Shiseido has had a long history overseas. In 1897 they introduced their first cosmetic product, the Eudermine lotion, which is still being sold today.
This week Shiseido announced that they are revamping their entire cosmetic line, in a bid to increase traction with the millennial and younger market.
Lots of interesting new makeup products are being launched, including brushes, with rebranded packaging but many existing products are being retired.
I think we're about to start seeing a lot more of the brand in North America, so I thought they deserved their own thread.
Have you been eying anything from the new line? What do you think of the rebrand?
Lol @MissPuff !
I figured it was going to be the nars Orgasm-Esque shade (thats actually why I skipped it)
Shiseido owns NARS and one of the main MUA who worked on developing this new range was with NARS for many years 😉 so I’m sure there is some crosspollination
@Mochapj Ah-haaaa! That makes sense now! Have you tried any of the blush powders? I'm trying to decide if they are magical/unique enough to pick up as well, as I'm currently drowning in blushers, but cannot stop buying them!
@MissPuff I haven't tried any of the powders yet; I was hoping to see those in person.
None of them really blew me away from the promo photos but I was very glad to see they brought back the Medusa highlighter. In this current 'all the colours' highlighting era, it doesn't look all that groundbreaking but back when they released it years ago (LE in North America, I believe) it was quite unusual to have an icy pink. It's a really beautiful shade for pale girls, IMO.
@MissPuff I picked up Medusa Pink from the new powders 🙂 I still have it (somewhere...) in the old formula, so I'm hoping to compare them because I just love Medusa Pink. I've actually often used it as a touch up finishing powder.
Beautiful swatches, @Mochapj.Thank you so much for sharing! I have been thinking of purchasing Chiyoko, Sonoya, Kokei, and Sayoko. Do they have any shimmer/sheen to them?
@lachaton some have a little bit of shimmer to them, but it's pretty faint.
Of the ones I have, the one with the most prominent shimmer is Momoko. I've read/heard that the Sonoya shade has quite a bit of gold shimmer but I haven't seen it in person to confirm.
I picked up one of the new Visionary Gel lipsticks - I really love the formula! I'm still testing it for the day, but my initial impression is positive. It has a very light texture while applying - truly like a gel. Highly pigmented, slightly glossy. But then it does seem to dry down a bit - it does feel lightly tacky but it didn't bother me (and not at all like a gloss). But it feels like it will not budge. It was not transfer proof, but transfer was minimal. I could blot some of the colour off with a tissue, but most of the pigment stayed. If I licked my lips a bit, the rest of the colour wiped off easily.
It's a very interesting formula, exactly what I would expect to find from Shiseido. I picked up couple other products from the new line, and I'm looking forward to trying them out!
This is 227- Sleeping Dragon.
beautiful color on a beautiful girl 🙂
Thanks for sharing the wearability of these. Sounds like they live up to their promise. Can't wait to get mine 🙂
It's a gorgeous color, @lachaton! It's nice to know that there is staying power, too.
@lachaton It’s a very pretty shade on you. The formula sounds very interesting.
@lachaton That color is beautiful on you! The formula is quite interesting right?! I've picked up a few colors myself and definitely want more, the whipped blushes are calling my name well!
@moxiepancakes are these a few of them?
Cross post from swatches thread. I really like the revamped lips so far. Beautiful application and colorations. I’ve enjoyed some of their stuff from many years ago as well so will be nice to see this newness from them. ( I mistakenly thought this was a D Page thing having missed your post.)!Here are a few of mine so far and adding some others today with the sale!!Exotic Red, Velvet Rope, Mixed Drama ( and pup lol)
I agree @PenelopeBT! It’s a deep shade but it’s still so flattering isn’t it?! I love it!
I love that photo of the lip swatches! So so many, wrist to armpit!
