Is retail therapy helping you handle hot summer weather? Or is this month Justifiable July Hauls for you, sticking to a low-buy plan? Either way, show us all the goodies you got this month! 

Besides the 1st for Canada and the 4th for the US, there are some beauty-related national (in the US anyway) days to celebrate: 

• July 3 - National Compliment Your Mirror Day, more about affirming your reflection than the mirror it’s in. Practice a little self-kindness and love this month. ❤️
• July 23 - Gorgeous Grandma Day, whether or not you have grandkids. I don’t, but I’m certainly old enough to! 😅
• July 29 - National Lipstick Day, a favorite among us lipstick hoarders lovers. Though let’s be honest, all of July is Lipstick Month. 😂💄

@lmaster  great Hauls!😍 The swatches are beautiful shades! I really like the SC Frappucino Lip Liner and the YSL samples. And the HL Glassy Cayenne is very pretty!

Do you like the Harlem fragrances? I keep seeing everyone buy them. Are there any in the sampler set that have a beachy/coconut scent?

@lmaster  Glassy Cayenne looks beautiful. I keep forgetting to swatch Haus Labs blush sticks when I visit Sephora stores. I should put this shade on my Loves List to tempt remind me. 😅 Enjoy your treats, and I hope you find some winners in the Harlem discovery set!

Cheekbone and Pat McGrath Labs:

Finally trying Cheekbone. Pretend 3 of those 4 items aren’t lip products. 😄

Swatches & notes:

Cheekbone:

• Sustain Lipstick shade Askîhk - The Sustain lipsticks are available as refills + pink refillable case. Since this is my first time trying one, I chose the OG non-refillable cardboard case to save a couple bucks. If it passes my all day wear test, I’ll go the refillable route with my next shade (if Cheekbone still ships to the US at that time). For now, I’ll say this formula feels kinda like the old MAC Satin bullets, maybe a touch heavier. No scent, bleeding/feathering, or lip drying during my hour-long lip swatch at home. Askîhk is close to my bottom lip’s natural rosy color, so this is a good MLBB shade.
  
  
• Harmony Lip Gloss shade Fire - swatched on my hand as a glossy near-opaque red and didn’t feel thick or tacky. I won’t know if it’s truly non-sticky til I wear it a full day.
  
  
• Courage Cream Lip and Cheek For Future Generations shade Biskane - in the pan, this feels less emollient than I expected based on ingredients, but it’s still lightweight and easily spreadable and blendable on my hand. For cheeks, I’ll need to use less product than I did in my swatch; this is a good candidate for a stippling brush. For lips though, that “little goes a long way” pigmentation should be more useful. I chose shade Biskane not only because it’s 🔥, but also to support the Cheekbone Beauty Indigenous Youth Scholarship Fund (100% of profits from this shade).
  
  
• Fearless Eyeshadow shade Green Turquoise - this was very easy to finger-blend on my hand, so I’ve got high hopes for eyelid performance. It’s not budgeproof, so I’ll need a primer base—just like I do with powder eyeshadows. I’m in love with this color and haven’t even tried it on my lids yet.

Pat McGrath Labs Legendary Longwear Lip Pencil shades Jean Genie and Deep Void - of course I bought the blue shade, c’mon now. It’s only available direct from the brand. Surprisingly, so is Deep Void, a returning shade. I bought that one specifically to compare to the old formula:

My old opened Deep Void is dried out. 😒 But even if it wasn’t, the new formula would still have a softer texture. The new one’s not as soft as Fenty’s, though I do wonder how long it’ll hold a pointy tip. It did set on my hand though, and that swatch was as budgeproof as the old formula, thank goodness. So my only complaint is the color difference: I realize reformulations often come with color tweaks, but Deep Void no longer matches its name. Some folks will say it’s still very deep dark, sure. But it’s no longer the blackened aubergine I loved. I do still have an old unopened Deep Void and will probably nurse it til I find a good replacement shade (that performs as well as Pat’s liners) by another brand. Pat should just release a jet black lip liner already.
