classic red lip

Hey ladies!! National lipstick day is coming up and I was wondering what's a classic red lippie? All my red lipsticks are too dark and vampy HAHA. I need a classic red that doesn't make me look like a clown. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I personally think the SEPHORA COLLECTION Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in 01 Always Red is a classic red. I also love the formula. It's not drying and feels comfortable on the lips. 🙂

I find red lipsticks to be a little intimidating, but I really love Urban Decay 714 and Smashbox metallic liquid lipstick in Maneater.

Also, what skin tone do you have? It might change how it looks on you, but these aren't dark reds.

@Buootiful thanks! i think im a fair to medium... i use nars macadamia nut concealer if that helps on knowing my skin tone. i just have big lips.

@louwesah  I have big lips too and really like Smashbox Crimson Chrome (this one is metallic red), Lancôme 170N, Stila Beso. 

Also, a good trick to lighten the colour would be to dab some concealer onto your lips before applying liquid lipstick. I usually do that with colours that are pinkish red to bring out the lighter pink colour, which without concealer would look more like a red on me.

NARS Jungle Red, Bite Gazpacho (more blue based), Nudestix Stiletto, and Clinique Mightiest Maraschino are my favorite reds.
