A few catch up hauls, one dating back to July (eek!) that I'm just getting around to trying out, some more than others. Pleased with everything. Yay!

My first mented product was their coconut lip treatment. I've been eyeing 😉 their eyeshadow sticks and made a purchase late last month. These sticks are beautiful in color and application. They glide on easily, the pigmentation is wonderful and they stay put. The swatches below lean cooler and darker than they appear in real life.

I've had Cheekbone Beauty on my list of brands to try in what seems like forever. Finally picked up some products in late July but didn't get around to trying them. That was unfortunate for me because these beauties are lovely. If I'm remembering right, someone on BIC has picked up (and liked the liquid lipsticks from the line - I wanna say @Guessgal  (maybe?). That's next on my list from the brand.

Sunblock and fragrance have found their way into my cart with even more frequency than in years past; I'm a bit behind on posting hauls and comments (eek!) but here are a couple recent ones - Ellis Brooklyn VANILLA MILK Eau de Parfum Travel Spray .33 oz / 10 mL eau de parfum spray # sounded like a good one for the summer to fall transition and theSaint Jane Beauty Luxury Sun Ritual Pore Smoothing Face Sunscreen SPF 30 1.7 oz / 50 mL was one I've been wanting to try for some time and was reminded of it when @Samtian mentioned this one; I picked up a promo sample and that turned into a haul. 😁

The Cheekbone Nuna lip color looks like a great nude.

@erikarosenim, it's a beautiful nude lip color. Nude lip colors are not usually very forgiving on me and many often wash me out but that's not the case with Nuna.

@itsfi  oooo look at all the new finds. The eyeshadow sticks look beautiful!! Have you tested them out? What is the wear time like?? Cheekbone beauty has been on my radar also but I have not yet picked anything up!!! That sunscreen looks good! How does it compare to SF?

@ather, there are a lot of goodies out there! 😍 I do love coming across new beauties, be it a new product or a new brand.

The mented shadow sticks are good - easy to apply. They do set pretty quickly but there's time to blend if needed. With the rose  gold shade and the matte one, I needed to use my fingers to blend them out a little more; but with the other two, it was just a couple of passes with the pencil and that was it! They last too - I get about 8-10 hours of wear with them; a lot will depend on how often I rub my eyes - I know, I shouldn't be doing that; easier said than done. lol

Cheekbone:

Oh, definitely keep Cheekbone on your radar and if you can try a lipstick, I say do it. I thought I saw that some of their products are available on Sephora Canada, maybe it's just online?

lol. I also wondered about how Saint Jane would compare to the Summer Fridays SPF. Here's a swatch comparison: 

  

The Saint Jane is creamier than the Summer Fridays; it has more of a whipped consistency where the Summer Fridays is more liquid-y, and as a result, runny. In terms of how they wear, both are lightweight, apply easily and absorb quickly. I often use my SPF as a makeup primer and both have performed well enough in that regard - I haven't experienced any pilling with the different foundations I've paired with it (e.g., BB cream, tinted moisturizer, light and mediume coverage foundations, etc.). They both feel hydrating on my skin, though the edge goes to the Saint Jane in that regard. Do I need both? Probably not. Will I continue to keep both? Yes, I can see myself keeping both as part of my rotation of sunblock. 😆

@CookieGirl1 @ChristalM @Sunnysmom, I have mixed feelings on EB Vanilla Milk; I like the scent more after the initial few spritzes. Based on my experience, it's a fragrance you have to push through past three or four uses before it shows its promise. Let me explain -

• The first two times I used the perfume, I was greeted with what made me think burnt plastic. Blech. Not good, and not something I want to walk around smelling like. 😆 I almost wrote it off at that point but remembered that with the last few fragrances from Ellis Brooklyn, the scent I picked up from the first few uses were different that what I would come to smell with each of those scents, so I decided to keep up with it a little longer.

• The third and fourth uses were better than the first two in that the plastic and burning smells were much less prominent and I was starting to pick up, very quickly after spritzing, some smokey (in a pleasant way) notes and some subtle vanilla. 

• By the fifth time I pulled out this travel spray, I was no longer smelling plastic, let along burning or burnt plastic. I've worn it a total of 8 times maybe and with uses 5, 6, 7, and 8, it's been a good - the scent I pick up now I would describe as a non-cloying, sweet-but-not-too sweet, creamy, soft vanilla with a hint of smokiness that comes through from time to time during the 7-8 hours of wear I can get from it.  

On the one hand, I hope that it's just me that's been picking up that burning plastic scent because it is not attractive. Ick. On the other hand, if it is something you smell, I would try to keep with it for a few more uses as it does get better. Much better.

What a beautiful batch of goodies @itsfi and love the pics! Thank you for the lip swatches, I’ve wondered about Cheekbone so it’s great to see them. Do they have decent lasting power? I want to sniff the Ellis! Do you love it?! 💞

@Sunnysmom, thank you. 😀 The Cheekbone Beauty lipsticks have excellent pigmentation and the longevity is good - in line with traditional lipsticks, maybe a smidge longer. I can get a 3-4 hours if I'm not eating or drinking anything; that's rare since I'm usually sipping on water and coffee before and after lunch. They do transfer (which I expected as it doesn't claim to be transfer proof), but it wears off fairly evenly and does not dry out my lips, always a plus. The colors are vivid - I didn't think Ashikh would be so vibrant, or red, but it is a pretty color - something I think you'd enjoy - I liked to layer it with Nuna.

I've noticed with the last few Ellis Brooklyn fragrances I've picked up that I really need to judge them after the third or fourth wear. Odd, I know. The first two spritzes of the fragrance didn't go over very well, but after that, it's been something I've been enoying more. What's your preference when it comes to vanilla scents? Do you prefer ones that are very sweet? Or ones where the vanilla is bold and pronounced? Or more soft?

Oh great thanks I think @itsfi ! 😫😂 of course that’s the shade I was interested in! Ha It’s on the never ending list! I think I’m in the mild soft camp for vanilla. Not too sweet for sure. Where you think this falls? I get that about the first spritzes being tricky. Happens a bunch to me. (Totally unrelated , have you tried MaisonFK 724 yet? I’m curious. ) Btw, the shadows look amazing too. Thanks for nothing. 😂😘

@Sunnysmom, I'd say that Askihk is a color that would suit you. It's in the same color families of many of the lippies you like. The brand is worth checking out if you are interested. Shipping was great; Cheekbone is based in Ontario, Canada, but I received it faster than I have products sent from the East Coast. 

EB Vanilla Milk has a lovely softness to it, but you have to use it a few times first. I don't know if it's just me but the recent EB fragrances have taken a while to get to the scent I expect to come from them. I've read about similar reviews so maybe it's not just me. I’ve received a sample of 724 and a couple others from the brand, but I have not gotten around to trying any of them.

mented is a great brand. Their lip balm was my intro to the line - it sold out everywhere, the initial restocks too - when it first came out. The eyeshadow sticks are good - didn't tug on me, color stays put and lasts. A lip gloss will be next for me.
