Sephoria NYC 2023

Now that the word is officially out….who will be attending Sephoria NYC 2023 on September 29-30, 2023?

I won’t be able to attend in person this year (I plan to attend virtually) but I know other members who are already planning and going.  If I had to choose a session it would be session 3 with Patrick Ta and Natasha Denona. 

Please share your excitement and even photos and experience here if you do go.

@bakeamuffin, I have the T3 Switch Kit Curl Trio Interchangeable Curling Iron with 3 Barrels. I previously used the largest iron, the 1.5” a lot, when my hair was longer, but have been reaching for the 1.25” all the time now.

I really wish that the Virtual Sephoria Classes were available for a much longer time.  Ending on Friday (early) seems really soon.  I didn't get to see more than 1 & 1/2 Master Classes.  I wanted to see more, but they were gone.   

I would like to commiserate with anyone else who did not have a great time with Friday's Virtual Sephoria 2023 experience.   I had the worst time, and I spent too much time trying to make it work for me.  Incredibly frustrating.  I am not a gamer, but I wanted to try, since there were no classes to watch.  For me, that is.  I could not watch any classes on Friday.  The directions did not show for me, and no matter how many times I entered Virtual Sephoria,  I could do nothing.   I couldn't effectively maneuver my Avatar.  I couldn't participate in games or activities.  I would be perfectly happy if they didn't have Avatars next year, or Games.  Make it simple.  Just let me watch the Classes, especially Master Classes, and please make them available for a longer time, somewhere, in case life gets in the way.  I think that making the classes more available, for a longer time, would be great.  I am motivated to buy products from the Companies that I see giving the Master Classes, so that is a positive result for Sephora.

I'm looking forward to the Virtual Sephoria Box arrival!  That will be a pleasure.  I'm being patient.

@tsavorite  When in person session got canceled, I tried to join virtual event and could hardly survive 5-10 minutes because I just kept bumping into walls and log out of the event so I gave up. Didn’t even find a single lipstick

I am sorry that you had a frustrating time with Friday's Virtual Sephoria, too.  Thank you for sharing this.  I was feeling like such a loser, because I couldn't get the directions or move my Avatar out of the Entrance, or participate in any way on Friday.  Somehow I got 4 lipsticks just by clicking my mouse on everything.  It meant nothing anyway.  I didn't enjoy the games at last year's Virtual Sephoria.  I don't know why I even tried this year, except for wanting to participate somehow.  I really would have liked to see more of the Master Class videos.

I'm so glad that you were able to be in NYC to experience the Live Sephoria 2023 and meet-up with everyone!   Yay for You!

@tsavorite  I had a lot of trouble navigating virtual Sephoria too. It was so frustrating I gave up. I finally got a tracking number for my box but it just shows a label has been printed and has no delivery date yet.

I'm sorry that Virtual Sephoria was so frustrating for you, too.  I think if we don't let @TeamBIC know about problems, how can things get changed?  Thank you for saying what your virtual experience was like.

On the Virtual Sephoria Box, same!  Label printed on the 5th, waiting for the Box to go to Fed EX.

@tsavorite did you happen to get your virtual box yet? I'm just curious because I haven't received anything either. I totally agree about the frustration with the virtual world. I get motion sick even watching first person games and that's kind of what the virtual world was like. I couldn't play any of the games or really click on many lipsticks. It took forever to get in as it kept buffering and I'm not sure if a masterclass was offered while I was in there - I started getting so sick I had to completely give it up which was sad. I really like the classes too.

 After an email that the Virtual Sephora box had the label made over a week ago, it wasn't delivered to Fed EX until yesterday.   That timing seemed weird, but not a big deal to me, as long as we get our packages eventually!  I received a notice that the box would be delivered to me by Monday the 16th.  Today, I received an email saying that the box will be delivered today.  Alls well that ends well!

I'm sorry that you had such a bad time with the Virtual Sephoria Atavar and games, too.  Next year, I think that I will just try to watch the Master Classes and leave the games alone.  I should have learned that last year!  A year was long enough that I wanted to try again, especially since Friday was the first day and I think the games were all that were available to us.  I wanted to participate. Last year I could participate in the games, but I found them so frustrating!  Not worth my time or effort in the future.

Thank you, @Mellmars1185 .  I hesitate to complain, but it seems to me that I am not alone in this, and maybe things can be improved.

I think we all are excited to see what is in the Virtual Sephoria Box!

@tsavorite Oh I would have thought the masterclasses would be available for the duration of the event to whoever logged in.   Having easy out-of-game entry to the classes would be nice.  Especially for anyone who has motor difficulties but would like to attend.  These things take a few years to evolve but that should definitely be an option they consider for next year.

@tsavorite, I'm so sorry to hear how frustrating your experience was with the virtual Sephoria platform. 😣 Kudos to you for making the effort - I've never gotten the hang of the avatar and games, so I can definitely appreciate where you are coming from. I'm also disappointed to hear that access to the masterclasses was so limited and I agree that it would be great to have access to those videos for a longer period of time - days, not hours; certainly over the course of a weekend and maybe even up to a week. Your experience doesn't seem to have been an isolated one and while it's not a consolation and doesn't make it better, I suspect there have been many lessons learned and issues being / to be troubleshooted with the entire Sephoria experience. As far as I know @TeamBIC isn't part of the group overseeing this portion of Sephoria but I'm tagging them here as they'll likely be in a better position to relay your feedback to them.

I'm sorry that I didn't write very clearly about access to the classes on Virtual Sephoria as I understand it.  Friday, there may have been some short classes, but I couldn't get to them at all.  I didn't have the directions to move my Avatar and was stuck at the entrance.  I could only turn around 360 degrees.  I tried clicking on everything that I could, but that did not help, I could not go anywhere, or view a short class.  

The Master Classes didn't start playing for Virtual Sephoria until Monday.  It was easy to go to the Theater then, just click.  I watched the Rare Beauty Class and about half of the Charlotte Tilbury Class. I wanted to get back to CT, and also watch the other Master Classes.  The Master Classes  access ended Friday at noon, I believe.  When I got back to try to finish the class or watch another one, on Friday, it was all over.  Life got in the way and I didn't make good enough use of that time.  I wish that I had.  I also wish that more time was available for us to see those great Master Classes and the shorter classes somewhere, on some site.

@tsavorite I didn’t like that they did it on Friday either. A lot of people have work that day. I felt rushed trying to do everything. Also so many complaints on the virtual swag bag from people. It said on sign up it would ship September but people are now starting to get them in October.  Not sure why it couldn’t be delivered before the event like previous years.

@SportyGirly125  It could have been a supplier or product delivery on their side that slowed things down?  It does seem like something happened since they had a well working system already in place.  

…unless they were trying to accomodate more people this year by seeing who paid to attend and THEN making them swag bags to accommodate all the attendees (rather than have online tickets sell out)  That could be it.
