Advent Calendars 2024 - Let the Unboxings Begin!!

The holiday countdown has begun!! 🎁  Please share your advent calendar unboxings. 😍

Whether you open all the doors to your calendar at once, or whether you open a box one day at time and follow the traditional schedule (e.g., 24 day unboxing beginning on 12/1 and 12-day calendar unboxing beginning 12/25).

For those of us who just can't wait to see what goodies are in our advent calendars and are opening all the doors/boxes at once before the end of the season, please consider hiding your unboxing post behind a spoiler tab so those who want to be surprised day by day can still do so.

@CorgiMommy, I usually pick up their holiday trio set every year; this year being a pass since I picked up this advent calendar. I had Neige from last year's set burning briefly last week.

Right @blackkitty2014?? I'm kinda kicking myself for not picking up an advendar calendar from them in the past. But, now, we know!! 😂 They've really packed some beautiful scents in this one and we're still just in the first week of unboxing.

@CynthieLu, it'll be fun to see how all three of the limited edition holiday ones smell together. Diptyque typically has them burning in one part of their stores this time of year so that's where I got the idea from. I have a feeling though that the Sapin candle (usually their most popular holiday scent) may be closer to the end of the advent calendar, possibly the last day, but we'll see. Curious when the next scent from the holiday collection will pop up.

@itsfi  this sounds lovely! I splurged on all 3 of Diptyque's holiday scents this year, including this one, but haven't lit any of the 3 yet. Having a hard time deciding which to try first, haha! Interesting how the scent seems to behave differently before being lit vs while lit vs after being lit. I wonder what causes that?

I remember that haul of yours @caitbird - it was a beauty, with some lovely candles, including these Diptqyue holiday ones. You found them at TJ Maxx / Marshalls, right?! What a find! I was surprised how the scent from the candle differed when it was lit. I'll have to research that more but it was definitely interesting. 

It's so hard to decide which to burn first, isn't it? I usually pick up the mini trio set of the Diptyque holiday candles and then spend a ton of time debating which to burn first ... then next. 😅 I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on them when you have a chance to reach for them.

Diptyque Day 3

Day 3 presents us with the Do Son fragrance in the form of a perfumed hand soap. It's fancy, floral and feminine. The scent is prominent and lingers longer than most hand soaps. If I had a guest bathroom, it would go in there if my guest was someone who likes fancy, white floral scents. As it is, I don't have a guest bathroom 😂 and I'm not actually  sure I personally know of a potential guest who is really into that scent profile, so I guess it's going in my bathroom. I can live with that. I don't know if I'm fancy enough for a Do Son perfumed hand soap, but I'll certainly try my best to live up to that standard (or pretend to) when reaching for this soap. 😉

Diptyque Do Son is not for the faint of heart. It's heavy on the white florals - tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom. I've not always been a fan of that family of florals as they can be very heady, cloying, and overpowering. The florals in Do Son pack a punch, for sure, but the scent is neither heady, cloying, nor overpowering. The scent profile includes notes of pink pepper, benzoin and musk, along with other florals such as iris and rose. The musk here is more warm and woodsy, maybe slightly sweet, less spicy and animalic as it can often be, and that, I think, makes my nose like Do Son more.

@itsfi  Hmmm is the Do Son soap as strong as it is in other forms? 

I also believe that you are that fancy to use a fancy soap! And if it makes you feel fancy that’s even better! Feeling fancy is so fun!

@ather, Do Son is one of the stronger scents in the brand's collection. I feel like the fragrance being heavily based in white florals naturally makes it prone to being a heavier fragranced. Thankfully, it's not overpowering or cloying. Awww, thanks. One of the nice things about advent calendars is that I get to try/use things that I might not otherwise pick up for myself. 😊

I have Do Son Eau de Perfume @itsfi. I love it. Yes it’s a strong white floral fragrance 😘 now I’m curious if Oud Palao will be in this calendar.

Diptyque has a way with making their white floral scents strong and prominent but not overwheming. I love that @blackkitty2014! 💖 I'll keep an eye out for Oud Palao and tag you if it pops ups in one of these boxes.

@itsfi I love your analysis of this soap.  I giggled when you said you don't have a guest bathroom and you don't have a potential guest so it is yours for now.

@CorgiMommy, just trying to make a "logical" determination that I get to keep it. 😂 I have this scent in a sample size (and like it) but for some reason, taking the form of a finely milled mini French soap makes it feel so extra.
