Hi, I had eczema on my face when I was in high school. It started to get super scaly and dark, and it began spreading. What helped me was daily exfoliation and massaging extra virgin coconut oil (look for the cold pressed) into it. I would even touch it up between classes as soon as it started feeling dry again. My chin looked greasy and some people asked me why, I told them it was none of their business and kept it up, and my eczema vanished. After the scales went away and only the dark spot remained, I kept exfoliating. In college I discovered the Murad dark spot remover and I used it on that area and a few acne scars that I had and my chin looks like I never had eczema there. Something else that helped was switching my cleansers and other skin care products to more natural, cleaner options from what I used initially. The eczema helped me realize that I have slightly sensitive skin, so I'm more cautious when it comes to what I put on my face. If you haven't already, switch to gentler soaps and try gently exfoliating the area every few days or daily if you can. Try coconut oil or any other moisturizing oils that help with repairing skin and simply touch up as soon as your skin begins to feel dry again. When the scales go away, you can try a gentle spot remover if you have any dark marks left behind. I hope this works for you! Be blessed 👍🏽❤️

Thanks for the reply @SportyGirly125 I have not talked to a dermatologist, it didn’t occur to me they may be able to help with postpartum skin issues. With COVID a lot of doctors in my state are only seeing patients in the office who absolutely must be seen so I am not sure if they would see me for a cosmetic reason plus I would need a referral from my primary care doctor who I know would not see me for this right now. I can ask if my dr about a telemedicine visit to refer me but this is so low on the list of priorities I am not sure if she will even do that ☹️If my skin could just pick one thing this would be so much easier to navigate but it is so all over the place nothing works consistently! I’m not sure if there is anything a dermatologist can do since this boils down to hormones but it can’t hurt to ask, thanks for the suggestion!

Just curious how accurate the shades look online compared to in person with the YSL all hours concealer. I have fair skin and my concern is my hereditary dark circles. I do like a little brightening under the eyes, but nothing crazy. I have neutral undertones but like hauling neutral/pink undertone concealers because the pink helps balance the dark color. So I am torn between shade 1 or 1.5. For reference I am the shade light in flower beauty concealer (and that’s my perfect color, not too bright but still enough) and the Charlotte tilbury undereye corrector in the lightest shade is also a good shade match for me. Any suggestions and opinions help! 🙂

I’ve been trying out new looks - Going through my make up and tossing things that are expired - i’ve been experimenting with trying to do a reasonably decent “cut crease” eyeshadow look and I’ve been wearing lipstick and foundation around the house to see which ones hold up throughout the day and how transferable/long wearing they are… That way if they smudge or clump or breakdown nobody’s around to see it! Lol

First things first… make sure you’re using a good moisturizer and a good primer. I personally like to put on my foundation after that and then I put on concealer and blend it out. But I know that some people do it in reverse. Either way is fine nothing is wrong when it comes to make up The reason why I do foundation before Concealer is because I have a hard time blending foundation into concealer and less trouble blending concealer into foundation — so that you can’t see the line where the to match up. But sometimes that can depend on the product you are using. The chemistry that’s involved and your skin.

Hi mamas,Just turned 30 today and had a baby 9 months ago. Growing up my skin was always oily and acne prone but the last couple years that changed. And now after having a baby my skin is so dreary and dull. It’s dry but still sometimes a little prone to very small breakouts. And my pores are so dark and huge (pic included). My skin looks like I’m double my age. I’m an outdoorsy, laid-back type when it comes to make-up and skin care. I’m looking for a simple but powerful routine/care line. Please help with recommendations! Thanks in advance!!

Hi Mama! I’d also recommend BHA. I love Paula’s Choice. I use a BHA that is applied in the morning and then a higher concentration as an overnight serum. I also use DE’s Babyfacial once a week. My skin was uneven and I needed to smooth out my texture. But I feel that was a turning point in getting blackheads under control. Hydration is super key. I cleanse twice in the evenings when I wear makeup and use very hydrating serums/moisturizers at night.

I looove the Australian Gold mineral face sunscreen. It's SPF 50, water-resistant and says it's lightly tinted, but i don't notice it at all on me. I get it on Amazon for $20CAD. I don't think there are sunscreens that are waterproof, only water resistant. You should typically reapply after getting wet or sweating a lot.

Chanel Ultra le Teint Velvet is my all time favorite but sells out constantly so I’m using IT Cosmetics CC Cream and Shiseido BB Sport. IT CC is full coverage and you can definitely feel it on your skin but it doesn’t make me break out. The Sports BB lasts forever and is so light you forget it’s on your face. I tried Kosas Tinted Oil, which I wanted to love but if you have any dry patches, it looks horrible.

I really love the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Facial Barrier Mask Ceramidin™ Facial Mask when I feel like some peace and quiet and pampering. Even though its a slimey and cold and wet it also feels quite luxurious - once you get past the slimey/cold/wet part. My skin loves it and glows afterwards. I also like to keep a stash of this on hand ~ Guerlain Midnight Secret Late Night Recovery Treatment Anti-Fatigue Serum. A great overnight moisturizer for when you're feeling rundown and when you look it. Like all things Guerlain it smells divine which instantly makes you feel less stressed. I'm not sure how it works but you will wake up looking refreshed.

I am a big fan of the 10-step K-beauty routines and I recommend you googling up the steps if you're really interested! It's been a life changer for me 🙂 I tend to use a variety of different brands, ranging from Korea, Japan, France, and of course, North America-- it all depends on your skin type and skin-concerns/needs. For cleansers, I use the double cleanse method and use: Shiseido AquaLabel oil cleanser & I alternate between Caudalie Vinopure cleanser, Caudalie foaming cleanser, and Etude House Soon Jung-- another K-beauty branded foaming cleanser (this one is ULTRA gentle and pH-balanced **my all-time fav** As for the eyes, I use Caudalie's SOS serum. For mouth, I recommend Laneige's sleeping lip mask, as well as, their Glowy Lip Balm. Moisturizer is VERY important, along with sun protection, and what is effective really depends on your skin type and skin-concerns. I use a combination of K-beauty and American/European products for serums and moisturizers, depending on what my skin's needs are. My all time favs though, would be Caudalie's whipped moisturizer and Cosrx's oil free Birch Sap moisturizer. If you'd like a nice moisture pick-me-up, I recommend Laneige's water sleeping mask. My skin is completely baby soft in the morning and feels hydrated most of the week! If you'd like advice on where to find K-beauty products, please don't hesitate to reach out to me 🙂 Hope I was able to help in some way! Stay safe and beautiful~~

I am not a mother but I have been a teenager (who would have guessed) so I thought I reply anyway.I think a lot depends on your daughter's personality, your relationship & how far you can still influence her - I honestly think at a certain age kids look elsewhere for role models (for better or worse) & not at their parents, which is natural, healthy & important to become independent. I went through a phase where I didn't care much about my appearance either, I think many teenagers do & I don't think it is necessarily something to be concerned about. There are a lot of changes one goes through as a teenager, a lot one needs to get used to or grow into. Just think back, there is a lot going on during puberty. 😉I think there isn't much you can do at the moment. She has her own mind & teenagers need to figure out themselves who they want to be & find themselves, so to speak. She will most likely find some interested in make-up & skincare again when it matters to her. I don't think anything has to do with you being a poor role model. Don't worry too much about it. Let her go through that phase & take care of yourself, she will see that. Just set a good example now & if you can still have an influence on her there maybe that helps for now. 😉
