7) A product you missed out on, or haven't bought yet, but really want

8 ) Did your makeup routine change in any way?

9) What makeup trend do you think will be big next year?

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

Thanks, @JoSometimes for giving me a nudge to come out and play. LOL 😁

1) Your favorite purchase of the year- why?

The Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm Trio (no longer available in Canada, alas!). The colours and fragrances and general experience are so luscious and feel very pampering. The trio had vanilla, iced coffee, and cherry. So delicious.

2) A purchase you regret- why?

Oddly enough, it was one I never expected - I bought the L'Occitane Premium Advent calendar directly from their website, since Sephora didn't offer it. I mean, the products are lovely, but because I was moving, I wasn't able to enjoy the reveals as much as I did in 2022. And I still have a lot of items left from my 2022 Advent calendar. So it wasn't anything to do with L'Occitane, just that I wasn't really in the right headspace for it. It just seemed like more things to have to find a place to put away in my new suite.

3) Most expensive purchase- was it worth the money?

That again would be the L'Occitane premium Advent calendar. I think it would be worth the money if I were in the right headspace for it. For instance, there's lots of minis of their skincare items, which are very pricy. But in hindsight, it wasn't the form of self-care that I needed in December.

4) Most hyped product you bought- was it worth it?

I think the most hyped product would be the Summer Fridays vegan lip balms trio - see question 1. I was a little skeptical about the hype, but I'm a convert now!

5) Did you spend less, the same, or more than other years?

Next question, please. LOL

6) Rediscovered loves or underrated/underhyped makeup discoveries

I tried lip oils for the first time.

7) A product you missed out on, or haven't bought yet, but really want

Dermalogica Pro Collagen Banking Serum with Polyglutamic Acid 1 oz / 30 ml and a moisturizer to go with, not sure which one yet. I have a trial size of their Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance Moisturizer so we'll see how that goes.

8 ) Did your makeup routine change in any way?

You mean from not wearing anything but lip balm? Nope, but my gratis has made me feel like getting back into it. Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara doesn't smudge - who knew such a fabulous unicorn product existed?!

9) What makeup trend do you think will be big next year?

Honestly, I have no clue, but I can always hope that it will be "wrinkles are sexy", right?

10) What was your favorite body product or fragrance?

Top favourite so far is Tatcha Mini Hinoki Body Milk Lotion 1.7 oz / 50 mL and I should also give a shout-out to Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Find Comfort Stop & Soothe Aromatherapy Pen 0.16 oz / 5 mL

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@Westcoasty I also tried the Summer Fridays lip balms this year and really loved them. They smell so good!

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@makeitup305  I totally agree! So delicious.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@Westcoasty wrinkles are sexy, the sign of a well lived life

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CorgiMommy  Darned tootin'!! We've earned our laugh lines fair and square.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

AMEN TO YOUR # 5 AND 9 @Westcoasty 😂😂😂

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

LOL @jaaayp  I thought I might not be the only one feeling that way, on both counts!! 🤣

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@Westcoasty Thanks for coming out to play! 😉

6 - What lip oils did you try? How did you like them?

8 - It’s pretty magical right!?

9 - 🤣🤣🤣 … 🥹 (I’m laughing but also secretly hoping wrinkles are the new sexy)

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@JoSometimes  6) I bought the Clarins set of four mini lip oils that came out for Christmas. The colours in the tubes are peach, pink, red and deep red, but on my lips I don't really see any tint, which is fine. And they smell delicious - not quite sure what the scent is, but it always makes me think of strawberry-rhubarb pie. 😁 I really like them - they're not sticky at all.

😎 Definitely magical! And exactly what I need to lure me back into wearing mascara again. No smudging, and very easy to remove, as well. No panda eyes this morning!

9) Yes, having wrinkles be the new sexy would be awesome! But failing that, I'm less worried about trends, and thinking more about how to look my best. Trends be darned. 🤣

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

1) Your favorite purchase of the year- why?I would have to say my favourite purchase of the year is my red light mask.  The brand is Kandyway.  I wear it every night for ten minutes and it has really been helping with skin firmness.  Plus it seems to help me sleep.

2) A purchase you regret- why? I usually don’t hold onto regret when I buy something that doesn’t work out but I can’t even think of a bad purchase I’ve made at this time.  I would call this a good thing.  Being more discerning of my purchases may be a factor but I may be back later with something.

3) Most expensive purchase- was it worth the money? Maybe the red light mask?  It was around $550.  I would say it’s worth it just for how it induces sleep but it really has been firming my skin in a way topical skincare alone wasn’t achieving.

4) Most hyped product you bought- was it worth it?  The Patrick Ta Holiday palette.  It was absolutely worth it.  I wish the super intense glitter wasn’t just an overlay but at the same time appreciate that I got to be hyper glittery over the holidays and it naturally toned itself down for continuous wear.

5) Did you spend less, the same, or more than other years? Oh ha, if I don’t look and just guess I did is it lying?  I think I spent less?  Or I bought less but at higher price points.  I don’t want to know but I would assume I was better behaved;)

6) Rediscovered loves or underrated/underhyped makeup discoveries- guerlain meteorites (magic balls), becca highlighters, flowfushi mascaras

7) A product you missed out on, or haven't bought yet, but really want- oh gosh it’s never ending isn’t it? I really wanted the valentines Tom Ford blush.  I did snag the eye palette so my soul is at peace.

