Should I??

Should I try the worst rated products?? and give a HONEST rating?? if so give me some ideas and stuff that didn't work for you!!

Re: Should I??

@BerrySugar I think I'd rather see someone give honest reviews on the highest rated products that are full of the influencer reviews.

Re: Should I??

ok that's what I am currently doing ๐Ÿค—

Re: Should I??

Re: Should I??

@BerrySugar  Is there any particular category of "worst" beauty products you're looking to try? Makeup? If so, what kinds of makeup: eyeshadow, mascara, lipsticks, blush, etc.? Haircare? Fragrances? Skincare? Note that trying the worst-rated skincare can be especially risky, depending on your particular skin type/behavior and sensitivities. For that matter, so can the worst-rated haircare, particularly products that touch your scalp. (Your scalp is skin, so it's possible to have bad reactions and/or micro-tears on your scalp similar to those that can happen on your face.)

Once you narrow down the field, you can find Sephora's lowest rated products by picking a brand, filtering the brand's product landing page to whatever beauty category you're interested in, and then sorting those results by "Top Rated." Then scroll to the bottom of that page to see the lowest rated products. Example:

Spoiler
On Sephora's Brands page, I randomly picked Charlotte Tilbury. On the CT landing page, I filtered the product list down to Makeup > Face Makeup. Then I sorted the resulting list by "Top Rated" to get this: https://www.sephora.com/brand/charlotte-tilbury/face-makeup?sortBy=TOP_RATED . That's how I know the worst-rated product (by Sephora customers) in that category is the Magic Away Concealer.

EDIT: Or, in Sephora's top nav bar, you can go to Makeup > [pick a category you're interested in], then sort the resulting landing page by "Top Rated" and scroll/"show more results" til you reach the end of the product list. Using concealers as my makeup category, I now know CT Magic Away Concealer is among Sephora's worst rated concealers of all brands' products, along with La Mer The Concealer and Natasha Denona Transfix Matte Concealer.

You can probably do something similar at other retailers' sites. You can definitely do it at Ulta, for instance.

And you know, I kinda understand wanting to try low rated products to see if they're really as bad as folks say. I once bought the ABH Subculture palette at TJ Maxx to see if it's really so terrible. I'm not a fan of ABH shadows in general, but the palette was marked waaay down and curiosity got the better of me. And yeah, that's a purchase I wish I hadn't made. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Didn't take me long to declutter the palette.

Eh, just be prepared to waste some money during your journey.

Re: Should I??

@WinglessOne You are so helpful!

Re: Should I??

Aw, thank you @Mellmars1185 !

Re: Should I??

@WinglessOne Isn't it funny how sometimes we want to try the lousy things - just to see for ourselves?  I remember seeing a joke along similar lines from "My Two Dads" when I was a kid, and thinking how spot-on that observation was.

Re: Should I??

@greeneyedgirl107 ๐Ÿคฃ Now there's a TV show I haven't thought of in ages! I was in high school when that show was on-air... dang I'm gettin' old.

But yeah, sometimes when everyone around us hates a product, we can't help but wonder "okay but, how bad is it REALLY?" Back in The Before Times, I could visit a store and play with testers to find out how a widely hated product really performed. I'm not so keen on doing that nowadays. Wish I'd played with a Subculture tester when it was available, before it landed on TJ Maxx/Marshalls shelves. Then I'd have known half the palette would hurt my feelings, and I'd never have bought it.

@BerrySugar, there's something else you can do: play with testers (if you can do that safely in these cootie-laden times) of worst-rated products, or ask for free samples of them if you're at a store that offers them. I don't remember if Sephora stores are doing store-made samples again (pretty sure they stopped for a long while, as a pandemic precaution), but my local Nordstrom is.

Re: Should I??

@WinglessOne I agree with your sentiments. That being said the poster seems to really want recommendations (sounds weird using it in this context) for the worst products, so I'll oblige @BerrySugar here's what I think you should try off the top of my head.

Worst skin care product for me (risky as previously stated): Herbivore Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum 1.0 oz/ 30 mL

Worst Mascara (in my opibion): Too Faced Damn Girl! 24-Hour Mascara 0.43 oz/ 12.7 mL

Worst Concealer (people love this, I hate it. It has good reviews, but just my recommendation because it is Crease city.): NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer with Hydrating Medium Coverage Amande

Re: Should I??

@QueenMarceline I second the Too Faced Damn Girl mascara ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Re: Should I??

@Guessgal Lol! Literally the worst.

Re: Should I??

@QueenMarceline  Heh, I didn't want to list a bunch of my own worst products without knowing which type(s) of products were in bounds. My list would be quite long without some parameters. ๐Ÿ˜„ So I offered up a way to find Sephora's worst-rated products instead.

Oh, and I forgot to mention to @BerrySugar : check out @greeneyedgirl107's Monthly Misses threads to see some products that didn't work for BIC members. Here's the December 2021 thread: Monthly Misses: December 2021 . Might as well link Monthly Misses: November 2021 , Monthly Misses: October 2021 , Monthly Misses: September 2021 , and Monthly Misses: August 2021 while I'm at it. To find more of them, just search for "monthly misses" on the BIC Community landing page.

Re: Should I??

@WinglessOne A great idea and perfect thread recommendations. Those threads are full of great info and tons of misses that come up are seen over-and-over again.

Re: Should I??

Honestly, that sounds like a waste of money and product, @BerrySugar

Re: Should I??

Same thought here @quspork .  Why waste money on product that is likely to not work?

Re: Should I??

well like i said just mention bad products that didnt work for you... it might work for me and other people

Re: Should I??

@BerrySugar Hey girl... your coin to do with as you please, you're right, a lot of products that don't work for some, work for others.  Just a bit odd to seek out the low rated products I guess.  If you want to respond to someone and them to see the reply, you can tag them in your reply by using the @ sign and it should bring up a list of who you're replying to.

Re: Should I??

@BerrySugar , I'd say no. There have been several YouTubers who have done that, and they generally are in agreement with the low ratings.

Re: Should I??

well I would like to just try it because TONS of people give false ratings!! idk why!? just tell me about any bad products that you disliked because some might not work for you but for others
