What has been the worst and most expensive makeup or skin care product you have ever bought?

What has been the worst investment you have made?

RE: What has been the worst and most expensive makeup or skin care product you have ever bought?

THE GOOD: (1.) TNS Essential Serum -- magic for my middle aging face (2.) Oribe imperial styling cream (3.) Kerastase Femme Fatale gel (4.) Philip Kingsleyshampoos (5.) Perricone Cold Plasma -- smells like dead fish but so effective I don't care ______________________________________________________________ THE BAD: SKII was too expensive and easily duped (MISSHA high intensity essence) La Mer: in my early days of skincare shopping and internet discussion (alt.fashion newsgroup), I fell prey to La Mer cream, makeup, etc.______________________________________________________________ THE UGLY: As an early adopter, I have blown more $$ trying out new technology andmiracle products than I will ever really admit to myself. This includes: Copper skincare (late nineties), light therapy machines (the oughts), Lipsense before it was Lipsense (back in the 1990s), early BB creams that made me look like I was wearing chalky peach-colored paste, and various early trends: Remede marble powder, Bliss when it was owned by Miss Kilgore, Leaf and Rush before Rush had his own E! show,

the tarte clay stick foundation. Im going to give it another try now that the weather is cooling down but i found it to be kinda cakey .

Probably proactiv. It made my skin even worse. From Sephora, nothing really. The only product that I absolutely would not buy is the fresh nectar face cream. I got a mini as a promo so I didn't necessarily pay for it, but it broke me out so bad. I loved the smell but it just broke me out 😞

Laneige's downside is the strong fragrance however the effects of using the Sleeping Mask is amazing.

Lots of people love Laneige but I honestly can't stand the smell. No matter how good it's supposed to be, I can't handle it. : (

Creme de la Mer. People scream praises about it, but after splurging part of a bonus on it, all I got for my money was a mediocre, heavy cream. My face hated it, so I had to use it up on my hands. A pricey lesson about lemming buys.

Tatcha Essence. Meh. Felt and saw nothing. Saw better results from the CosRX Snail essence. And a fraction of the price

Re: RE: What has been the worst and most expensive makeup or skin care product you have ever bought?

@bettyrose I wanted to try Tacha Essence but the price too high. The CosRX sounds interesting. How is the consistency? Have you ever tried the MayCoop? Is it like that or heavier?

RE: Re: RE: What has been the worst and most expensive makeup or skin care product you have ever bought?

I haven't tried May Coop. The Cosrx is pretty thick but i feel like my skin absorbs it better

Proactive was not kind to my now 16 year old son. But what does not work for some works for others. In high school, my mother tried to tell me that a bar of soap would work - Soooo wrong! I struggled after having my two sons and spent a tiny fortune on celebrity dermatologist brands that just did not hit the mark fully for me. It was not until I switched to the K Brands and Japanese (belif, Caolion, Bosco's, tatcha, erborian) that take a long game approach that I found a balance. I mask three+ times a week and do everything to remain ultra hydrated. My skin is glowing now!

ha...well it isnt a sephora item, but ProActiv KILLED my face. it didnt really clear anything up, but basically chemically stripped my face and left it raw and really sensitive.

i love k-beauty steps because it focuses on very soft and gentle items.

sadly the farmacy skin savior kit! irritated my skin and made my pores look even bigger .. i really wanted to like it since the products were natural and had cute packaging too .. ☹️

@Neeliay Bobbi Brown Eye Palettes - I don't remember the name but it was super pretty, swatched nicely but the pigment somehow wouldn't transfer on my eyes. I tried to packed the shadow, used primer - nothing helped. I actually bought another palette from BB but it was same story - won't buy any powder eyeshadows from her again😡

That's good to know! I got a BB mascara and can say that it was not the best mascara I've ever had. I had been wondering about the palette though. Good to know it wouldn't be a good investment!

Re: That's good to know! I got a BB mascara and can say that...

BB was high quality at one point, but Estée Lauder bought it and then the pigment went down the drain, the same thing thing happened when they bought Stila. That's usually the story when indie brands are acquired by mega corporations.

Re: What has been the worst and most expensive makeup or skin care product you have ever bought?

For me, it was the Double Wear foundation from EL. I was so excited for the foundation, but once I bought it, the shade turned out to be too dark for me... and it was the lightest shade.

Re: What has been the worst and most expensive makeup or skin care product you have ever bought?

@Neeliay There was some sort of oxygenizing mask or cleanser I bought that was $$ and did nothing...PTR maybe.  Philosophy Peel Pads.  Both of those went back.  For some reason I kept a $22 Murad toner that had like 3 ounces and did nothing.
