Pls suggest me a perfect foundation for my oily and acne prone skin i used so many foundations but nothing worked for me my skin is getting darker after i apply foundation

RE: Skincare

I feel your pain. Oily skin is no joke when it comes to foundation issues. I’ve had fairly good success with both the Too Faced Peaches & Cream foundation and the Estée Lauder Double Wear liquid foundation. Neither seemed to oxidize much and both keep my face fairly matte for most of the day. A good primer is also a must. I really like the Hourglass Mineral Veil primer, the Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas primer, and the Bobbi Brown Primer Plus Mattifier. Becca Cosmetics Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector is also supposed to be really good. I hope you find something that works for you.

Re: Skincare

Hi @Siriiiii

I have oily skin too so I totally understand the pain of insane foundation oxidization and foundation "melting" off my skin.  Foundation oxidization is actually common, even for people of all skin types, but not as horrible as oily skinned people.

I found it really important to have a great skincare routine that works for you first.  Use lighter gel moisturizers instead of heavy creams or oils.

Primer is super important too!  I love the Hourglass Veil Primer since it covers pores and doesn't make my skin oily at all.  It also helps the foundation to not oxidize as much.  It's so amazing and I can't recommend it enough!

For foundation, I've also tested and returned a lot of them...  Right now, I'm using the Pat McGrath foundation but it still oxidizes.  Some other ones I've tried that didn't horribly oxidize were the Laura Mercier, Dior Backstage foundation, and Nars (before the formula changed).

When looking for products, I try to find ones that are non comedogenic since they prevent clogged pores.  As someone with oily skin, I have a lot of large pores that get clogged easily.

Also for acne, I recommend retinol products (sunscreen is a must when using retinol!!).  I got mine prescribed from my dermatologist and it's done wonders compared to Sephora products!

Re: Skincare

Finding the right kind of foundation that matches your skin tone, works for your skin type, and looks like second skin is literally like striking gold. If you are a makeup junkie, then you know that this is no easy task and often takes years of trial and error before you can finally find that one foundation that ticks all boxes.

This list will help you pick the best foundation for your oily skin type.

  • Powder foundation: This type of foundation helps absorb excess oil and keeps your skin looking matte for a longer period of time. But the problem with powder foundations is that they tend to oxidise quite easily when mixed with oil-based products, giving your skin a very orange-y or grey effect. Therefore, before picking a powder foundation, we recommend you first test it under natural light or wear it for a couple of hours to see how it settles on your skin. This will help you make a more informed decision.

  • Liquid Foundation: Liquid foundations that settle into a matte finish on your skin are another great option for girls with oily skin. Since your skin is already producing so much oil, choosing aliquid foundation that gives you a dewy finish will make your skin look extra shiny and greasy. That’s not something you want, right? Therefore, picking a liquid foundation with a matte finish is a great choice. The best thing about this foundation texture is that it provides a lot more coverage than your powder foundation, and is perfect forcovering acne scars, blemishes or any other skin problems.

  • Oil-free Foundation: If you have excessively oily skin, and want more coverage than a powder foundation offers, and liquid matte foundations make your skin appear greasy, then an oil-free foundation is your best bet. These foundations come with an anti-shine texture that work beautifully to dissolve excess oil and give your skin a nice matte finish that looks natural and does not cause any sort of breakouts. Awesome, right?
