Tower 28 BeachPlease Cream Blush shade Golden Hour - My 3rd shade of this cream blush. Perfectly named: gives my cheeks a warm sunlit flush. MIght’ve said this before but, Tower 28 makes my 2nd favorite cream blush formula. (Glossier Cloud Paint is still my number 1.) They're much too emollient to work well as undereye color correctors, but I might try anyway with this shade over a grippy primer and set with powder. 

This reminds me that I still haven’t swatched all the Cloud Paints on my skin tone yet… I don’t think I have, anyway. I should also swatch my Tower 28s for comparison and post in one or both of the swatch request threads. Note to self! 

World of Chris Collins EdP Discovery Set - Purchase compelled by curiosity and other BIC members’ orders. Y’all got to me! Currently testing Danse Sauvage on my left arm crook and Harlem Nights on my right. Danse Sauvage is far more interesting to me. My nose is a bit stuffy so I can’t accurately describe what I smell, but any blatant “booziness’ in Danse Sauvage is dwarfed by what I smell in Harlem Nights. This leaves the former fragrance softly cognac, warmly cedar and ancho pepper with maybe a very subdued hint of cayenne, and deeply (but not overbearingly) plum. I’ll try it again when my nose clears up, to see if I can pick up any scents not described in the fragrance notes. Meanwhile, Harlem Nights is so powdery sweet right now, I can’t smell any other individual notes there. Might also have to try that one again later, with a clearer nose. It’s almost giving me a cloyingly sweet fragranced candle headache, though. 

Gucci Rouge a Levres Voile shade Marina Scarlet - I could no longer resist. I have another of these “sheer” Gucci lipsticks and I still don’t know what universe qualifies them as sheer coverage. 😄 (Hey, as a lover of full opacity lip color, I’m not complaining.) As with my other RaL Voile, this one’s a good comfy balance of creamy and emollient. Applies a bit streaky in one coat, but 2 coats evens things out nicely. No bleeding or feathering, and I can’t smell the fragrance under my nose. Marina Scarlet is a perfect orange red for me, so I’m super happy I finally bought it. 

Lip swatch: 

Thanks to this room's lighting, the lipstick looks slightly more orange here. In person, it's a bit redder... closer to tomato or coral red, but does still have an orange tone.

@WinglessOne  Oooo yay. I can’t believe you like tower 28 cream blush as second fav! I adore them. I haven’t tried the Glossier mostly because they don’t sell them in Canada and I haven’t put an order in yet but I need it. Have you tried the Saie blush yet? I ordered one during the sale it hasn’t arrived yet but I’m interested in comparing to the tower 28. Ok so that lipstick looks gorgeous on you but in what universe is that sheer??

@ather  The Tower 28 and Glossier blushes differ by texture and finish: Tower 28's are oil based, and Glossier's are water based. Cloud Paint feels lighter than BeachPlease and doesn't have that oily emollience. Cloud Paints are my faves because they blend onto my mostly-dry combo skin very easily and seamlessly. They create the most natural-looking flush I've ever gotten from any blush, be it cream or powder. The only downside to Cloud Paints is longevity: they tend to fade after a few hours. By contrast, the Tower 28 blushes last all day on me unless I've sweat them off. 

I haven't tried Saie's blush yet. I almost ordered one during the sale but didn't, and I forgot to look for testers during my store visit. 🤦‍♀️ I just went and added a shade to my Loves list so I'll remember to swatch it in-store. Let me know what you think of yours when it arrives and you've played with it. 

My other "sheer" Gucci lipstick shade is Love Before Breakfast and it's nowhere near sheer either. 😂 One of Gucci's other lipstick lines, though... the ones in the skinny bullet... Gucci Glow & Care Shine Lipstick: these are sheer. I have one shade and though I like it, it's sheerer than I'd like so I won't buy another one of them.

@WinglessOne  Thanks for the tip on the Gucci lipsticks! I’ll definitely check out the actual sheer line!!! I don’t mind full coverage but if it’s named sheer and isn’t I would be disappointed. Thanks for the update on the cloud paint. I am a bad face touched so nothing usually lasts me all day and now with masks I’m lucky to still have mascara on by the end of the day 🤣 what shade of the Saie did you happen to put in your cart? I ordered I believe the name is Spicy. A little darker than I normally would wear but I thought it may look nice in the summer. I also saw it mixed with chilly and it looked beautiful. If spicy is to rich of a colour I was thinking I could mix it with T28 magic hour and get the same finished product. I think it’s due to arrive tomorrow so I’ll keep you posted! I think tower 28 and the merit are my top 2 right now. I seem to prefer creams more lately!

@ather  Spicy's the shade on my Loves list, so now I'm even more interested to hear your thoughts on it. 🙂 Good idea to try mixing it with another blush to tweak the shade. 

Funny about Gucci's lipsticks: on their site, they have a chart that compares all their lipstick lines. Here's a screenshot of the first few rows:

I don't own a Baume a Levres, so I don't know if they're truly sheer. But my Rouge de Beaute Brilliant is very emollient and applies almost gloss-like, which makes it sheerer than my 2 Voiles—yet Gucci claims the opposite level of coverage on their chart. Maybe some other shades of that skinny bullet are more pigmented than mine, I dunno. I kinda doubt it.

@WinglessOne  interesting I don’t get why they call some sheer that aren’t. But I guess it’s not a bad thing. I think the baume a levees would be perfect for me. Maybe next sale I’ll pick one up if I can hold off that long. Plus the packaging is gorgeous. 

I swatched the saie spicy on my arm and mixed it down. I’m surprised I can actually sheer it out well. I may not need to mix it with another blush. I’ll try and wear it tomorrow. And take a picture and update you but I thought it was a great idea to use babyfacial the other night and my face is not happy today. It’s very textured. So fingers crossed it’s better in the morning. 
 This picture is in direct light.  I did notice it wiped off fairly easy. So im not sure the longitivtiy of it. man’s since i am a bad face rubber we shall see!!! But I like the colour so that’s a plus!

@ather  Thanks for the swatch and initial review! Hopefully the blush will last a good while on your cheeks. 🙂 It looks beautiful in your photo; I like that it's easy to sheer out, and it looks like it's buildable for more coverage if desired.
