Beauty Blender, Eco Tools, Real Techniques, which one is your fav and why?

I'm a bit hesitant to buy the Beauty Blender for that price tag and was wondering how long everyone find this lasts? I usually clean my "beauty blender" sponge from Winners after each use with regular ol' hand soap and I've had it for just over a year before noticing some tiny tears. I find the sponge could be bouncier though...

I've read online that Real Techniques changed their sponge formulation/material and it doesn't hold up as well anymore. Thoughts?

What about Eco Tools? I haven't seen it anywhere yet (in Canada), even at places that sells Eco Tools.

Love my Beauty Blender Pro (black)  I have had the original pink one and bought the spring fling brightly colored ones as well but haven't opened them up yet.  I find the black one to hold up longer.  I've also used the Real Technique sponge and it's not bad.  If you're debating about using a sponge vs a brush, try the Real Technique one and see if you like it.  If you do you can always upgrade to the Beauty Blender during the fall sale.

Have you tried out the L'Oreal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Makeup Blender? I really like that one and I prefer it to the real techniques one because it is a little softer and bouncier although I really like the real techniques shape. I think the beauty blender will always be slightly better than other sponges but not enough to justify the price difference. It would be different if it were a brush that you might have for years but for something I basically have to replace every few months ( even if my sponge looks to be in good shape just for sanitary reasons I don't really keep them more than 4-5 months) I would rather spend my money on high quality makeup than on an expensive sponge.

Re: Beauty Blender, Eco Tools, Real Techniques, which one is your fav and why?

I was using the Beauty Blender for years, years ago. I absolutely loved those sponges and couldn't live without them. They gave me the best finish ever. But, the quality went noticeably down couple of years or so ago, while the price stayed the same. They've become kind of rougher, and started to fall apart real fast.  No sense in overpaying for something that suddenly turned so crappy. So I switched to Real Techniques sponges. And, I really liked them. I've been using them for the last few years. But, alas, the quality of those changed for the worse, too. They used to last me a few months, with every day use and wash. Maybe they'd last even longer (  I am sure they would ), but I liked to change them every few months ( germ freak here! 😛 ). For a while now, they start to fall apart on me after first couple of uses! They definitely don't hold up as good anymore. Such a shame. They used to be really nice and durable sponges. I still use them, though, as the price tag is quite reasonable even with the need of changing them so often now. And, the sponge itself doesn't feel worse in texture/feel/performance ( like it was and is the case with the BB ). I usually stock up during sales, bogo's, this and that... There's usually always something going on. So, I stick with them. Until I find something better.

I've never tried the Eco Tools one. I am on the search for the next best thing myself. Sorry I am not of much help here. Just wanted to let you know about my personal experience with the BB and the RT.

I haven't tried real techniques or eco tools, as I person...

I haven't tried real techniques or eco tools, as I personally don't care for their shapes. I have tried other knock offs and hated them. Majority of my beauty blenders have last me 1-1.5 years. I will note, I always clean mine at least by the end of the day after using it. I've never let product sit in it for a full 24hrs. I will also say, all of my pink ones for some reason have the shortest life span for me. Almost all of my pink one's tips have popped/ripped off. I'm very gentle, so I don't understand. I haven't had this issue with other colors. I clean mine with dawn dish soap, unless I'm using my long wear makeup, then I use baby oil, and dish soap. Never had a problem getting them clean. I don't know what it is, but I just love the firm/softness and bounce it has. The shape really works for me as well. It took me along time to cave and buy a BB, but I've been using them for years now.

Hey candyrivera,

Which colour BB are you currently using now?