8 ) Did your makeup routine change in any way?- I did fewer sheet masks.  Really we moved and they were packed away for so long I fell out of the habit.  I’m remedying the situation.

9) What makeup trend do you think will be big next year? Browns and paler nude lips but not concealer pale  , more satin matte skin (glowy has been around for so long a change is due), cleanly brushed  untrimmed brows softly filled in,  tight lined eyeliner with little to no wing

10) What was your favorite body product or fragrance? Oh that’s a tough one.  I’ve been mixing ole Henriksen body oil into random body lotions so that’s a current staple.  Sol de Janeiro had my heart this year.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@heartsmyface Awe yes Becca highlighters and the magic balls!

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

Please tell me more about the red light mask @heartsmyface because I've been eyeing some red light items (the solawand in particular) but im way too lazy for that so mask seems more reasonable.. do you see fading of WRINKLES? Not that I'm saying you have them since I'm not even sure if you have any 😂 do you sleep with it on?!?!

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@heartsmyface I've never tried red light therapy but it sounds so interesting. I've been getting tons of ads for it lately. Glad it's helping you sleep while keeping you looking young 😉

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

Thanks for the tag @JoSometimes hehehehe

1) Your favorite purchase of the year- why?  Freck Beauty Freck The Original Freckle Freck XL  Ive ALWAYS love freckles, beauty marks, and even sun spots! I honestly thought these made your beauty unique and imperfectly perfect. NOW I CAN PRETEND I HAVE FRECKLES. I can't live without this anymore. I feel naked without it.

2) A purchase you regret- why? HM. this one is a little tough because I usually return things I don't like... I would have to say caliray Come Hell or High Water Volumizing & Lengthening Tubing Mascara 0.37 oz / 11 mL  because I loved it at first and I still use it but I just found my true love Tower 28 Beauty MakeWaves Lengthening + Volumizing Mascara Jet  and its hard to love caliray again..

3) Most expensive purchase- was it worth the money? Dyson Special Edition Dyson Airwrap™ Multi-Styler Complete Long Gift Set in Ultra Blue/Blush (I bought the other color edition) for my mom. It was worth it because she's literally been texting me every week since Christmas how much she loves it.

4) Most hyped product you bought- was it worth it? another hard one.. I actually don't have any social media so idk what's hyped... 😂

5) Did you spend less, the same, or more than other years? MORE. SMH BIC. I bought more things I didn't even know I needed!

6) Rediscovered loves or underrated/underhyped makeup discoveries Honestly, I've been reaching for my MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation so much on my lazy days and I ALWAYS get compliments on my skin when I wear this. Idk what they have in there but it looks so good. Everytime.

7) A product you missed out on, or haven't bought yet, but really want  SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO 8 Piece Brush Set  I'm really sad I missed out.....

8 ) Did your makeup routine change in any way? yes. I've been rocking natural looks for the past couple years since COVID but I'm now going from natural to minimal..... I spend a lot more money on skincare vs makeup!

9) What makeup trend do you think will be big next year? HMMMMMM 🤔 I'm kinda hoping the dark makeup looks come back but maybe it won't be a trend.. just a hope 😂

10) What was your favorite body product or fragrance?  Moroccanoil Night Body Serum 3.4 oz/ 100 mL  I didn't know body serum was a thing.. pretty much a life changer 😂

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@jaaayp Awe 😭#3 is so sweet

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

It's quite cute @Samtian my mom is in her 50s and she JUST started getting into foundation and doing her hair (she says she needs to now) and she's like "have you heard of this NEW technology by dyson?"

Me: .....new....? 🤔

But ya. She loves it. She says it brings life into her dead hair 😂

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@jaaayp sorry you missed out on the Sephora brush set. They do some every year so definitely keep an eye out, it's bound to come back in a different iteration. BIC is so dangerous when it comes to adding stuff  to my cart, I feel you on that one!

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@makeitup305 I'm counting on it!!! Hopefully they restock in April when that 20% off comes in handy 😂

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@jaaayp You’re welcome! That’s what friendsies are for! 😉

No.1 - I need to check that out in the summer time! Your freckles always looks so adorable!

No.2 - It’s hard to change once you find your OTL! The T28 mascara is part of Sephora Favorites Lunar New Year Makeup Superstars this year and I low-key want to get it even though I don’t need it…

No.3 - So glad you’re both enjoying the Dyson! Their stuff is so pricey but worth it! I thought my wife was crazy for buying the hair dryer years ago when it first came out because it’s so spendy but it’s held up all these years and works so well! (We even bought one of their heater/fan combos and a humidifier… 💸)

No.4 - No social media!? You are amazing! Don’t ever cave. You don’t need it.

No.9 - Dark makeup looks? Have you done dark makeup looks in the past? 🤔

No.10 - Please tell me more about this body serum and why I need to buy it… 😂

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

The lunar set is not available in the US @JoSometimes 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠 or is it already sold out?!?! Yes.. I used to wear dark makeup.. I feel like I look older when I wear it (I mean the purpose of why I used to wear it was to look older but... no longer need to 😂). The body serum is pretty amazing! It makes my skin so soft but it can also be that I don't moisturize.. like ever so them Serum be working double time 😂 daw, we frensies 🥰 thanks again, frensieee ❤️❤️❤️
