Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@WinglessOne  I really hope the over plucked eyebrows don’t come back!  I still can’t believe how much time and pain went into maintaining them. And I still have a spot that refuses to grow back😂

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@faeriegirl I think you’ll be right about the trends for this year. Fashion is cyclical. For some of us oldies, the 90’s feels like yesterday!

I need to check out that SF lip balm! There’s a lot of hype around it.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@faeriegirl tatcha is a favorite brand of mine

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

This is a super fun thread @makeitup305 😀 Thank you for the tag.  I love reading everyone's answers to your questions!

1) Your favorite purchase of the year- why?

This is incredibly hard. But the one I'll put at the top, I recommend to so many people I meet, 😜 are the lip stains by Fenty. These last, don't dry out my lips and are so beautifully pigmented. I love them. 💖

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Poutsicle Hydrating Lip Stain Zesty Bestie

2) A purchase you regret- why?

I had a few misses, the Smooth line from Living Proof is a purchase that comes to mind. That line was a total miss for me. No results that I could see and just menh all over.

3) Most expensive purchase- was it worth the money?

I think my most costly splurge was T3 SinglePass Wave Professional Tapered Ceramic Styling Wand *even thou I got it on sale* It was a big purchase and cost me quite a bit. But I love using it and getting some life and curls into my sooo straight hair. It has the fine hair temperature setting I was looking for and I feel good about it. 😉 I feel it was worth it.

4) Most hyped product you bought- was it worth it?

This is probably Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette Jellyfish or Danessa Myricks Beauty Lightwork V: I Am Palette For Eyes And Face. I have *zero* regrets 🤩 I love using these and the quality is super!

5) Did you spend less, the same, or more than other years?

Close to the same 😉

6) Rediscovered loves or underrated/underhyped makeup discoveries

Clionadh for sure as a under hyped make up discovery. 🦋

7) A product you missed out on, or haven't bought yet, but really want

I wish I could have gotten my hands on NATASHA DENONA I Need a Nude Eyeshadow Palette but it wasn't sold in Canada. 💔

8 ) Did your makeup routine change in any way?

Yes! It's always evolving and changing thanks to help and inspiration from all of you BIC beauties.

9) What makeup trend do you think will be big next year?

I do not have a crystal ball🔮 and I don't know. I'd love to see looks from 60's 70's be re-vamped and come out with modern twists.

10) What was your favorite body product or fragrance?

This has been a yummy year of fragrances but number one is KAYALI YUM PISTACHIO GELATO | 33 Eau De Parfum Intense 🍀

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CynthieLu I love so many of your hits this year! The Kayali perfume is a hit and Hourglass never disappoints. I didn't pick up their palette this years since I have a couple of the ones from previous years so I need to bring them back out. I haven't tried the Fenty but K-beauty lip stains take over my lippie drawer. It's most of what I wore during the second half of the year. I'm so bummed that you and so many others can't get your hands on ND as easily anymore. Does Beautylish charge duties to Canada? That's the only retailer that I've seen ship it for a decent price.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

Stains are so fab right? What K-Beauty ones are you using?? @makeitup305 I'm all ears for new fun liipies 😍

Duties hummmm, I believe Beautylish charges ( if a company doesn't add it on we have to pay our selves to get our package.)

What stopped me so far from ordering the palette from ND ( other than expensive duties and shipping) was a disclaimer I read saying if it shipped to Canada they took no responsibility for possible damages. It's a risk I haven't been able to take yet. I was like Eeeep!

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CynthieLu that sucks. I hope they find another retailer in Canada. If you ever do order from ND, they usually package their palettes pretty well.

