@tigergirl20 Can't wait to hear! While I see a lot of influencer videos are up, I'm a BIC girl and prefer to trust this board. Having said that, I am liking some of the swatches and the wearability. So, again, can't wait to hear your thoughts!
Hi @meganlisa 🙂 Yesterday morning I had the palette in my cart and was ready to push the PayPal Pay button and just didn’t.
if I was staring out on a Collection I would totally buy it. I trust Tati will put out a great product but I have so many amazingly beautiful palettes already that I barely ever or never use. I just can’t justify to myself.
It doesn’t seem like this will be a limited edition as she designed it like a book and named it volume 1 and talked about building a collection with this palette being the start so I decided to wait.
Wait see if it really is amazing
Wait to see if I can declutter to justify
Wait to see how I feel when not battling FOMO
Wait to see if I can’t live without it....
So dramatic LOL
@PaletteAddict99 My husband has been hinting that I should get rid of stuff. I told him, "Makeup is my hobby and eyeshadow palettes are my medium. It sparks creativity and joy for me, so no, I'm not getting rid of anything!" LOL, sorry to be throwing Marie Kondo under the bus like that but here we are. He said I raised good points, so I get to keep my stuff, for now at least!
He doesn't know I just bought the Honey palette or that CT eyes to mesmerize palette. I've actually been having fun lately, rotating through old palettes and trying stuff out. I bought the Cherry palette last year and just opened it about two weeks ago.
That being said, I tend to have very little respect for youtubers' makeup. Looking at you, Jaclyn Hill, Charles James, etc. To me they all seem like a cash grab. Unless they're really making something so innovative and stand out, but they're usually not. They're usually just slapping their name on something made in some god awful factory in China somewhere. Pass!
Same as you @itscarin @meganlisa . It's such a fun hobby and so relaxing! I just love my morning routine (before going at my stressful job), doing my makeup with my latte and good music. Although I can hear myself saying "I have enough makeup for the rest of my life", I still can justify buying more palettes because "they are outside my comfort zone". Why not trying them, then? 😄💜🤦
@itscarin Makeup is my hobby too and I mostly don't feel guilty. Ok, there is the occasional, "hm, maybe I didn't need every shade" and then I shrug it off. But I don't buy every shade next time. Makeup is creative, and fun. We get to play with colors and feel pretty then wash it all off. My issue these days is that I am getting overload. The releases are unrelenting. Not that they aren't beautiful but I can't decide (Um, my cart for the 20% off starting Friday).
I wonder if the starting point of a line today matters less than adding something new and fresh. And with the deluge of really pretty releases, it's hard to be that something above. At the end of the day, us makeup lovers have some great options.
And, your husband sounds great. First, he communicated. Second, he heard you when you responded (and didn't just brush off your makeup talk). Last, he understands that something matters to you and decided to let you keep and and just let it go. You have a great man.
@PaletteAddict99 Not dramatic. The reality of loving makeup. I've been looking at it as well and have been just short of "buy". Hence the BIC post to see what others are doing. Tati was an early youtuber for me as well and, as such, I do trust her. After all, she likes glitter. But I am just short of justifying a new palette. I will look forward to the comments and swatches here on BIC before committing - just like you!
As the youtube reviews are rolling in, I'm trying really hard not to let myself purchase this. I just have too much eyeshadow and not enough eyes!
I love her story about the mattes and if they're really that good, it's worth it just for the neutral shades alone (except, thank goodness, I already have a bunch of Viseart!). I also love the thoughtful layout of the palette-- not a garish, jumbled vomit of color, but organized meticulously so it's way easier to take it all in. Apparently a cohesive look can be created even on each diagonal!
The idea of 6 tones, 4 finishes each is genius. I suspect there will be many complaints about the neutrals and not enough brights, but to me this is one of the best things about the whole concept. These are everyday workhorse colors that will be used frequently in nearly every look, with many variations in texture and finish, so you can really amp up the glitz and glam. Honestly if she had the same palette with only neutrals I probably would have purchased it by now. At this point in my collection, I'm trying to only purchase items that I know I'll use on a daily basis.
@drrragon /and I have been sitting here pondering if glitters are "neutrals." Not sure I have an answer. For those of us with quite a collection (understatement) we need weigh each purchase (sort of). I am liking the swatches here, and am finding that (shockingly) I wear my neutrals more often. The palette is well thought out. I haven't bought it yet but am debating.
@meganllisa i feel you girl!!! I shouldn't buy it, but i really want to! Good point about the glitters (and it sounds like these are super super glittery ...nsfw!). I would definitely be using the mattes, sequins and metallics often but the glitters would jjust be for playtime or special events.
I'm leaning towards indulging here and promising myself to not go crazy for the holiday releases. I've had my eye on the Dior, Chanel, and Tom Ford ones but I think I could let them go for this one. It seems fresh and innovative.
@drrragon The Tati palette is temping - and she did light shades as well. I have an ABH custom palette from a past black friday when I need to blend out the high drama/super pigmented shades in so many palettes these days.
I did Ghost, the DE trunk/fridge, a few la mer and a few Pat M. So can I still justify this?
@meganlisa omg yes those light shades are so tempting! and the different finishes seem to have complex sparkles 😍😍 can we justify it, that is the question!! 😢😢
after organizing some of my collection tonight, thankfully the lemming has subsided for now. I'm more willing to wait for reviews and general first impressions. As someone mentioned, it doesn't seem to be LE so that should help with FOMO.
@drrragon Eventually we reach the point where we can wait on one more gorgeous palette. The light shades, the different textures, we know that we would use them. Then there is the reality of what we already have. If this palette were less basic (with a kick) I wouldn't be interested. But,...it's pretty...
@lmaster I've been waiting for the reviews also but really like the shades in the palette. Lovely and so useable. Let us know if you get it (and thoughts?)? Thx
@meganlisa My OCD really appreciates the organization of this palette haha.
@Samtian So with you. Sick of the palettes with just a deluge of shades that don't work together. Not naming names, but we have seen a few lately.
Not a big fan of her, but I am curious to see how her beauty line performs. 🙂
@Asche I'm curious as well. What is the best way to start a beauty brand? These launches are always interesting. I'm currently eyeing the new Huda palette.
I bought it. I love me some glitter/ shimmer!!
@GG84 have you tried the Pixi glitter quads? They're pretty good for pressed glitters.
