Ready to up your beauty game? Your April box has all the makeup, skincare, and hair care you need to make this month a winner.
Don’t forget to mark the calendar! Your box will arrive the third week of April. Now let’s get to everyone’s favorite thing—hints!
Your April box will contain at least one of these products:
No lip balms, Please. Guess I'll be giving that away. I would rather have perfume than hair supplies.
GLAMGLOW product please. No more mascaras and Clinique moisturisers!
So this is just a suggestion, but I think the Play! boxes would benefit from a different categorization of the boxes available or a couple extra questions in the profile about the extent of your makeup use/ philosophy. I'm still not advocating for 100% color matches or anything, just something to get in the ballpark for some people. These are my three suggestions:
1) You can choose from 1 of three PREFERRED (but not guaranteed) box options: Mostly makeup, Mostly skincare, or a mix (which would be similar to what it is now)
2) Add a question in the profile about the types of look you prefer/things you are willing to try makeup wise with options like: Mostly nudes/ classics or Gimme the craziest colors you have!
3) Let people choose their preferred "extra", with options to include: Fragrance, Other foil, or Mix
What I would personally like to see is the inclusion of more tools (like the sephora branded sponge from way back in the beginning, or even a mini brush, temp. tattoos, hairties) and some more adventurous makeup. I like the classics currently being offered, but give me some glitters and blue lipsticks and something wild and fun simply for the joy of trying it! Those are the kinds of things I would need to try before I was ready to purchase them
@Anonymous I totally get what you're saying, I just think that's unrealistic. I personally save my points for the $100 reward or products I like but don't actually want to spend the money on and going to the level of personalization as to see what's in your loves list would be a huge programming undertaking and therefore expensive- which is a cost I don't care to pick up as a customer.
I don't expect every sample to be a winner or something that fits me or my wants exactly, and some of my favorite items have been ones I was initially unexcited about and threw into my "meh" bin and rediscovered later or outright would not have ever chosen or thought I wanted.
I think getting to choose between a skincare or makeup heavy box would satisfy more people, but then you have to be willing to accept that not every product you receive is going to apply to you perfectly even if it meets a general requirement
@Anonymous Yeah I recently subbed to Allure in addition to this. I get some of people's frustrations but the level of personalization some people expect for $10 is just too much. I was very pleasantly surprised with the Allure box and I am unbelievably stoked that there is a Natasha Denona eyeshadow in this month's box, but it's also clear they are able to provide "more" because they are working with a wider selection of brands which includes drugstore product.
The ratio of hits to misses is basically the same as the play box for me, it's just that now I'm throwing away a full sized product that didn't work out 🤷♀️ I will say so far that the skincare and fragrance sample quality is heavily in the play box's favor currently, but makeup has been better in Allure.
Best of luck with Ipsy!
@cls1974 Usually there's like 3-6 different boxes and the profile you fill out is probably used in some algorithm to determine what your best match would be out of the boxes available, but it won't ever be 100%. Lately the emails showing the products you get have been inaccurate so that might be why you thought you were getting the brow pencil, I hope they get that kink worked out soon. I wouldn't worry too much though, they give out a fair amount of brow products throughout the year generally so you're bound to end up with some
