Fun Fragrance Finding Questionnaire

Found this while looking for something entirely else. As it usually is, eh? The Proust questionnaire from Le Labo. Not sure how helpful these question really are in finding the "perfect" fragrance for you, but they sure are fun! Le Labo says the questions let them “try to get a better albeit imperfect understanding of people’s personality and hence help them in the complex process of choosing a scent.” I say: we could have some fun. Simple as that. And maybe get to know each other better. So, if you're game... 😉

1. Your main characteristic? I really couldn't say. On BIC, I try to be positive and encouraging 🙂
2. If not yourself, who would you be? A polyglot scholar of some kind that requires travel and digging into archives.
3. Your favorite food/drink? No favourites. It really depends on my mood.
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? This is very, very hard. Maybe Une Fleur de Cassie.
5. Your dream job? One in which I am contributing meaningfully to society, I decide what my days look like, am intellectually stimulated, do not have to deal with too many people, and my rights as a worker are respected. A diverse environment where people of all backgrounds work together. In my current job, I have these things. And no fear of harassment from any male colleagues which is PRICELESS.
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? Languages.
7. Your weirdest extravagance? My nightlife. After last call, things get wonderfully weird 🙂
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? Almost daily, for pleasure.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? Domestic related scents from my childhood. Spices and sauces in the pantry. Chinese remedies and medicines like Tiger Balm. Synthetic notes from the plastic in my toys. A sandalwood fan I had as a child.
10. Your favourite colour and flower? No preference, really. In terms of scent, I love cassie flower and jasmine.
11. On what occasion do you lie? Lies of omission to spare people's feelings are probably the most frequent.
12. Your two favorite fashion brands? Only two? Maybe Alexander McQueen and Comme des Garcons.
13. How would you like to die? Satisfied with how I have lived my life. I want to die knowing that I took the hand I was dealt and used it to become a better person, to work on my weaknesses and not indulge in bad habits, to know that I took demonstrable acts everyday to make the people around me feel human. Otherwise, I'd rather not die in too much physical pain but I try not to be attached to any particular outcome.
14. When and where are you the happiest? Alone, at peace. Traveling with others is easier but I truly love traveling alone. Like @alexasteph I also love London and Tokyo! I also just feel very restored being in nature alone.
15. Your favorite motto? I don't play favourites 🙂

Kyoto and Tokyo... Japan. Period! Have been a wish of mine forever. Next year, hopefully... I love to travel. Love! But I am really starting to hate long flights... Not a good combo. There's still so many far away places left to see, adventures to have...

@lyravega, the incense in Kyoto is out of this world, I highly recommend seeking it out. Complex, subtle, refined, just sheer olfactory enjoyment.

The way you put your thoughts into words, your whole personality ( intriguing, intellectual, mysterious, refined, positive, emphatic, caring... ), outlook on life... I am nowhere nearly as eloquent as you, so in short: "wow"! There. 😉

I'm going to take @lyravega up on her suggestion and recommend perfumes based on people's responses.

@greeneyedgirl107= Classic and femme. A Mugler, maybe Angel. For a more modern house, a Kilian.

@txcatx= Dynamic and modern. CK One. Yes, Byredo.

@SportyGirly125= Uplifting and charming. A floral Diptyque. Or maybe Mure et Musc.

@lyravega= Mysterious and adventurous. Well, it's cheating a little because I already know your taste. Mona di Orio, Serge Lutens.

@alexasteph= Creative and urban. A Comme des Garcons.

That's so awesome that you went out of your way to do this for us!  You have such a plethora of knowledge and insight into fragrance @pocketvenus.  I'm constantly impressed.  I will have to check out more Mugler as I'm only really familiar with "Angel".  I tried their "Aura" but was in a rush and couldn't really experience it.  I'm also in love with their "Alien" bottle but I can't for the life of me ever remember smelling it!  How silly of me!

I've been wanting to try some Kilian for a while, so it's interesting that you rec'd it!  I have a sample of "Princess" that's been calling my name.  I e-mailed the company a while back asking for samples, but just got put on their mailing list.  I have this recurring vision of Kilian Hennessy shaking his head "no" to me!

3. Your favorite food/drink? Petit Fours/ice cold water
4. The perfume(s) that have had the deepest impact on you? Seeing my grandmother's perfumes (Anis Anis, Charlie); and Estee Lauder Pleasures which I still adore to this day.
5. Your dream job? Model
6. The natural talent you’d like to be gifted with? Really good memory
7. Your weirdest extravagance? Costume jewelry
8. Why do you wear perfume and how often? I like the boost the initial spray gives me.  I wear it every time I leave the house.
9. Your strongest olfactive memory? The smell of my BFF's grandmother's house growing up.  
10. Your favourite colour and flower? Favorite color is pink; flower hyancinth (followed by tulips and daffodils)
11. On what occasion do you lie? White lies to spare someone's feelings.

I love hyacinths, tulips and daffodils, too! They always remind me of my beautiful grandma's garden, and all the wonderful moments I spent there... Ohhh how I loved just wondering around that "heaven on earth" ( I used to call it )!