I've bought most of the neutral shades from Rom&nd and a few Peripera. I like them because they have glossy or shiny finish that leaves a light stain in natural and neutral shades. Since I usually go overboard on shadows, I've been going for a more "natural" lip. However,  they do have quite vibrant shades in their range as well. I like that they aren't drying.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

I appreciate the feedback on how ND ships thier palettes, that takes a bit of the fears away. 😉 Where do you order your K-Beauty stains? It's it from thier direct sites? I'm all curious now. 😉 @makeitup305

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CynthieLu  The funny thing about Clionadh is how hyped the brand actually is among indie fans (including folks who straddle indie and mainstream cosmetics). I don’t follow any beauty influencers so I don’t know how often (if at all) they mention Clionadh. But I do know the brand’s very popular, or at least well known, among non-influencers (you know, us normal everyday makeup users. 😄 ) who’ve dipped even a tiny bit into the indie realm. So it’s always strange to me that Clionadh’s fame has yet to break through to the strictly mainstream beauty crowd. Of any indie eyeshadow brand, I expect Clionadh to be the one that does that successfully, based on how beloved the brand already is by so many people. I hear far less chatter about other small indies (even Terra Moons or Oden’s Eye) by comparison. Not that those other brands aren’t also loved, of course, but many people have made Clionadh their gold standard for duo/multichrome shadows.

Sorry you missed out on I Need A Nude. I wish it was available at another retailer in Canada, so you wouldn’t have to pay duties to get it direct from ND or other sellers.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@WinglessOne I agree. I think among non-mainstream, Clionadh is probably the most known. It's the probably the first that I really heard being talked about. I like their shadows and the quality is top notch but I might like Terra Moons just a bit better. Their shades feel a little less delicate and my rough self appreciates that.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CynthieLu No. 1, that Fenty lip stain… I feel like I’m missing something special there. Same with No. 4 and that HG Jellyfish palette.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

I want to try the stains you've been getting @JoSometimes 🤩 but they have yet to cross my path.

Hourglass palettes really get me. They feel amazing to hold in your hand. The designs are artistic and there look/feel of thier setting powders, highlighters, blushes, bronzers etc.. are very nice. They give a really lovely glowing from within look to my skin. They really impressed me.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CynthieLu Hourglass palettes are a true delight to use. If you find one that suits your skin tone, it's the perfect product for everyday.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

They are and yes totally. @makeitup305 I love using mine and how each part of Jellyfish just works beautifully together. 😍

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CynthieLu I love that fragrance when i tried it.  I have too many fragrance samples to justify buying it,  I am working down my samples so I can buy what I really love.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

I hear you. That sounds wise @CorgiMommy  I want to whittle down my fragrance collection to make room for new loves. But I'm so happy with this one. 💚 I love smelling like a dessert. 😉

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

Love this tread idea, thanks for the tag @danielledanielle

1) Your favorite purchase of the year- why?  Surprise, surprise PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette .  I love that it is highly pigmented and versatile.  You can get a day or night look from this one palette.

2) A purchase you regret- why?

Kopari Lychee Clean Vitamin C Foam Cleanser, I just didn't like the foam formula.  You needed to use too much in my opinion.

3) Most expensive purchase- was it worth the money?

PATRICK TA Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette  but I did buy it during the fall sale.

4) Most hyped product you bought- was it worth it?

LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask – Intense Hydration Lip Treatment with Vitamin C   I purchased the  pink lemonade swirl.  I love how this hydrates my lips and has a cool lemonade scent.

5) Did you spend less, the same, or more than other years?   About the same but I don't keep track (I would be too embarrassed to see what I actually spend)

6) Rediscovered loves or underrated/underhyped makeup discoveries

Not a makeup discovery but I did rediscover Soap & Glory foot cream.  I forgot how much it makes my feet soft.

7) A product you missed out on, or haven't bought yet, but really want

I can't think of anything but if I do I will update my post.

8 ) Did your makeup routine change in any way?  Not really I have always gone for a natural look.

9) What makeup trend do you think will be big next year?  I would love to see colored mascara come back.  I use to use blue mascara.

10) What was your favorite body product or fragrance?  New discovery for me and I love it, Biossance Caffeine Toning Body Cream + Squalane 6 oz / 200 mL .  I  love that it is unscented and not greasy.  But more important it tones my skin and leaves it smooth and moisturized.

Re: Best, Most, and Worst [2023 Edition]

@CorgiMommy I think you have a gift for seeing into the future. I saw this on social media and had to come back to your post!
