The holiday countdown has begun!! 🎁  Please share your advent calendar unboxings. 😍

Whether you open all the doors to your calendar at once, or whether you open a box one day at time and follow the traditional schedule (e.g., 24 day unboxing beginning on 12/1 and 12-day calendar unboxing beginning 12/25).

It's all good @blackkitty2014; we can't love all the scents. My wallet is grateful for this. 😅 The dry down on this isn't so bad. I've heard the eau de parfum for this smells much different than this eau de toilette. I've made a note to compare the next time I am in the boutique. For science, of course. 😀

Diptyque Day 13 (late posting)

Ahhhh, Baies. Diptqyue Bais Candle (mini) is one of the house's most iconic product. It's a fruity-floral scent that has hints of green/earthy notes to it. For me, this Baies candle really hits its stride the longer it's burning, though the cold throw from this candle after it has been lit and cooled is also quite lovely.

The scent is described as a blend of blackcurrent leaves (fruit, green/earthy notes) and roses. The rose scent is subtle; I actually find the floral note in this one to be more akin to a mixed bouquet than solely roses. Every so often, my nose picks up on something a little sharp, a little Christmas-y. It makes me think juniper but not as loud or pungent as Bath & Body Works Juniper Breeze. The juniper scent here is much more quiet, though still detectable - crisp, pine-like, cccasionally imbuing the candle and its sweet fruity-floral notes with a refined, fresh, alpine feel.

Diptyque Day 12
Diptyque Hand and Body Lotion - Fleur de Peau

When I first opened the box, I thought this might be the corresponding hand lotion to the previous day's exfoliating hand wash. It is a hand lotion but it has a different scent (Fleur de Peau) than yesterday's exfoliating hand wash.

The scent on this lotion wears close to the skin for me. It's a mix of soft, light, cleanm ever so slightly sweet, floral scent and a very faint linen note, with the subtlest hints of powdery-ness trailing through. I read powdery floral and musk notes in a description for this scent and that initially gave me some hesitation to dive head first into this scented lotion but my reservations were for naught. It's a really pretty, softly accented floral. I wonder whether it might be a touch soft for a perfume (though perhaps the parfum would have a more intense scent - making a note to test this scent out in the fragrance format), but I could see this being a really lovely hair mist.

Diptyque Day 11

Diptyque Exfoliating Hand Wash

[I meant to post this last night but "resting my eyes" turned into a longer "nap" than I accounted for. Oopsy. 😲]

The scent on this hand wash is soft and fresh with woodsy, green and floral leaning notes. This is a scent I wouldn’t mind in a candle or perfume. 

The granules in this gel cleanser are made from ground olive pits. They’re finely milled and are suspended in the pale yellow-tan hued gel. The gel lathers to a very light foam and I was pleasantly surprised by the scent as well as how it makes my skin feel so soft, clean and lightly moisturized.

I did a bit of zooming in to pick up the granules in this hand wash.

The full size is packaged in a beautiful glass bottle, which gives it an elegance in keeping with Diptyque's aesthetic, but it gives me some pause whether it’s a good idea for me to have a glass bottle in my bathroom (I’m not so sure it is, as I am prone to be a bit of a klutz 😬). It’s a very lovely product but that price tag ($75) isn’t so lovely at all. Ha! That said, I will thoroughly enjoy using this deluxe sample size. I wonder if they have a matching hand cream or lotion in this scent? 🤔

Sounds awesome , I too wouldn't want a glass bottle in the bathroom.  I can see it shattered all over my floor and I reach for something else.  @itsfi

Diptyque Day 10 

Ahhh, the second of the limited edition holiday candles (and a new-to-me scent).

From my experience, Diptyque releases 3 types of scents for its limited edition candles - Sapin, the annual classic pine tree Christmas scent; a winter wonderland leaning scent - the powdery bent of this year's Etoile fits this bill; and a scent from the gourmand family, which is where we have this Diptyque Friandise Candle (mini).

There's just barely a hint of fragrance in the cold throw as it came out of its drawer. Once the candle has been sitting out for a while and after it has had some time to burn, I get the warm mix of orange peel tempered by a subtle, creamy vanilla scent. I've read that some have described the orange scent as being sweet, candied. My nose picked up more of a slightly bitter, slightly biting bent to it - not like orange zest, but the smell of the actual orange peel and rind.

Layers of spice dance alongside that orange peel base, in a beautifully layered way -

• first, a clove-like note but with more of a mildly sweet kick (it's the star anise)
• then a sprinkling of cinnamon
• followed by the faintest bit (very faint) of that crisp, cool peppermint smell that punctuates the air from just crushed candy canes.

Off the top of my head, I'm not familiar with how Friandise translates, but a quick search on the good ol' internet says it means "sweet treat". A treat indeed, and while there are some sweet notes to it, the overall feel is more of a semi-sweet treat.

This one sounds so good, @itsfi! Diptyque does such a lovely job on their seasonal scents and this one sounds like a wonderful addition!

@itsfi  Ooooo yes! This scent sounds interesting. Orange and vanilla sounds amazing! I love how you describe all the scents. I feel like I can almost smell it too! Your description is amazing! It’s reminding me of these hard candies we use to have at Christmas time!

@ather, awww, thank you. I appreciate that; I really try to put some effort into taking in a scent and trying to describe it. It’s a work in progress - so true of so many things, yes? Ooooh, hard candies with orange and vanilla? Now I’m intrigued. 😆

@itsfi  yes! It is from a small candy shop back home. They make old fashioned candies! I will see if I can find some and send them your way! If not my mom can send me some!! Mmmm yum! They remind me of my childhood and Christmas!

Diptyque Day 9

A huge smile swept over my face when I removed the lid on the box to find this beauty. It's one of my favorite Diptyque candles. 😍

Diptyque Feu de Bois

Warm. Cozy. Smoky. When lit, the scent makes me feel like I'm sitting in front of a fireplace. 

I occasionally pick up the smell of firewood crackling, which is apropos as "feu de bois", if I'm not mistaken, is French for wood fire. But to confirm, c'est vrai, @ather?

It's a winter staple and a welcome treat when it's cold or rainy outside.
