OPI vs. Essie??

Hey girls,

Just wondering what your favorite nail polish company is? I absolutely adore the Essie packaging and I think the colors are so cute! The polish goes on very well for me, but I've read some reviews of how some think it is streaky. OPI has the reputation of being one of the best. But, when I used their polish the other day, the paint chipped two days later!

What are some of your favorites?? xx come-to-poppy-opi-nail-polish.jpg.pngDSC_1109.JPG

RE: OPI vs. Essie??

Essie has gorgeous colours but they just don’t have lasting power. They start chipping almost immediately, even with base and top coats. My main brand of nail polish is Spa Ritual. It’s vegan and really lasts.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

Essie has very pretty colours but they do not last as long as OPI.

RE: OPI vs. Essie??

I love OPI! Essie polishes chip way too fast for me, and are not as opaque as OPI’s are.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

In my case , I put Essie, Formula X and OPI in the same category! All 3 brands last about 10 days without chipping. When I use Essie, I use their base coat and their top coat in the Gel Setter formula. As far as top coats with glitter, I prefer Formula X . OPI are very opaque so I might just need one coat for full coverage. All 3 have a different advantage! The absolute worst are the Revlon ones, they might have nice colors but they chip very fast so I avoid them!

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

Essie nail polishes are adorable and they have beautiful colors, but... I when I bought my first one (Lilacism)  Ifound that the color changed from lilac to blue over the course of a few days.  It is not supposed to be a color changing polish.  Some research on the internet showed this is a common problem, even with whole bottles changing color over time.  Essie says this is from UV exposure.  All I know is OPI never has this problem, even when I had acrylic nails and kept same color for 2 weeks.  Don’t understand why no one else has noticed this and how it has not affected their popularity.

RE: OPI vs. Essie??

It really depends what you are using each brand for. With the Essieproducts it is very inconvenient when you have a light shade and need toput several coats. I have not tried out any OPI products personally, but I have heard they are very good. In my opinion, Essie products look better and have a cleaner look.

OPI vs. Essie??

I always have terrible luck with Essie. OPI, in my experience, is the best!

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I tend to get longer lasting nails with OPI.  Also, I much prefer the brush with OPI.  Essie is a bit streaky but I still like Essie colors.  Overall, I usually buy OPI.

RE: OPI vs. Essie??

I like OPI more because of their gel colors, but honestly I’m pretty happy with either brand. I wouldn’t say one is really worse than the other. Only pet peeve with OPI is some of their colors are very opaque, so for those I usually look for a Essie color dupe.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I used to be an exclusively OPI girl, but lately I've been loving Essie and Formula X more.  However, even though the color selection is more limited, I've found that in terms of staying power and application, Rimmel Salon Pro is amazing! I've had it stay on for over a week without chipping, which is quite the feat on my thin nails!

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

OPI seems to last longer for me then Essie.  The only time I noticed that Essie lasts longer is when I use only the Essie base coat.  If I use another brand, doesn't last long.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I think my favourites are Zoya and Julep. They both have lovely, lovely colour selections, and I have yet to purchase a dud formula from either - though Im certain they exist!

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

Essie displays are always so pretty in the store though.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I do have a Essie nail polish but it isn't my favorite because it doesn't last long. I discovered Formula X and even though it's pricey, it lasts about a week if you use the system by Formula X! Smiley Very Happy I do like Revlon and Essie though, but Formula X definitely has a long lasting staying power of you use the system!;-)

Beautiful colors BTW! Love those pinks<3

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I love both brands, especially Essie's color range and cream finishes. Though most of my nail polishes are Essie, they can be hit or miss. I have some colors that last a full week on my nails with no chips, and others that chip within an hour (I'm looking at you, Butler Please) It's really a gamble. But China Glaze and Zoya are also some of my favorite brands- they offer a wide range of colors and finishes, and last the longest for me!

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I have always been an OPI girl. I enjoy everything about OPI, the bottle shape, handle, brush shape, color names, color selection, and collections. Year ago I only used OPI base and top coat. I have since switched to Out the Door topcoat and Seche Vite top coat. With these my OPI will usually last 5 days with no chipping and minimal chip wear. Recently, I have started getting into Essie (which I have always avoided because it chipped quickly on me) but now I am having no problem with Essie polishes chipping. I have read about some have that problem with Essie or OPI and I'm really wondering if it is the base coat and/or topcoat being used. Just a thought. I love OPI, I will always be an OPI girl but Essie has some great color selections that OPI just doesn't offer.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I personally prefer OPI over Essie. I find the application to be easier for me with OPI (probably the brush). My favorite brush though, is from the Sally Hansen complete salon manicure polish. It's a flatter brush, which I like.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I LOVE the Sally Hansen brushes. I can't believe more companies haven't adopted the flat brush.

I actually find her Complete Salon Manicure to be pretty good, especially for the price and the fact that it goes on sale fairly frequently, unlike Essie. As much as I'd love to stock up on Chanel, Dior and Tom Ford, I just can't bring myself to spend more than about $7.

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I love the SH flat brush too!

Re: OPI vs. Essie??

I usually only buy OPI because I get them at a nail supply place that gives me a big discount. I love their colors and the wide brush they have. However, I like that Essie has cute colors and that they are in a square bottle, it makes them easier to store
