I have really dry lips because of Saskatoon’s dry air. What would you recommend for my lip care routine? Which products are your favourite? Please share with me 🥰
@selinseng My lips have been drier this year, so I really have to keep up with them. In the morning before work it's LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick while at work. Then when I get home it's more Laneige, and Aquaphor applied periodically while I sit on my butt watching TV. Then more Laneige layered with Aquaphor before bed.
Thank you for sharing. I’ll buy it 🥰
I have been using this combo fresh Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator and fresh Sugar Recovery Lip Mask Advanced Therapy 0.35 oz/ 10 g for a couple weeks now and have been loving it but I've heard SO MUCH about the Laneige lip mask.
Can anyone tell me what makes it different/special?
I agree that the Laniege lip mask is incredible. I also really like their newer lip balm for during the day…I’m struggling to recall the name but it’s pearlescent and comes in an adorable pot. I got crazy dry lips while camping last year…the worst I’ve ever had…and these two products got me back to normal within 1-2 days. If I’m going to be in the sun, I like to wear one of the Fresh lip balms with SPF, either alone (tinted) or with a lip color. They feel really good on and don’t have a weird taste like some SPF lip balms.
@canderan You are talking about LANEIGE Lip Treatment Balm 0.35 oz/ 10g I love it too.
Scrub your lips in the AM with Fresh Lip Polish Exfoliator. Follow that up with a lip balm, such as Sephora collection lip balm and scrub in Coconut.
In the PM apply LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask before bed and you won't wake up with dry lips.
fresh Sugar Lip Polish Exfoliator LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C SEPHORA COLLECTION Clean Lip Balm & Scrub
Thanks 🥰
@selinseng I live in Chicago so I'm not in a dry climate. But my lips are naturally dry year round, and frigid winter weather makes that worse. Here's the routine that keeps my dry lips healthy and moisturized:
Exfoliate, 1-2 times a month: I use either a wet terrycloth cloth (in my case, a reusable bamboo round) or a sugar scrub (usually a jar of ColourPop Lippie Scrub). I don't do this often because lips have the thinnest skin on the face. It's easy to damage that skin by over-exfoliating. Not saying you can't use a lip scrub once a week if you want; just don't overdo it.
Lip serum, AM & PM: gives my lips a boost of antioxidants and hydrating ingredients. I use Glossier Bubblewrap for this, but I just learned it was discontinued. Sigh... Bubblewrap was marketed as an eye & lip moisturizer but, for me, it's not nearly moisturizing enough on its own. But it's great as a lip serum when applied to damp lips. (I never use it anywhere on my face except my lips.) Now I have to find a replacement product. Might be a good time to try #Paula's Choice Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Lip Treatment Booster 0.33 oz/ 10 mL, or see if any facial serums in my routine can safely work as a lip serum.
Lip balm, AM & PM: a petrolatum-based balm is the most occlusive moisturizer available, so that's what I use. My balm of choice is Aquaphor Ointment (not the one marketed as a lip balm, just the plain ol' ointment). It contains lanolin; if you're sensitive to that ingredient, you'll want to try something else like CeraVe Healing Ointment, Vaseline, or any brand of petroleum jelly. Whatever you choose, make sure your lips are damp with water (not saliva) before applying lip balm. This ensures you'll seal in hydration instead of dryness. If my lips have fully dried down by the time I reach this step, I just tap a little water on them to dampen them and then immediately apply Aquaphor. The only time I have to reapply Aquaphor throughout the day is after eating. It keeps my lips moisturized for hours.
SPF balm, AM: I'm diligent about sunscreen on all exposed skin except my lips. For some reason, I tend to forget my lips. The only SPF balm I like is Vanicream Lip Protectant Sunscreen SPF 30. It doesn't smell or taste like sunscreen. Since it uses zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as UV blockers, it sometimes leaves a bit of white cast on my lips. I usually wear lipstick over it, so that doesn't bug me much. It's not moisturizing enough on its own for me (contains no petrolatum), so I apply it over Aquaphor.
Also, resist the urge to lick your lips throughout the day. It feels like you're rehydrating them, but you're really coating them with enzymes that break down your lip skin over time. Plus, the saliva will quickly evaporate and leave your skin feeling drier. This is one of the reasons I don't like to wear flavored lip balms: too much temptation to lick them. 😄 Anyway, if your lips start to feel dry, you're much better off tapping a little water on them (if you've got some available; I've dabbed a little cooled-down coffee on my lips while out and about) and reapplying lip balm while they're damp.
I don’t exfoliate often but I’ll buy the products and use them for my lip care routine. Thanks 🥰
@WinglessOne I'm curious about the #Paula's Choice Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Lip Treatment Booster 0.33 oz/ 10 mL . The price seems a little high, though.
@greeneyedgirl107 Yeah, it's something I'd buy during one of PC's many sales. Too bad Nordstrom doesn't carry it, otherwise I'd use Notes to get it. I also need to look closer at the ingredients to see what benefits I'd potentially get from it, compared to Bubblewrap.
@WinglessOne Here's hoping you like the PC, b/c that sucks that Glossier discontinued a fave of yours. 🙂
@selinseng Hi, you can start by removing the dead skin from your lips using a scrub. You can do one at home on your own: mix sugar with honey (or jojoba oil if you are vegan) and then rub the mixture around your lips. I sometimes use a warm, damp soft cloth and lightly rub that onto my lips. Then, you have a plethora of choices for lip balms. I personally love the brand fresh and sol de janeiro as a stick type of lip balm. You can take them with you on the go and reapply them when needed. The sol de janeiro one smells like vanilla and is very nourishing. The fresh sugar one in mint rush, is very nice under a face mask. As for night time, I love the laneige lip sleeping mask in vanilla 🤩💄 If you want a vegan brand, google "benecos".

Thank you 🥰
@selinseng you can try Aquaphor, Vaseline, LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask Intense Hydration with Vitamin C Tatcha The Kissu Lip Mask
@SportyGirly125 is it normal that the aquaphor one (the all in one ointment) is sooo thick, you have to really squeeze the tube to get it out? thanks
@Skunk12puzzola the ones I use on my son and daughter are not that hard to get out. But yes the product is thick.
Thank you. I’ll try them 🥰
