What are your Foundation and Concealer Matches?

The Color IQ skin tone scan or online Shade Finder can be helpful - there are times when they've been spot on and other times, not as close. Sometimes, the best matches I've found have come from the Community. Please share the foundations and concealer shades that work well for you.

@itsfi Thank you! I would say that the preference between KVD and EL would be EL for the shade match all year. However, I like how KVD feels in the winter. It is a better shade match for me during the winter months aswell!

Yes, we definitely are shade twinsies ❤️ same skin type too it seems! Although during the summer, I'm definitely OILY and during the winter, normal/dry

My current MOST LOVED shades matches (I dont really reach for the others in my stash.. i really should declutter 😅😞

• MAC studio fix powder NC25 NC20 [I am old school and this shade is my ABSOLUTE perfect match, it literally looks like I'm not wearing anything at all]
• DIOR Dior Forever Matte Skincare Foundation 1.5N Neutral [this is like the perfect match of all time in terms of liquid foundation. New GOAT. I swear this foundation does not breakdown under any circumstances for me!]
• HAUS LABS BY LADY GAGA Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation with Fermented Arnica 100 Light... [second best after Dior. This one leans tiny bit cool]
• Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Perfect Glow Flawless Oil-Free Foundation 4 [I think I can go for 3.5 since I feel like I've lightened a bit... but I can rock this just fine and the undertone is perfect! 
• Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place 24-Hour Longwear Foundation 1W2 Sand [this is almost perfect. Leans sliiiiightly cool on me but I can definitely get away with bronzer. This is kind of a staple in my stash, kinda like the Nars creamy or Benefit Hoola. I think I've gone through more bottles of this vs Armani and I've gone through a LOT of Armani... 😂]
• Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting & Smoothing Talc-Free Vegan Powder Breezy [good match, it's a setting powder but add tiny bit of color]
• Tower 28 Beauty SunnyDays SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen Foundation 15 Melrose [good match, comes off a tiny bit cool on me]
• Tower 28 Beauty Swipe All-Over Hydrating Serum Concealer 3.0 CC [same here, it's a good match for Melrose but still comes off a little cool]
• MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Skin Matte Velvet Blurring Foundation & Setting Powder 1Y08 Warm Porcelain [closest I've found to MAC NC25! It's not as finely milled imo but a pretty high competitor]
• #MAKE UP FOR EVER REBOOT Y225 [it won't let me tag but this is pretty amazing. I think it's going to be discontinued or already is...?]
• NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with Medium Coverage Vanilla [GOAT. no explanation needed]
• SEPHORA COLLECTION Microsmooth Multi-Tasking Baked Face Powder Foundation 15 Fair [amazing. It's basically a dupe for kosas but more coverage]
• HUDA BEAUTY Mini Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder Banana Bread [I'm pretty fair and this shade wasn't recommended to be but for setting overall face, it works. Maybe not just for highlighting under the eyes]

Ahhhh, this is super helpful for me personally @jaaayp - but now I have more foundations I want to try. 😅  MAC NC25 is your perfect match? How interesting. Hmmmm... I used to be matched to NC25 when I was in school but now that shade is too dark on me. Me thinks I need to do some investigating at some point.

I was wrong @itsfi 😂😂 I'm NC20. I think I was also NC25 at one point but then I guess not anymore LOL I don't even remember when my shade changed!!!

Ahhh, okay @jaaayp, NC 20. 😆 At first, I second guessed myself on my recollection of NC25. I can do anywhere from NC17 / NC18 - NC20, depending on how much sun I'm exposed to ... or, more often than not, not exposed to!

To be honest, I feel like I am still figuring out my complexion shade matches/undertones etc. as I go along 😅 but I will try to do some swatches of products I have and have used that have worked for me so far (hopefully tomorrow/this weekend?). Love this idea for a thread BTW, I think it will likely be helpful to a lot of folks!

That makes perfect sense @caitbird! Identifying the products and shades that work for you is great; as could be sharing a foundation that has a formulation you like but may be too (pink, or yellow or ??) - others may be in the same boat or someone may be able to provide you with a better match.

My intention with this thread is to provide a resource for people, whether they’re just stopping by to see if there’s someone with the same skin type and tone as they have or if they are sharing their foundation matches. The color IQ is nice to have but it has its limitations. This won’t be perfect all the time either and that’s okay but it may prove helpful to someone as well. 👍🏼
