I'm one of those gals that are obsessed with fragrances and have about around 50 60 70 80 and still collecting...(if you want to call it that.) So I would like to know what are you wearing today?
I'm wearing Obsession...(hahaha kinda fits this thread, doesn't it? :D)
You and I could be best friends. I have been studying and making perfumery for a year and a half.
Wow, what everyone is wearing sounds great. I haven't been wearing anything super new. Mostly my favorites.
I have been wearing Givenchy L'Interdit flankers quite a bit and the Tom Ford Black Orchid Line quite a bit. Specifically: L'Interdit Intense, Angelique, and Tuberose Noir, Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP and Black Orchid Reserve.
L'Interdit Intense is a bit more masculine than the others in my opinion but retains enough femininity that it doesn't cross the line too much for me. I enjoy the sesame aspect of it.
L'interdit Angelique I didn't know what Angelica smelled like. I read green and herbal and thought it would be nice to have more green perfumes and I absolutely adore L'interdit and flankers so I bought it and am so glad I did. It is herbal as stated but retains the lush floral too. It might just be my favorite of the line.
L'Interdit Tuberose Noir I think has a nice bit of smoky flavor to it, and reminds me of maybe a lake house on a lush summer night. I don't find it dark as in super deep and spicy or syrupy but less bright than the OG.
Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP is very incense-y on me. The patchouli really comes out. At first smell I was like, GAH! I think it's really deep and syrupy but after wearing it a few times it became a top favorite.
Tom Ford Black Orchid Reserve has less of an incense-y scent on me. I do think more of the other notes come forward with this flanker. It opens with a bit of a weird scent to my nose but I do really like it. This one is starting to overthrow the EDP in the favorite line up.
All of these really last all day on either my skin or my clothing. All of them are good with two sprays for me but truly I could become an oversprayer with some of these. Others I know I'd be sorry if I did because of the strength of the perfume.
@Samtian I guess I should note that Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum (gold bottle don't think I mentioned it but thought I would say...) used to burn out on me within two hours. It was super strong too and all I got was sheer intensity. I don't wear it often but now that the perfume has had time to macerate for 3? years it smells a bit different with more notes showing up and lasts longer than two hours. I think there's a note or two that really lasts but I don't think I've worn it in months, as in 6+. I would say in the last year or so I've been applying more perfume at once than I used to also. Just not the Black Orchid Parfum gold bottle version. hahah I am still a bit shy of it from that first year. But the ones I mentioned have real staying power for me.
Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder:
I spent yesterday (and today) trying this one again for the second or third time (note that Matiere Premiere perfumes definitely have staying power, I've even heard people say they stay put after showering).
How Matiere Premiere describes Vanilla Powder:
"A contrast between a dark vanilla and a white Palo Santo wood…Palo Santo Oil Ecuador brings structure and verticality. The addictive character of Vanilla is reinforced by Coconut powder. White Musks envelop the Vanilla and powders for a contemporary, luminous perfume."

My Own Take:
After first spraying Vanilla Powder on I'm reminded of the scent of powdered sugar, madelienes and light vanilla extract. I attribute the powdered sugar scent to the dry coconut and the almond and almost citrus citrus madeliene-like scent to the possible inclusion of heliotrope. Then, briefly, the lighter vanilla subsides and brightens into the heliotrope alone. About half an hour later, a deeper vanilla bourbon and coconut take over in almost equal proportion with the addition of something almost amber-like. Not long after I find myself there's a coolness that may be the addition of Palo Santo yet I never quite get the dry wood scent I'd hoped for and the scent at first dry down feels mostly like a dark vanilla, coconut powder. I say, "first dry down" as the scent remained with me upon waking and even now and reminds me mostly of...chilled soft serve ice cream with possible musk (though certainly not white musk). All in all a nice, warm vanilla/coconut powder scent but when it comes to the Palo Santo I'd hoped for I'm afraid I've lost the forest for the trees.
Final take: a more potent version of essentially Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' Afternoon Delight Eau de Toilette with Vanilla & Sandalwood without the Sandalwood. Perhaps worth it for Vanilla lovers but for the $$$ not my first choice from Matiere Premiere.
I'm wearing KILIAN Paris Love, Don’t Be Shy Eau de Parfum with Orange Blossom and Vanilla for date night with hubby 😉 it's one of the few perfumes my husband actually likes haha
Today I am trying BORNTOSTANDOUT Indecent Cherry Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz/50 ml eau de parfum spray (from the discovery set) for the first time. 🍒
HEAD - Sweet Cherry, Almond, Saffron
HEART - Bulgarian Rose, Sour Cherry, Strawberry, Mimosa
BASE - Vanilla, Oriental, Indonesian Patchouli, Musk, Benzoin
My thoughts: Opens as a nice bright, juicy, sweet-tart cherry scent, though there is perhaps something almost artificial to it at times. I’m not really able to pick out the strawberry, but perhaps it is blending in with the cherry to produce a more general fruitiness. As it dries down, the fruity cherry aspect fades and gives way to a more powdery, nutty scent, though it still leans sweet. Longevity and projection both seem decent so far. It’s nice enough to me overall, but I don’t love it on first impression; I like the initial cherry scent best, and wish that lasted longer.
After half a week of spring, we got dumped with another snow storm yesterday, so today I wore Ellis Brooklyn APRÈS Eau de Parfum Travel Spray 0.33 oz/ 10 mL paired with KILIAN Paris Apple Brandy Eau de Parfum with Bergamot 1.7oz/50ml Eau de Parfum Spray (thank you TeamBIC for the gratis!). This paring felt exactly like a ski lodge at the end of the day (minus the sweat), a nice outdoorsy fir tree opened into a warm boozy sweetness that closed into a smokey fire. Not something I'd wear a lot, but definitely apropos of the weather. If I have to endure the snow, at least I'll make it fun.
@haleyvvvv ooh, this sounds like a nice combo! I have Apres and definitely enjoy it for cold fall and winter days - I'll have to see what I have that it might layer well with.
@caitbird @haleyvvvv , never thought of pairing Ellis Brooklyn APRÈS Eau de Parfum 1.7 oz/ 50 mL Eau de Parfum Spray ... Interesting 🤔🥰
Glossier Glossier You Doux Eau de Parfum is one of my favorite skin scents. I love how minimal but addictive it is
Good afternoon! I just joined this group as I have become a huge fragrance fan. I love to collect and my collection has become larger in the last few months. I have 2 on the way lol! Today I am wearing The classic YSL Libre (a break from my usual gourmands).
@lizziebro welcome! 😊 YSL Libre is indeed a classic. Looking forward to hearing more about what perfumes you like!
Welcome, @lizziebro ! Libre is a nice scent. 🥰 What perfumes did you order?
Ooh my all time favorites are Black Opium and Goddess. Right now I’ve been liking clean reserve Caramel Swirl and Mochi Milk
