new to the fragrance world

I've been slowly getting more into the perfume world, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I really like florals, the Daisy collection by Marc Jacobs, and Pink lemonade by Lacoste. thanks!

Re: new to the fragrance world

Hi @plasticink,

I love floral scents! I particularly love scents that have peonies in them. My favorite floral scent at the moment is the KENZO World Eau de Parfum. I love this fragrance because it is not that strong and it lasts all day for me. You can find this fragrance here > https://www.sephora.com/product/kenzo-world-eau-de-parfum-P416388?skuId=1913813&icid2=products%20gri.... 🙂

Best Regards,

❤️ Raquel

Hi @plasticink!

You might find this post filled with tips for fragrance beginners by @pocketvenus to be helpful! There are some really great suggestions about how to branch out in fragrance in that post.

I also like to read blogs - Bois de Jasmin and NSTPerfume are a couple of my favourites. Fragrantica can be interesting, too.

Also, try to get samples of fragrances to test out. That can be a fairly inexpensive way to explore scents, either by finding free samples from different places or buy purchasing decants. I know Luckyscent in particular has a neat service, where you can fill out a questionnaire and they'll send you some recommendations via sample decants (for a fee).

Just a couple thoughts of the top of my head - since you mentioned florals, I'd actually try out Jo Malone. The scents are fairly linear but that isn't necessarily a bad thing - can be a good way to familiarize yourself with certain notes. They're also fairly popular and some of them are quite nice. Aerin Lauder has a few nice options, too.

Re: new to the fragrance world

I agree - Jo Malone has some nice florals, from light and fresh like Wild Bluebell (I just got the 100ml this past weekend *clappy clappy* YAY!), to the pure, bright Red Roses and the subtle and soft Peony & Blush Suede.   They also have pre-order for their newest English Fields collection, which I'm torn on.  My favorites from that line are the Greenwheat & Meadowsweet and Poppy & Barley.  The Honey & Crocus smells like Target.  lmao  The nice thing about Jo Malone is that you can layer the scents, which I find helps with longevity and help balance the linear scent like @lachaton mentioned.  Ex. layering Wild Bluebell over Myrrh & Tonka - it also allows you to experiment.

Aerin has Hibiscus Palm, which I find very floral, and not my cup of tea, but just caveating off the previous post.

Also, Nest has a lot of floral scents.  I've only smelled Citrine and Midnight Fleur and the Iris one.  Not my style, but perhaps I need to smell on the skin.

Also, the Dolce in the light green bottle smells so nice, light and fresh!

Definitely start with samples so you can see how it works with you and if it fits your needs.

These are great suggestions, @lachaton! I also read Bois de Jasmin, it's a great resource ❤️
