Fun Fragrance Finding Questionnaire

Found this while looking for something entirely else. As it usually is, eh? The Proust questionnaire from Le Labo. Not sure how helpful these question really are in finding the "perfect" fragrance for you, but they sure are fun! Le Labo says the questions let them “try to get a better albeit imperfect understanding of people’s personality and hence help them in the complex process of choosing a scent.” I say: we could have some fun. Simple as that. And maybe get to know each other better. So, if you're game... 😉

1. Your main characteristic? Perceptive
2. If not yourself, who would you be? Um...Gemma Chan (or her character Astrid in Crazy Rich Asians)? Edit: or The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
3. Your favorite food/drink? French pastries. And coffee!
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? Byredo Inflorescence. I took one sniff and felt like it was everything I ever wanted in a perfume.
5. Your dream job? Travel writer and photographer, but for remote, under-the-radar places with interesting histories and culture.
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? Athleticism, or even hand-eye coordination. Seriously, I once tried to hit a volleyball in gym class, but the ball went behind my head and hit the basketball net.
7. Your weirdest extravagance? Lipsticks?
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? Every single day.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? I don't know, maybe my mom's cooking. She mostly cooks Chinese food with lots of fragrant garlic, onion, and ginger, which I love.
10. Your favourite colour and flower? Green. Freesia or plumeria.
11. On what occasion do you lie? I'm a terrible liar.
12. Your two favorite fashion brands? Sezane, Everlane 
13. How would you like to die? Of old age.
14. When and where are you the happiest? When wandering around a new city anywhere in the word.
15. Your favorite motto? If not now, when?

@txcatxhow I wish we could get an Everlane shipping center in Canada!!!! Also, Chinese 5 spice, any kind of savory cooking with star anise, soy, the rice wine, they all evoke such strong memories for me ❤️

4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? MAC Turquatic.  I get compliments when I wear it
5. Your dream job? Doing something in beauty/skincare
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? Being creative, I love to craft and make things for people
7. Your weirdest extravagance? Have no idea
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? I like layering perfume with lotion because I like the way it smells.  I wear it everyday.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? the smell of my husband when we first met
10. Your favourite colour and flower? Royal blue and orchids
11. On what occasion do you lie? When I was in high school to go to a friend's house that was the opposite sex
12. Your two favorite fashion brands? Alice and Olivia and Alexander Wang
13. How would you like to die? Peacefully
14. When and where are you the happiest? Traveling,Disneyworld and Ireland
15. Your favorite motto? "Follow your heart because the person you least expect could be the one."  I made that motto for myself

2. If not yourself, who would you be? Before what happened last year, I'd always say - Anthony Bourdain! Now I don't know. I'd have to think about it.
3. Your favorite food/drink? Some Mom's homemade delicacies I'm not even gonna go into. So, pizza. Booch for drink. Home brewed when possible. 
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? Will have to come back to this.
5. Your dream job? Anthony Bourdain. 😞
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? Tech wizard/hacking skills.
7. Your weirdest extravagance? Food.
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? Because I enjoy it. Every day.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? Summers at the seaside when I was a kid and everything was perfect. Cypress. Pine. Juniper berries. Lemon and orange in bloom. Fresh citrus fruit. Specific scent of the sea air. Scent of the sea water. Scent of the skin bathed in sun mixed with the salt and olive oil. Maybe that's why I so love AC Clementine California, even though it is nothing like what I usually like or go for. The scent brings all these wonderful memories from that fantastic period of my life so vividly and strongly, I love it so for it! Also the divine scent of jasmine, honeysuckle and lilac in my grandmother's garden. Acacia and linden in bloom outside my childhood window. The scent of coming Fall and cold weather and chill in the air. Fire roasted chestnuts and cotton candy at the street fair. Scents of the old library in my home town. Spring mushroom "hunting" in the forest with all it's earthy, dirty,  musky, green scents... 
10. Your favourite colour and flower? Blues and purples. Red. Black. Always black. Flower? Not sure how you call them in English. I think maybe Black Asiatic Lilies? ( But they are not really black black. )

12. Your two favorite fashion brands? I don't care much for fashion brands. When I was younger I liked to watch Vivienne Westwood fashion shows on tv. And I liked her creations. Avant grade stuff in general. In real life, I march to the sound of my own drum when it comes to... everything. Don't care much ( or at all ) about fashion, brands, trends... 

13. How would you like to die? Quickly and painlessly. No other special preferences. 

14. When and where are you the happiest? Traveling with my better half. Exploring the world. Spending time with the family. They are so far away... and I miss them so much. Whenever I get to go back home and spend some time with them is the happiest time. 

15. Your favorite motto? 42. 😉

Ooh fun! These always remind me of the MySpace posts from the 00’s! And I agree, these are a great way to think about fragrances based on your personality and experiences. 

1. Your main characteristic? Ironic nihilism. 
2. If not yourself, who would you be? Kate Middleton. 
3. Your favorite food/drink? Soft serve ice cream.
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? Maybe Marc Jacobs Honey? Only because it was the first one that kickstarted my interest in perfume many years ago.
5. Your dream job? Travel writer. 
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? Songwriting. 
7. Your weirdest extravagance? No clue. 
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? Because I want to and almost daily. 
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? The only thing that’s popping to my head are things from college. The smell of a dorm room after it’s sat there over summer, the smell of a frat basement (I use “It smells like a frat house” as a descriptor waaaaaay too much)
10. Your favourite colour and flower? Color is pink, flower is rose, but I don’t discriminate when it comes to rose colors. 
11. On what occasion do you lie? When someone wants me to leave the house and I don’t want to leave the house.
12. Your two favorite fashion brands? I can’t afford high fashion and it doesn’t fit in my life anyway so I buy all my clothes at the Gap. Or Nike. 
13. How would you like to die? In my sleep at 104. 
14. When and where are you the happiest? When I’m traveling. And where ever I happen to be visiting I suppose. London is tops though. Tokyo is pretty awesome too...
15. Your favorite motto? Not really a motto, more a quote from a book - “Too a great mind, nothing is little” from Sherlock Holmes A Study in Scarlet.

Oh, hey, you've been to Tokyo, @alexasteph ? Nice! We're planing a trip ( adventure really ) to Japan next year, hopefully, and would like to see a lot of different things and places... What is a must see/do in Tokyo?
