The Color IQ skin tone scan or online Shade Finder can be helpful - there are times when they've been spot on and other times, not as close. Sometimes, the best matches I've found have come from the Community. Please share the foundations and concealer shades that work well for you.

@jaaayp, the Makeup by Mario concealer is okay. If you can get a good color match, and didn't have other concealers you like, I'd say maybe give it a go. I have it a shade that's too dark for me for an all over shade in general - it's a little better now because I have a slight tan - and I mean very slight; I think I'm the only one who sees it. Hahaha! The shade I currently have works to conceal dark spots and blends into whatever base I'm using so I've stuck with it, and I just want to get in some wear so I feel like I'm not wasting, but there are a few other concealers I have that I've been wanting to play with more - like the Tower 28 and Natasha Denona ones.

Got it @itsfi it helps! I think I like to stick to foundation and concealer a click lighter because I use a lot of contour & bronzer to warm up my complexion although I agree, sometimes using a lighter concealer on the dark spot makes everything worse 😂 what about the dior....? I have a new found love (again) with dior and I'm just eyeing everything!

P.S. here I am curious about concealer when I literally just bought another nars creamy this morning...

@jaaayp, lol, lighter concealer + dark spots. Not a great combo, at least for me. 😩 I tend to keep a couple of concealers on hand that are darker than what I would use for redness, undereye or a foundation substitute, for that reason - to conceal my dark spots better. I tell myself that I'm making use of what I have.

I feel like there are, at least, a handful of us that resonate with your postscript - at least a handful. 😂🤣😂 And, it's not limited to concealer, either. I've been generally good on my beauty spend so far this year, but there have definitely been moments when it takes some extra effort to resist.

I really am enjoying both Dior concealers - DIOR Dior Forever Skin Correct Full-Coverage Concealer and DIOR Backstage Concealer - here are swatches of 1.5N (Dior Forever) and 2N (Dior Backstage) and a pic of what the brush on each looks like.

Oh my goodness, yes! to eyeing everything Dior! Welcome to the rabbit hole, girl! 😅 It's a fabulous rabbit hole, fyi - but I'm sure you know that. The twenty-tens were about their shoes and other accessories, and J'adore fragrance for me. 2020 saw masks, nail treatments, and lippies (my gateway to most beauty brands), with a more in depth appreciation 😅 for their makeup collection in 2021, and more of the same and skincare the following year, along with their nail polish range. Anythig in particular caught your eye?

That's a great idea @itsfi I've basically just not been concealing redness or dark spots LOL well, no, that's not completely true.. I do it with heavier foundations if I feel like my skins not being great. I'm finding it that the better my skins been (the last months have been awesome, hopefully I don't jinx 🤞 ), the less I need to fully concealer. I'm also noticing that the older I get, the more I'm appreciating the natural-ness(?) vs full glam/coverage. Also, I'm sure it's a summer thing, I just wanna slap and go LOL

Awesome swatches @itsfi ! Thank you 🥰 i always find so interesting when a particular brand shades are different depending on the product. Im sure it has something to do with like oxidization and formulation blah blah. Do you use either or of the dior concealer under the eyes? Im always looking for the perfect concealer that does not crease into my undereye canyons....

I think it was always about small accessories for me (necklaces, earrings, etc.) Vs like bags or shoes, although... they are technically also considered accessories lol 😆 im always like... on the fence about Dior Skincare. I think they're good but not sure if theyre worth the $, I want them but not my favs.

Makeup on the other hand.. I'm finally getting into them and they're knocking it out of the park so far 🙌

@jaaayp, most days I have been able to get by with just a little bit of foundation or concealer on my cheeks and around my nose/upper lip to conceal some healing pimples. Ugh. I tend to use skin tints more but like having at least one go to medium coverage and full coverage foundation … just in case.

I have used the Dior Backstage concealer on my undereye - to conceal dark circles. 😔 So much better when I was on vacation. Maybe that’s the answer - always be on vacation. Hahahaha!

LOLOL @itsfi I agree. Vacation = no stress = deeper/better sleep = no dark circles = life is good, better. I just checked my order history and it looks like 2 years ago, I did pick up the dior body concealer... seems like I returned it 🤔 I just don't know why... I think I need to give it some thought..

Thanks for the tag, @itsfi ! I use foundation only on and around my nose (unless I need to mask a sunscreen’s white/lavender cast), and I don’t do that daily. But I’ll pull together some swatches of the ones that work for my weird skin tone(s). And since I have a deeper skin tone, I’ll also include some tinted sunscreens (that come in a range of shades, like Fenty’s) that work well for me. And I’ll probably cross-post all my swatches in The Deeper Hues Thread (Swatches, Color Matching, etc.)

Concealer matches depend a lot on where/how/why you use concealer. Example: the shade someone uses to brighten the center of their face might not work to conceal dark undereye circles (requires a different undertone for color correction). The former won’t be a skin tone match; it’ll be lighter, and a lot of people seem to lean toward using a different undertone from their natural skin tone there. The latter (concealing discoloration) can change depending on what else you use under your eyes: if you start with your foundation, separate color corrector, or some kind of brightener, that’ll change the color of your discoloration—so a concealer that matches your skin tone may work fine over the other product, or you might still need a concealer with a slightly yellow, orange, or peach undertone. And if my rambling sounds like I’m overcomplicating things, just wait til y’all see my swatches. 🤣 Seriously though, these are things to consider when listing concealer matches.
