Fun Fragrance Finding Questionnaire

Found this while looking for something entirely else. As it usually is, eh? The Proust questionnaire from Le Labo. Not sure how helpful these question really are in finding the "perfect" fragrance for you, but they sure are fun! Le Labo says the questions let them “try to get a better albeit imperfect understanding of people’s personality and hence help them in the complex process of choosing a scent.” I say: we could have some fun. Simple as that. And maybe get to know each other better. So, if you're game... 😉

This is such a cool idea!

1. Your main characteristic: I’m organized and like to be (over) prepared. No situation is gonna take me by surprise and nothing will ever fall through the cracks.

2. If not yourself, who would you be? Coco Chanel. She was an innovative boss lady who pushed boundaries for women and in fashion! And she never gave up on what she believed in.

3. Your favorite food/drink? I love all candy, even though I am an adult and should know better than to be eating stuff that’s 99.9% sugar haha. 

4.The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? J’adore by Dior. It’s the fragrance my mom always wears, and it always reminds me of her.

5. Your dream job? I never quite made it, and I’m so happy where I am, but my dream job was always to be a human rights lawyer. I hope in the future to be able to pursue some type of philanthropy. I just want to put good out into the world!

6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? To be able to sing! Don’t get me wrong - I’m definitely a singing in the car and shower kinda girl, but singing and singing well are quite different 😂

7. Your weirdest extravagance? My biggest extravagance would be Louis Vuitton bags. I don’t know how or why, I certainly didn’t grow up in a house where having things like that was common, but I’m obsessed with my little LV collection, and gifting pieces to my loved ones.

8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? I wear fragrance of some sort everyday, and I wear it to evoke a certain attitude/mood. KILIAN - Princess Eau de Parfumhhas been my latest “confident cool girl who gets stuff done” fragrance haha

9. Your strongest olfactive memory? L’Oréal kids shampoo (especially the strawberry smoothie) and detangler spray. Takes me right back to when I was a really young kid and my mom would brush my hair after it was washed.

10. Your favourite colour and flower? Baby pink is my favourite color, and I LOVE peonies and sunrise sunset roses.

11. On what occasion do you lie? When telling the truth would do nothing other than hurt the other person.

12. Your two favorite fashion brands? Zuhair Murad and Ralph & Russo.

13. How would you like to die? I choose not to think about this kind of stuff 😂 but as long as it’s painless, with dignity and I have my family around me I guess any way is okay.

14. When and where are you the happiest? Anytime I’m baking, but especially when I’m with my mom baking our Christmas and holiday cookies! It’s been our tradition forever and I love the Christmas season.

15. Your favorite motto? Aut inveniam viam aut faciam - Latin proverb meaning “I shall either find a way or make one”

@cianni, I'm trying to think of a cheerful fragrance that's also ready to take the lead. Princess is actually quite suitable, sweet and fun but not at all a pushover. Maybe Flowerbomb?

@lyravega, I'm so thankful that you've started this thread.  I love reading everyone's answers!

1. Your main characteristic?  I over-prepare for things because I don't like to be under-prepared.  But I admit that things happen that you can't prepare for, so I'm good about accepting and fixing them when they do.
2. If not yourself, who would you be?  I would like to be Catherine the Great.  Her husband the Emperor had a mistress and was preparing to ship her off to Siberia, so you know, she just took over.
3. Your favorite food/drink? Macaroni and Cheese.
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? I love a few but I don't think I've found a favorite yet.
5. Your dream job? Not sure. I like the job I have.  I'm never quite satisfied, though.
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? I don't think I was gifted with a talent. I've learned empathy as I've matured.
7. Your weirdest extravagance?  I own some really lovely and expensive shoes (a lot from eBay), and I don't know why.  I think I buy them for my imaginary life, not my real life.
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? Every two or three days.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory?  I walked into a restaurant once and the smell of a certain food really reminded me of my grandfather.  I wasn't even really close to him.  But I actually think I saw him in front of me for a second.
10. Your favourite colour and flower? Color = Red.  Flower = Roses.
11. On what occasion do you lie? Almost never. I have a strong guilt complex.
12. Your two favorite fashion brands? Louboutin and Prada
13. How would you like to die? As painlessly as possible.
14. When and where are you the happiest?  Outside in the Spring and Summer.
15. Your favorite motto?  "If you are going through hell, keep going" Winston Churchill

@curlychiquita, I would recommend something indomitable and a touch imaginative. Piguet's Bandit. For a gentler wear, Serge Luten's La Fille de Berlin.

@curlychiquita, it's a gorgeous leather chypre that opens very bitter and green with a dry down blooming with lush white florals. Takes no prisoners 🙂

1. Your main characteristic? I’m a fairly accepting person, especially of my own quirks. I’m weird and I’m cool with other people’s weirdness.
2. If not yourself, who would you be? I’d love to be someone from a totally different culture, a different part of the world, to know the world from a different frame of reality. 
3. Your favorite food/drink? Anything spicy ranks high on my love lists, foods and drinks alike! Yup, lots of chili-tinged hot cocoa enjoyed this holiday season, and a jalapeño mojito is awesome!
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? Chantecaille Kalimantan transports me every time I wear it, while Ralph Lauren Safari will always be the scent of my mother.
5. Your dream job? What I’m doing now, teaching! It’s amazing that I get to help kids the way all of my awesome teachers helped me so many moons ago. 
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? I wish I was a graceful dancer, but I can only manage to look like Molly Ringwald on a good day, Elaine otherwise.
7. Your weirdest extravagance? I have more red lipsticks than I’ll need in several lifetimes,  but I love ‘em!
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? I wear perfume to suit my mood, like a personal life coach telling me what kind of day I’ll have: bold, sexy, sunny, fresh, sweet. I wear perfume just about everyday, and I am never without a purse spray on hand.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? The way my mother smelled: she was rest and dreams, safety and warmth. Up until she passed away, I would crawl into bed with her, breathe her in, and take a nap with her. I miss her scent, I miss feeling that secure that I could let go of the world and feel free to sleep soundly.
10. Your favourite colour and flower? I love purple, have for as long as I can remember. I love sunflowers, my folks had a print of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers in our house growing up, and I was fascinated by it. It’s the sincerest flower of all.
11. On what occasion do you lie? I lie when the truth would be too cruel to share. 
12. Your two favorite fashion brands? I’m terrible with fashion, but I find Banana Republic and Anne Taylor make lots of stuff that works for me.
13. How would you like to die? I want to die fully aware, I want to consciously think my final thoughts and speak my final words and make sure that these are the things that carry me into the hereafter, I don’t want to be caught unaware and have my last moment be one that is scary or meaningless.I don’t want my death to be traumatic to my loved ones.
14. When and where are you the happiest? I’m happiest at the beach, watching the sunrise. The prospect of a new day never feels more thrilling than watching it unfurl in a riot of colors and clouds. 
15. Your favorite motto? And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

@LCResz, I think you could pull off these big spicy orientals we don't see that much anymore even though that doesn't quite match your fashion taste. Bold and romantic. YSL's Opium, the original one, not the flankers.

I also love your answer to 13. What I find sad about the ICU is dying intubated and oblivious to my own passing. But maybe for some people, they'd rather not know!
