyelash primer. In fact, I already used all of the primerizer and toner.

Yeah people get upset when they don't get exactly what they want each time. But that's impossible. It's a cheap and fun way to discover new products! My first box had belif moisturebomb in it, and I've been a belif devotee ever since.

i have really enjoyed my jan box! i agree with you they are really negitive! i love sephora play its my fav 10 dollar box and I've tried them all! they have the most expensive brands so clearly not everything is going to be big! its a sample to try out ppl! ive found some great products using this subscription!

I love the Play boxes! I know I'm getting quality product and I get to try things I generally wouldn't choose myself. I also like that I can try brands I wouldn't normally splurge on. I never would have chosen this fushia lipstick, but it's nice for a day I'm feeling bold. Plus, I learned I really like the Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick formula.

I love my Sephora Play box and not canceling anytime soon. I have never splurged on myself with high end products before and Play box allows me to try these products out before I spend my hard earned cash on them. I love the sizes I have actually used them for traveling which came in handy and I enjoy the perfume samples as well. I mean we pay $10 a month which I feel for what we are getting it's fair. I always read people complaining about the sizes, perfumes, not enough makeup, the bag etc. It's like Sephora doesn't need to have a subscription box but they are allowing us to try what they sell for $10 a month.

Sephora play is my favorite beauty box. The samples are generous and of high quality. The only thing that makes me sad is that they stopped including the fragrance. I looked forward to trying out a new fragrance every month.

They got rid of the perfumes oh no I really enjoyed them. I would never pay over $20 for a perfume so the samples were perfect for me to feel a little high end without hurting my wallet.

I love getting my Play! box every month! I also really enjoy watching the boxing videos Sephora puts out each month. They explain the theme for the month’s box and go into detail about each of the products they’re sending out. It really gets me excited to receive  my samples and play!
