Going cruelty-free

Does anyone know if Sephora has any cruelty-free fragrances? If so which ones?

RE: Going cruelty-free

Clean at Sephora doesn’t necessarily mean cruelty free so don’t follow the labeling. Even ‘clean’ should have fine print or an asterisk near it. Directly search and try for info on Cruelty Free and PETA approved sites for reference. PETAs list has stricter standards than the leaping bunny. Most brands that label “cruelty free” on their websites but not on their products is because they sell to Mainland China which requiresby law to animal test. Off the bat, Tarte is the number one cruelty free brand at Sephora besides Urban Decay. It doesn’t necessarily mean thatall of their products are vegan, but these twobrands are loyal to being CF. Don’t forget that some CF brands are owned by major brands that test on animals like L’Oréal. The same applies to perfume and their houses. I noticed that Mugler and Elizabeth and James *claimed* to be, but there’s evidence that they aren’t CF. TOCCA,LAVANILLE, and Maison M. Margeila also claim to be CF at Sephora. If you want something more affordable try Pacifica, if you want to splurge there’s Chantecaille sold at other retailers.

Re: Going cruelty-free

Hi @Influenster! An easy way to find cruelty-free fragrance is to look for the Clean at Sephora label on fragrances on the website. Please note that a requirement for cruelty-free is specific to Clean fragrances so you’ll still have to do your research on cosmetics and skincare with the Clean label.

From the Clean at Sephora section on the site: Clean fragrance brands must also be cruelty-free and without the following: PTFE/PFOA, Styrene, Polyacrylamide / acrylamide, Acetaldehyde, Acetonitrile, Methylene chloride, Animal fats, oils, and musks, Benzalkonium chloride, Toluene, Resorcinol, Acetone, Butoxyethanol, Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, Methyl cellosolve, Methylisothiazolinone / methylchloroisothiazolinone, Mercury and mercury compounds (thimerosal), and Bisphenol A (BPA).
