Anyone have a good lip combo for black people?

I have two-toned lips, so it's SOOO hard finding good lip combos. I have seen many people on TikTok with beautiful lip combos, but whenever I try them, they look horrible. @YourGirlJas  My top lip is darker than my bottom lip, so I have far more opaque lipsticks/glosses in my hoard than sheer glosses. But sometimes, if I really wanna use a sheer gloss but also want both lips to match, I’ll start by covering one lip with a full base of lip liner that’s the same shade as my other lip. That’s just to make both lips the same color. Then I’ll proceed with whatever full mouth look I have in mind. 

Some people conceal their lips with foundation before applying any lipstick. You could also try that. 

Now I’m curious: what look(s) are you going for? Can you show an example or two?

Hey @YourGirlJas , two toned lips are more common than you think.  I have them, too. Mine are brown pink, so I tend to prefer matte lipstick when I want everything to be in sync.  @WinglessOne did suggest using lip liner, which may be the best thing to do since that's a favorite thing of yours.

If anything, two toned lips are on trend via cherry cola lips and 90s dark lip liner.

Another thing you can do is another trend, blotted matte lips/soft matte lips, where you apply an extra coat of the color on the darker areas and then blot accordingly.  I like a lipstick with a mousse consistency.

You can also layer your lipsticks and use a lip brush to help.  I would suggest applying the darker shade first, all over and then the second color, apply with a pencil.  You can also get the ombre effect this way.  And, as the color fades, you can always add a gloss, or choose the gloss as your second color instead of a lipstick.
