APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

2019-04-play-community-teaser.jpg

Ready to up your beauty game? Your April box has all the makeup, skincare, and hair care you need to make this month a winner.

Don’t forget to mark the calendar! Your box will arrive the third week of April. Now let’s get to everyone’s favorite thing—hints!

Your April box will contain at least one of these products:

  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara in Black
  • GLAMGLOW Good in Bed Passionfruit Softening Night Cream
  • IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil in Universal Taupe

Re: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

No lip balms, Please.  Guess I'll be giving that away.  I would rather have perfume than hair supplies.

RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

This month samples are like free samples... not the sample products for the money we are paying 🙄

RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

Where can I do my beauty preferences for the products to receive?

Re: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

GLAMGLOW product please. No more mascaras and Clinique moisturisers!

RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

Okay, just got my April PLAY box yesterday. I have to say it had some pretty cool items in it this time!!! I love sharing my samples with my daughter and future daughter-in-law!!! (And they love it too!). Thank you, Sephora!!!! They will ❤️ this month.

RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

I am soooop tired of Sephora play may definitely has to be my last month. I am so tired of getting the same dang thing every month. Didn’t cancel in hopes that I’d get the glam glow good in bed cream but no I got the same Clinique moisturizer I’ve gotten in every other box in addition to stupid Sephora miceller water- it’s legit just water I’m not paying for that? Already subscribed to allure and I know their April box beats this one out 10000x over. Was gonna keep both subscriptions but ladies hop on board with allure if you’re on the same page their stuff is amazing without repeats

I received the GlamGlo-it's in a tiny jar smaller than a quarter in diameter. I MAY be able to squeeze two uses out of it if I use a spatula to scrape the sides!

I've not used the Sephora brand micellar water (I use a different brand). It's good for getting off makeup before your cleansing step, especially the versions targeted for waterproof makeup!

APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

So disappointed in this box. I keep getting the same products over and over in my boxes. Literally the same mascara and eye cream. If I don't get some new products next month I'm cancelling. I love Sephora but this sucks.

Re: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

So this is just a suggestion, but I think the Play! boxes would benefit from a different categorization of the boxes available or a couple extra questions in the profile about the extent of your makeup use/ philosophy. I'm still not advocating for 100% color matches or anything, just something to get in the ballpark for some people. These are my three suggestions:

1) You can choose from 1 of three PREFERRED (but not guaranteed) box options: Mostly makeup, Mostly skincare, or a mix (which would be similar to what it is now)

2) Add a question in the profile about the types of look you prefer/things you are willing to try makeup wise with options like: Mostly nudes/ classics or Gimme the craziest colors you have!

3) Let people choose their  preferred "extra", with options to include: Fragrance, Other foil, or Mix

What I would personally like to see is the inclusion of more tools (like the sephora branded sponge from way back in the beginning, or even a mini brush, temp. tattoos, hairties) and some more adventurous makeup. I like the classics currently being offered, but give me some glitters and blue lipsticks and something wild and fun simply for the joy of trying it! Those are the kinds of things I would need to try before I was ready to purchase them

I would also choose what to put in individual boxes according of the items people have in their wish list. I have 118 items in my wish list and only 2 are make up items, specifically lipsticks. So I would think its pretty obvious I'm not interested in make up only skincare. That should help them decide what to give. I hate getting fragrances especially as I never ever use any, nor I look at them when browsing. So I should never get any. There should be check list on what we would like to receive. I haven't even received my box yet but just saw what's in it and its the worse ever. Also foil packets should never be considered as items for these as they are mostly single or couple uses which is bs. Plus what we use our points on should be good indicator what we might be interested in. at least partially as many times there is not much to choose from. There is definitely a way to make more people happy with what they get if they put some thought into it. At this time there are all kinds of algorithms they can predict what we want as they get enough data when we visit their website.

Re: I would also choose what to put in individual boxes accor...

@Anonymous I totally get what you're saying, I just think that's unrealistic. I personally save my points for the $100 reward or products I like but don't actually want to spend the money on and going to the level of personalization as to see what's in your loves list would be a huge programming undertaking and therefore expensive- which is a cost I don't care to pick up as a customer.

I don't expect every sample to be a winner or something that fits me or my wants exactly, and some of my favorite items have been ones I was initially unexcited about and threw into my "meh" bin and rediscovered later or outright would not have ever chosen or thought I wanted.

I think getting to choose between a skincare or makeup heavy box would satisfy more people, but then you have to be willing to accept that not every product you receive is going to apply to you perfectly even if it meets a general requirement

RE: Re: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

What you just suggested is exactly why I just subbed to ipsy yesterday. Way more personalization options than Play! (I’m not cancelling Play! so I’ll be getting both boxes, let’s see how they compare in the coming months.)

Re: RE: Re: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

@Anonymous Yeah I recently subbed to Allure in addition to this. I get some of people's frustrations but the level of personalization some people expect for $10 is just too much. I was very pleasantly surprised with the Allure box and I am unbelievably stoked that there is a Natasha Denona eyeshadow in this month's box, but it's also clear they are able to provide "more" because they are working with a wider selection of brands which includes drugstore product.

The ratio of hits to misses is basically the same as the play box for me, it's just that now I'm throwing away a full sized product that didn't work out 🤷‍♀️ I will say so far that the skincare and fragrance sample quality is heavily in the play box's favor currently, but makeup has been better in Allure.

Best of luck with Ipsy!

RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

I’m new - only my second beauty box this month... Does everyone get the same things? I know there’s a profile, but is it really used in selecting your personal products? I thought I saw a comment that they received an It Cosmetics Universal Brow Pencil - which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE! However, my box didn’t have one?? I can’t locate the message again to see if the other products match up?? There was also a comment on a bonus item?? What are the requirements that need to be met to get the bonus - or is it just a random pick? Thank you, Beauties! 💋

Re: RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

@cls1974 Usually there's like 3-6 different boxes and the profile you fill out is probably used in some algorithm to determine what your best match would be out of the boxes available, but it won't ever be 100%. Lately the emails showing the products you get have been inaccurate so that might be why you thought you were getting the brow pencil, I hope they get that kink worked out soon. I wouldn't worry too much though, they give out a fair amount of brow products throughout the year generally so you're bound to end up with some

RE: APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

I’m sooooo excited!!!!

APRIL SNEAK PEEK!

Why do we bother with a profile if we get products we don't need? I'm only in the second month of my subscription and I'm already thinking about canceling. I've gotten primer and mascara in both boxes and I don't need either. I'm 51 years old and don't wear a lot of makeup. I joined to get samples of skincare products for mature skin, so I could purchase the products I like. I'll keep my subscription for one more month and if I get more products I don't need, I'm canceling and switching to Ipsy.
