Shiseido has had a long history overseas. In 1897 they introduced their first cosmetic product, the Eudermine lotion, which is still being sold today.

This week Shiseido announced that they are revamping their entire cosmetic line, in a bid to increase traction with the millennial and younger market.

Lots of interesting new makeup products are being launched, including brushes, with  rebranded packaging but many existing products are being retired.

I think we're about to start seeing a lot more of the brand in North America, so I thought they deserved their own thread.

Have you been eying anything from the new line? What do you think of the rebrand?

I am so excited to see this line at Sephora, @Mochapj! I just bought Shiseido Modern Matte Powder Lipstick 506 Disrobed and opted for the beauty offer as well-a very bold color choice for me but I can hardly wait for this to arrive!!!

Do we know what products will be retired yet? Shiseido makes my favorite mascara, if it gets discontinued I might scream, lol.

While I am excited to see what the brand has to offer, I read that part of their marketing will be handled by Influenster. Makes sense since they want to catch the younger crowd, but I can't help but cringe at the influx of carp that will bring to BIC 😣

I hadn't read that but that really turns me off. I mean, I'm obviously not the market they're trying to capture, and I know the younger generation is more into the whole influencer culture than I personally am, but ughhhhhh.

I did read that they've tapped a 16 year old ice skater to be the face of the brand, though.

Thanks @RGbrown I'm still cautiously optimistic, although perhaps a bit less so now that I've read that.
 

I've loved what I've tried of Shiseido's older products (the lacquer rouges are some of my fave non-matte liquid lipsticks, their Synchro Skin Foundation is what I reach for on the odd occasions I wear foundation and their powder highlight is top notch) 

I'm also a huge fan of James Aaron Boehmer since his days at NARS. I've been following the behind the scenes details he's been posting over the past year as he's worked through creating these products, so I have faith that at the very least they will be good even if the marketing strategy sucks 😄
