The holiday countdown has begun!! 🎁 Please share your advent calendar unboxings. 😍
Whether you open all the doors to your calendar at once, or whether you open a box one day at time and follow the traditional schedule (e.g., 24 day unboxing beginning on 12/1 and 12-day calendar unboxing beginning 12/25).
For those of us who just can't wait to see what goodies are in our advent calendars and are opening all the doors/boxes at once before the end of the season, please consider hiding your unboxing post behind a spoiler tab so those who want to be surprised day by day can still do so.
Day 23
Diptyque Tam Dao Eau de Parfum (travel size)
The fresh burst of spices (maybe star anise and a citrus peel) and wood notes that greet me initially with a spritz of Tam Dao quickly transforms to a creamy woody scent with hints of sandalwood sprinkled throughout. It’s strong at first but softens up before the cedar settles in with notes of something softly green, slightly resinous and subtly sweet and warm with a faint herbaceous note at the end. I can’t pinpoint those green and herb-like note(s) - there’s a mild winter feel to it but it’s less sharp and crisp than juniper and less intense than pine. [Note: looks like it’s cypress based on what the brand lists for this fragrance.]
Dry down is soft and sweet, but not sugary sweet. The perfume still has touches of those lovely wintry notes to it but they’re even more mild and less resinous than before. The herbaceous note has also fully dissipated and the creaminess comes forward more. The dry down on this one is really pretty; I am enjoying the notes at the end a lot.
Day 22
Diptyque Roses Candle (mini)
One of my favorite rose scents. I’ve probably amassed many favorite rose candles 😆 but this was one of the very first. The candle version of this is just as lovely as the perfume, capturing the rose from petal to stem. There’s nothing cloying or too earthy about this one. Just a beautiful, fresh, true to form rose. In a candle. 🌹
Diptyque Day 21
Diptyque released L'eau Papier in spring 2023 as a limited edition fragrance. It did so well that they brought the scent back a few months ago into their permanent line and expanded its range to include, among other items, this shower gel. It's a softer, subtler scent - a skin scent as far as the Diptqyue collection goes - I get most soft, powdery florals with the eau de toilette; wondering if I might pick up the different notes with this body cleanser. It will pair well for trips alongside the travel sized EdP from a few days ago - Day 18 - L'eau Papier Eau de Toilette Travel Spray.
I didn't buy any advents this year but I've been living vicariously through Lauren Mae Beauty on Youtube, who has bought all kinds of advents at all different price points. She just did the Maison Francis Kurkdjian and it's 😍
@makeitup305, the Maison Francis Kurdijian advent is stunning! 😍 Beautifully crafted. I debated over that one and the Diptqyue. Diptyque won out because I have most of the items in the MFK advent.
@itsfi The diptyque is so enticing, too! That MFK one was what I expect all luxury advents to be like. Not really something I would buy for myself but I love the way it's set up.
Day 2 Maison Margiela Replica Advent Calendar
Another mini 🫶🏽 Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' Beach Walk Eau de Toilette with Coconut Milk & Musk
This is so cute is musk like a scent room filler I’ve never seen this before coconut sounds like quite the treat as far as scent but that’s me. Do you like coconut scents? @danielledanielle
I actually do. The coconut can sometimes smell like cream to me (dunno how else to explain it) or butter popcorn when it's too synthetic 😂 @peculiarzmakeup . A combo of vanilla and coconut I like is NEST New York Madagascar Vanilla Perfume Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL . Beach walk has a nice amount of sandalwood, so the scent really does small like the beach to me - not the ocean, more like sand + suntan oil + coconut
That sounds fantastic I’ve never had a perfume before only the SDJ it’s on my resolutions list 😂 but for real a real goal for January thanks for the lovely description I’ll check it out I love coconut and vanilla as well ❤️ @danielledanielle
The mini bottles are so cute @danielledanielle ❣️ Are these mini's a spray with a nozzle or like a decanter?
They are dabbers @itsfi , I pipette them into larger bottles I got off of Amazon
That is my favorite @danielledanielle
@CorgiMommy It's a good one. I love the combo they suggest "Bonfire on the beach" which is #Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' Beach Walk Eau de Toilette with Coconut Milk & Musk + Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' By The Fireplace 3.4 oz / 100 mL
What a great idea @danielledanielle
Diptyque Day 20
If you like white florals ...
I may have let out a joyous squeal when I unboxed Day 20 and found Diptqyue Do Son Eau de Toilette staring up at me. 😍 White floral fragrances can be tricky - they tend to be big on scent and can often be heady, cloying. Not when Diptyque arranges them though. I was always a little hesitant when it came to white florals but a combination of using a few white floral scented sheet masks and finding fragrances that were less jarring to my nose has given me not only an appreciation for them, but a fondness as well. I'm very pleased my fancy schmancy finely milled Do Son hand soap from Diptqyue Day 3 has this EdP.
Diptyque Day 19
Diptyque Narguile Candle (mini)
Oooouh, a Diptqyue scent that is completely new to me - I didn't even know this scent was part of their collection. @blackkitty2014, are you familiar with this one? I don't recall seeing this in the boutiques ... that seems like it will require further investigation. I'm up for that! 😀
The cold and hot throws from this candle are wonderful - I get a sweet-but-not-too-sweet honey that gives it richness and warmth as well as a soft, smokey scent that made me think of cigars. Other notes, winter spices, dance about but the honey and cigar notes are the ones that consistently come through and beautifully so. It took about 20 minutes for all the notes to blend together and created such a luxe, warm, cozy feel. I feel like most people would consider this a fall fragrance but I can see this being a great scent for the home from fall through winter. This is another thumbs up for me from the calendar. 😍
I looked up the scent online and it's only available in the candle form - I can see that being the best fit for this scent, though a room fragrance would be a lovely touch as well (mmmmm, Dear Diptyque...). I also saw that tobacco leaves are one of the primary notes to Narguile (which, translates to "hookah") which would be the cigar smell I picked up.
Ohh I don’t know this one @itsfi . But based on what you described I would love this scent as a candle. Something I love to sniff but scared to wear (worrying about too masculine) . Oh man Diptyque did a great job with this calendar 👏❤️🌹
I'm with you on that @blackkitty2014. Smokey scents in candle form are usually a hit with me; for fragrances though, I really have to give it a good wear test. The honey on this one tones down the cigar scent which is much more subtle than it could be.
